  1. ah the more i hear the more i get mixed up :S to be honest, shapewise i prefer the ibiza - it's much sexier. also, here in malta, the seat dealer gives 2 years warranty whereas the skoda one gives 5 years warranty... to be honest, i don't like the shiny parts much - as you said it's a matter of tastes obviously, it doesn't mean that they're not nice...
  2. I've heard that one too.... apparently Seat have very cheap plastics! P.S. - if I get it I'll have to drive it to Malta; well or ship it - but I guess it's much more fun driving it )
  3. Yes of course. vrs/cupra/gti all have the 1.4 TSI VAG engine with DSG - that's why i was so puzzled with the difference in mpg and co2.
  4. Well... the best looking (in my opinion at least) is the Cupra - but then it does 4 mpg less than the Fabia. Besides I'm a bit brand-loyal towards Skoda...
  5. it is the flagship ain't it ) TBH, I didn't even consider the A1 (same reason you said hehe). My decision mainly rests between the Fabia and Ibiza. Ibiza looks nicer, but the fact that it does almost 4mpg less (always referring to urban) worries me a bit. Another worry though is the noisy cabin of the Fabia Mk2. I had a Mk1 before (1.4 MPI) and now I have a Mk2 (1.2 HTP), and there's quite a difference between them. The Mk1 was much smoother, and the ride was so better. What I'm afraid of is that the vRS will actually have a worse ride than the 1.2 HTP and will be noisier. Any thoughts since you seem to own one? I still love the Fabia, especially since it's the most value for money one. Although I definitely want the option for auto-lights and auto-dimming mirror lol.
  6. Hi, I'm looking at the three flagships of the VAG superminis, Fabia vRS, Ibiza Cupra and Polo Gti and I found out there are these differences between them - does anybody have any idea why and how please? Emissions: Both Fabia and Ibiza are the same - 148 or 149 g/km, but the Polo is 138 or 139 g/km Consumption (urban - to take worst case scenario): Fabia - 37 mpg Polo - 38 mpg Ibiza - 34 mpg The Polo seems to be the best option (best emissions and lowest consumption), the Ibiza the nicest looking option, the Fabia the most value for money option... but do you have any idea why the differences in consumption and emissions above pls? Thanks.
  7. mine does the noise too. it sounds something sort of ploppy with bumps in the road. I still have to take it out and fix it. I think it's probably some wires or hose going in between the glove box and the dash that hits one side and the other when you hit a bump
  8. I think the fabia mk1 used to have that problem and it used to be the brake pedal switch playing funny. Could it be the same case with these?
  9. If you're used to vrs performance and you're expecting something "decent" forget it - everything will look lame compared to the vrs. For a 1.2 3-cyl motor it feels quite good though. Mine's just about a month old now (or 3 weeks I can't remember lol), and given it's just a 1.2 and 70bhp, it's quite all right. You have to keep in mind it's a 1.2 at all times, but at least you can keep a gear going uphill. I've been driving 99% of the time with a/c on and haven't had any problems, not even with 3 passengers (plus myself) in the car. Don't expect ultra-fast acceleration or a fun-ride experience (engine wise I mean), but it's very decent for what it is. Some people might find what I'm going to say a bit funny, but believe it or not, when compared to my ex-Kia Cee'd (which was a 1.4 petrol, 4-cyl and 109bhp) the engine power feels the same. It keeps more or less the same gears as the Kia going uphill etc, and has an acceleration similar to that of the Kia. The only difference was that the Kia was much larger when compared. However, on the other hand, the Fabia has a smoother and quieter ride, as the suspensions are a bit softer than the Kia's, which were a bit too stiff.
  10. I'm hearing a similar knocking noise coming from the left hand side too. It sounds as if there there's something loose I don't know but it's driving me round the bend. It happens either when the engine is being stressed (eg if you're not giving it enough gas when releasing the clutch to reverse or if you're driving and you need to lower the gear) or else over a bumpy surface. I hear it either somewhere behind the glove box or else the front left suspension or else something in the engine bay. I opened the bonnet bonnet and could see that the air cleaner is kind of suspended on bushes rather than solidly screwed on. Could it be this? Has anyone had this problem and fixed it? Thanks
  11. I took my car to the servicing department this afternoon and the technician connected the diagnostic software to it etc. Apparently there is a software version update for the Fabia, they have received all the literature about it etc, but Skoda haven't yet sent them the actual CD with this software. This contains, amongst others, a MAXIDOT CORRECTION. There is the possibility to update this over the internet but since my problem isn't a life-or-death situation I told them I'll wait till they get the actual CD and will ask to get it done when I give my car for the first service. The technician was actually very nice and helpful and was explaining a couple of things to me too in the mean time.
  12. do you have a link to the led strips shop/ebay?
  13. dude... very good english don't worry mate and very sexy mods. I want to get mine like that eventually too. only problem is i don't have projector headlamps (yet) on mine. i want to get everything done - my only problem is money though!
  14. yep in fact the 2002 Fabia I had had up to 2006 or 2007 was also white cheers dude (DaveHarries) - just in case you come to Malta one day, it's the Birgu Waterfront, there's a yacht marina and a few restaurants
