  1. Came across this slideshow which might interest others (captions in French!): http://auto.nouvelobs.com/galeries-photos/essais/20130726.LQA4867/koda-felicia-1959-1964.html Some good classic Felicia & Octavia photos!
  2. Last time I had my car (which has a Columbus unit) in for servicing I asked to have a Superb as courtesy car / test car. In the Superb's glove box was the DVD with the latest maps.
  3. The Avantime still looks fantastic though, so different from anything else around. Still regret not having bought one when they came out! Shame Renault had so many problems with the sub-contracted firm that built them (Matra).
  4. Done over 30,000 miles on my Vector 4 Seasons on the Scout, still about 3-4mm but will change them next month. Will go for the same again I think.
  5. Hi, I have a TDI Scout and tow a boat (bit lighter than yours - 20ft folding trimaran). Absolutely brilliant on slipways etc and no issues at all on the roads (I have been up and down the country and across to France with it in tow).
  6. GoodYear Vector 4 Seasons, Have done around 38,000 miles on them and they will be due for a change in the next few weeks (~ 3mm still well above legal minimum). Did about 33,000 on the Dunlops before that. Great tyres in snow, rain & dry. Will probably buy the same again or go for Nokian for a change.
  7. Same issue here, had the wheels re-done under warranty last year and they are now de-laminating again....
  8. I think it looks awful compared to the Columbus. I also much prefer the Columbus mapping than the Garmin one. But then these things are down to taste...
  9. The dealer who changed mine said that the car had to be re-coded afterwards (in fact they struggled a bit with that).
  10. Excellent news, but a 170 CR 4x4 DSG would be perfect Now if they could just provide that scout version....

  12. Quick update: After 6 weeks of haggling and arguing with Skoda UK and threatening to take them to court I finally got 100% contribution for parts & labour. The unit was replaced last week. I think it it is also fair to say that my dealer helped as much as they could when dealing with Skoda UK. It started off with 0%, then after 1 week 35% parts, then 50% parts /35% labor, then 80% parts / 45% labor and finally 100%. (The initial quote was for over £1740.00!) So happy in the end but it did require a lot of perseverance. My advice to anybody, don't give up keep going and phone Skoda UK back every week.
  13. I have been running the Vector 4 Seasons tyres since last November on my Scout and done over 25,000 miles on them. They are excellent, in the snow last January especially. I have also noticed that when driving in a spirited manner the ESP kicks in much less often than it did on the Dunlop Sport I had before. However the mpg has dropped by 1 on average. But a price I am prepared to pay for the extra grip and better stopping distances in the cold.
  14. I used to have an LPG car, and in my experience fuel consumption does go up a little with LPG, and you lose a bit of power. In any case a major put-off LPG is that is restricts where you can take the car. There a various road tunnels in France which are banned to LPG cars, same with underground car parks (although this is unclear as the sign sometimes refers only to tanks not fitted with safety valves). And of course you can't go on Eurotunnel with it.
  15. Parkers have an online calculator which is quite good. As usual though any calculations are only valid based on the price differential between petrol and diesel remaining at today's level (which maybe a bit optimistic if you are leaning towards diesel). http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/petrol-vs-diesel/?deriv=49291#manu=10172&model=1701&deriv=49291
