  10. Reported new speed cams being erected on motorway near to where i live to Talex. Had a cracking reply from Steve Walsh which came the following day saying he will have the location visited and the cams logged. Faith restored in Talex!
  11. I'm slowly starting to feel the same as you, thats why i'm wondering if anyone is getting better results with the Novus database.
  12. Well just tried to update my Talex again and found that the database is still the same as last week. I know people are entitled to their holidays but you would think that if it is the case that the "database guy" has gone away there would be someone there who could do his job and update it for him. NOT IMPRESSED! Pity they can't sort their web page out to show exactly whats going on with their database's like Novus do, it would prob save me the time of plugging device in and waiting to update only to find its the same database! I do like the Talex but you'd think that after all this time they would have sorted their web page out! Will now have to update with Novus as they do have one for this week!
  13. Beefheart, Just read the above, Do you happen to know how the Novus database fairs against the PGPSW in comparison to the Talex database?
  14. Does anyone know when the latest Talex update will be out? I was under the impression it was every Fri. Just gone to update mine now and the file size is the same as last Fri 3356568 bytes Version number the same also 9055.
  15. Latest Talex database v.9054 file size 3356496. Latest Novus Database is 9054 size 1.36MB. Text taken from their web site: "On the database this past few weeks we have added 2 Fixed and 3 Mobile. Removed 1 Fixed, 6 Mobile and updated 8 Mobile locations and speed changes."
  16. Cheers for that, do you happen to know if the unit holds more information than the old Talex full fat and are there any other differences apart from the two LED's on the units display? I'm either gonna buy a new Talex or try to source an old one off somewhere like e-bay.
  17. Just looking on a previous page (1) someone wanted to know if the new Talex device will run off a free Novus update, Has anyone tried this? and if so what was the result? Also has anyone over the past few months noticed any difference between the old Talex unit and the new one in the way of holding more locations etc? Just debating weather to go out and buy a new unit as mine has started to go on the blink!
  18. Latest Talex database now on V. 9051 file size 3368728 bytes.
  19. So is it the Talex or the Novus that people are saying have the lack of locations the further north you go?
  20. Cheers, I didn't know that. Should be interesting to see how they get on with the Talex. I am more than happy with the Talex and noticed that last night the file size had changed from 3369984 bytes to 3369872 bytes. Just wanted to see if Novus where matching the quality of database provided by Talex.
  21. Just looked at the Novus web page as i haven't been on there for a long while, it says on there that they won the Auto Express Speed Trap Locator Test in July 2008 and provide a link to that page to confirm it. Also the web site itself looks far more informative than the Talex web site with video etc, Having said that its all very well having web sites with all he whistles and bells but if the database isn't up to doing the job, then there's not much point, hence asking whether anyone else is using Novus at the moment and how are they finding it?
  22. Also Just updated my Talex and the latest database file size is 3369984 bytes, the same size as last weeks V9044.
  23. Has anyone been using the Novus database and if so how are you finding it?
  24. Well I'm just wondering if Talex are having trouble with their latest database, Tried to update the latest database yesterday (as this is usually when the latest is out, every friday) @ around 8pm. The file size I got was 3372432 bytes, the same size as the previous Fri. Just tried again this evening thinking there may have been a problem yesterday but again have downloaded the same sized file, only thing that has changed has been the version number 9035. Found this a little strange as every Fri the database is updated and since Version number 8052 the file sizes have been different. Have they just kept the same database on it and just changed the version number???
  25. Just updated my Talex database now on 9033 file size 3372552 bytes. Must have been working late tonight!
