Hi there thanks for this post and the details of the cure as I am looking at a similar problem. the fault code is slightly different P1256 -35 -10 Intermittent Engine Coolant Temp Sensor (G62) open or short to Plus but the root cause is clearly the same - time to see my local independent - thanks once again

not too much to tell its pretty well standard apart from the addition of a Kenwood DNX7200 audio/sat nav, nicely run in at 52k. Its now out of warranty and will be looked after by a local independent - this is the 3rd VAG car in the family and like many of you I think it great.

I've been following this forum with interest over the last few months since buying my Superb in April last year and felt it was time to join you all Bill:thumbup:
