  1. I've Googled but struggling to find the answer. Can anyone tell me if the hub carriers are alloy or steel in a Mk2 Octavia vRS? (Pre-facelift) Thanks :-)
  2. Old thread revival. Does anyone know if this setup will fit under 17" Zeniths on a MK2 Octavia?
  3. She's up for sale again. Spotted on Facebook. Was considering it but not so sure now lol
  4. Can anyone advise what the best brake upgrade is for the MK2 Octavia with standard 17" wheels? I don't want to move to 18".
  5. Bit more info for this... Both gearboxes are 02Q. The Skoda gearbox is JLW. The Cupra gearbox is JQN. Are these a straight swap? Ratios for both attached as an image.
  6. Does anyone know if this is possible? Anything else needed apart from the gearbox to do it? I can get my hands on a Cupra gearbox that's fitted with a Quaife differential - fancy putting it in the Octy. J
  7. 187k here...on a 2.0 petrol vRS, also 2006. They built them strong! Recently replaced all four corners of the suspension but that'll be thanks to our bumpy lanes and speed humps.
  8. Would a gearbox from a 2007 Seat Leon Cupra be a direct replacement for my petrol Octavia vrs?
  9. Old post revival, did everything sell in the end?
  10. Is there any way of telling what type of gearbox I have in my MK2 Octavia vRS? Code shows JLW below but is that a different code to being 02m etc? Or is it a JLW gearbox?
  11. Quick update for anyone watching the thread. I've agreed to buy it from Rossy. (He's away with work at the moment but replied to my PM by text.) It's going onto a petrol Octavia vRS with 185,000 miles. It just keeps going, and going, and going...
  12. These were posted for sale in August 2016...I'm sure they're long gone!!
  13. Anyone know what this bit highlighted in red is called? Or can you give me a part number? The clips that attach it to the front of the car have broken so I need to get a replacement. It's for a Mk2 Octavia vRS (pre-facelift) with FSI engine. Thanks,
  14. Thanks. Took it to the garage, apparently there are six different fault codes and they're not sure what the issue could be. Doesn't seem to be limited to the wipers...car also does the same thing when stationary and on tick over with no wipers on...but not all the time. Problem seems to come and go. Nightmare...
  15. My friend's Octavia vRS has developed an issue...engine likes to rev oddly when the wipers are turned on and the car will sometimes stall too. Today when starting from cold, and with the wipers on, the revs gradually increased with each wipe until 3000/3500rpm at which point the wipers were turned off. It's as if the wipers are linked to the accelerator pedal. Car sometimes revs randomly with wipers off as well. Also seems to be a loss of boost after the engine management illuminated. It is going to the garage next week to get looked at but does anyone have any idea what might be causing it?
  16. Yes, that's correct. I think I'll be on the edge when it comes to the 3.5 tonne limit
  17. Thanks. That second link was very useful. According to that, if you pass the trailer test then the trailer can be heavier than the tow vehicle. (Assuming the tow vehicle's maximum tow weight isn't exceeded.) Sorry for making a meal out of this...
  18. Still getting my head around this... I understand that for those who passed their driving test after 1 January 1997, it is not possible to tow anything that weighs more than the tow vehicle, regardless of the vehicle's maximum towing capacity. So if a Mondeo weighs 1500kg, you can't tow more than 1500kg (unless you passed your driving test before 1 January 1997 in which case it's OK). What I don't know is this: does this still apply if you've passed the trailer test? (B+E entitlement)
