  1. Allams Skoda, here to help :-)

  2. I've driven a few Imprezas and I was never that impressed with the acceleration, the road holding is very but they aren't as frighteningly fast as everyone makes out. Plus they are uncomfortable and loud to be in for any long journeys. As sonner said above AMG CLK or even C-Class would offer great performance. I don't know about your budget but the E46 M3 is getting to a point now where it is a bit of a performance bargain, just avoid the SMG ones.
  3. You can buy a G-Wagen at the moment powered by a V12 BiTurbo. Not really sure how you're ever going to make use of that much power but it has a lot of bragging rights, and just the thought of a twin turbo V12 in a bus does make me laugh.
  4. Hahah, I saw many Range Rovers stuck last year. I had my old Landcruiser on BFG Mud Terrains and it was unstoppable. Evem managed to pull a partly loaded 7.5ton truck up a hill. Just locked the centre diff and away it went, I think once I had to lock the rear on a really icey hilly bit, but on the snow it was great! I am pretty sure that in the next 3 years winter tyres will be compulsary for some vehicles in the UK. Like maybe taxis, private hire, delivery vans etc initially and then everyone else soon after.
  5. Where abouts are you living? I know Jebel Ali my Dad used to work for JetOps and they had a seaplane base at the hotel there.
  6. Yes last year was a good deal if you went for a vRS, but this quarters campaigns are slightly different.
  7. You'll get it in Jan or it'll be built in Jan?
  8. The best thing for me about Christmas is the TopGear specials.
  9. £8k is ridiculous. You couldn't buy one for that anywhere. They're going through the trade for about £10k at the moment.
  10. Here's another one to keep us going until SkodaTC puts up his one.
  11. You do get 0% APR and 0% VAT if you factory order, you can't and never could get 0% APR on vRS though, only Elegance and L&K. But all Octavias both stock and factory order have VAT free with the exception of the 4x4 models and the Scout models.
  12. How are you getting such low MPG out of an SDi? I used to have a Fabia SDi back in the day and I was getting 60-75mpg out of that all the time.
  13. £134.95 isn't that bad for a SAAB convertible.
  14. Wow, I was never going to get that one! What's next?
  15. I've seen a few when I was last there, mostly 1.6MPi Octavias and base Fabias, did see a couple of Superbs too. But not many at all, but the brand is pretty new to Dubai. You see a lot more Octavias in Sharjah though.
  16. I thought it was a Porsche 356 or a VW Beetle for some reason but it's neither of those.
  17. Cool thanks I shall get in touch with him. Al Futtaim don't seem to be looking for anyone to work in Toyota (which I'd be happy with), they seem to be recruiting for Honda at the moment though, but last time I was there I can't say I saw many Hondas on the roads, or perhaps I just didn't notice them. Oh yes I've been hearing all about the way the finance works there, very backwards but I guess it works. I'd like to stick with Skoda simply because I like the brand and I'd like to see where it goes. I'll send Andy a message and just ask a couple of questions. Thanks Buckles!
  18. As I mentioned before, it's not much more money and you do get a fair bump in power which is always nice. I disagree with vrs2' comments about the MPG, on our standard test drive route which is littered with roundabouts and a few sets of traffic lights a TSi 1.2 will get between 45 and 50mpg if you use the engines torque and make use of the higher gears.
  19. Yep, going to give it a go. My parents have been living there and been thinking about going for the last 2 years and I finally decided about a month ago as the time feels right. I'm hoping to do 3-5 years in Dubai, I was also looking at Al Futtaim but Ali & Sons have just taken on Skoda and selling out of a showroom in Dubai just of SZ Road and also a showroom in Abu Dhabi but I don't know where. There seems to be a fair few jobs going at the moment in the motor trade which is probably where I'll end up out there since it's what I know. School is very expensive in Dubai I think. Luckily not a problem for me. Well I hope you enjoy your time back in the UK and the new/old job with your Dad works out okay.
  20. There are a few digits missing off the front of it, to do with intended country of use etc.
