Evening. Right my mum and dads Fabia 1.4MPI is playing up. Now the car sometimes starts fine and will for maybe the whole day but it soons stops. All the lights come on the dash and go off (the normal cycle) But you go to start it up and it will just turn over and over, It might not start for mins or even hrs, You can smell the unburnt fuel aswell. Now sometimes the ECU light comes on even while driving and its been doing this for alittle while, Before the starting problems. I have Vagcom but am having trouble with it on this laptop, It does show a starter motor impulse problem. Please help. Luke

Hi. Well my mum and dads Fabia 1.4 MPI wont start. Its done this 3 times over the months. But it did it this morning, and again tonight, But now it wont start at all. All it does is turn over and nothing else. All the lights on the dash come on as normal and all go off expect the ones that should stay on. Now this morning they left it for a few mins and locked the car, and i try it and it fired up, Was running crap few a minute or so. The revs was at 1500-1600rpm but soon settled. Now tonight it wont go, It just turns over and nothing. You can smell the unburnt fuel. They have left it for a few hrs and still nothing. Will have to get Vagcom on the go, But cant till Monday as my PC is at work, Doh. Any idea's?

Hi. My mum and dad have an 02 Fabia Silverline. The heater speed control doesnt work from "1-3" but does work on "4". I have seen the Tech Guide but am not sure if i need to do all that to this one?. It doesnt have Aircon either. So do i need to take the radio and dash part all out to fix this?. And is there a part code and price. Thanks in advance!. Luke

Seems like normal then as a few people's cars are doing the same thing. I know the 1.4 8V is an old engine but it seems a smooth and quite engine compared to there VW Bora 1.6. The cog/gear noise isnt from the chain, Its from the clutch, As soon as you push the clutch in its fine, Am not sure if the noise is normal, But other than the noise the clutch is fine. Luke

Deffo need a good hard drive. But the tickover isnt slow nor does feel like its going to stall. It just seems to be jumpy and it will tickover normal then the revs will go down and back up, As if the car is misfiring sort of feeling, But it isnt as it revs very clean up to 5k, Could just be carbon build up. Thats what we was thinking. We put some Redex in, And i think we are going to give it an engine flush and oil change. An old woman has had it from new since 2003 and doing 13k in it. Its like new, So we gave it a spin up the motorway. Luke

Hi. Well my mum and dad just bought a 2003 Fabia 1.4 MPI. Few little things first. The car has done 13k with full Skoda history. Now the tickover seems alittle jumpy and you can feel its alittle jumpy on tickover. Also, When you have it in neutral with the clutch out you can hear a slight which sounds like gears turning like cogs. Now i know all cars do this, Just never heard it before on any of a VW cars. Just wanting to know if this is normal. Thanks Luke

Oh right, Am 90% sure i saw MPI (the I was in red) on the boot. But this is a 2003 car from a dealer. Luke

I tryed looking, But it doesnt say its a 8v or 16v with the 1.4 Silverlines. Am guessing an 8v?. Luke

Good track, Just the paddock is crap!. But i heard they are putting some big money into that to attact more people and even a hotel. Plenty of grip out there back in July in the wet, But i was on a bike trackday. Please dont lob the brakes on hard are you will make it bumpy!. Luke

Hi. My old man is looking at buying a 03 Fabia 1.4 MPI Silverline. We are a VW group family and friends so i know they are pretty good little cars. Am just wanting to know what to look out for, On the 2003 Fabia 1.4 MPI Silverline model ?. What is the real world MPG around town and motorway? And is £4190, With 16,000 miles with one old lady owner with full history a good deal?. Everything is like new, Expect a scratch on the LHS front bump which i will touch up for him. Thanks Luke
