  1. After a couple of years out of the skoda scene, having sold my octavia tdi and purchased a mini cooper, I have decided that I want another Skoda Octavia. My old Octy was the best car ive ever had, and even though it was only a 90 bhp model, I had it re mapped and it was pretty nippy!.I still see it being driven round where I live, so now ive decided to sell the mini and buy a vrs 2.0 tfsi.I would love one of the race blue ones,so once the cooper has gone, i will have one.Are there any problems to look out for when buying one?I have looked in the for sale section on here ,and there are a couple of beautys, but I think they have either sold , or been taken off sale.I will be so pleased to be back in an octy again, so will be keeping my eyes peeled for one .Thanks in advance.Dave.
  2. 2-0 up at the moment so not looking good for the yanks
  3. Im being made redundant and finish work next Friday. Ive been with the company for 12 years, and they made me a decent offer as they want to release all those over 50. The worst part was not being able to look for a job until Id had my redundancy notice,as I could have walked straight in to another job at the time ,but would have lost my payout. As luck would have it ,ive been offered another job doing the same work ,same pay, only 35 miles nearer home!! The only downside is that I now no longer need the octy as I can walk to work and the missus wont drive it, some come September ,its got to go :'( Theres always something out there mate ,so dont feel too down, .Good luck in finding something.
  4. Update ... replaced n/s driveshaft complete and the vibration on acceleration has gone, so anyone with similar symptoms , check inner driveshaft cv joint for play.
  5. I am changing me n/s driveshaft at the weekend as the inner joint has a bit of play in it ,and have been making sure I have all the tools to do the job.I have looked at the six bolts holding the inner driveshaft to the gearbox ,and the bolts look like they are splined inside. Do I need a special tool to remove these, and if so , is it a dealer part? Any help much appreciated as I dont want to strip it down only to find I have the wrong tool.It is on a 2002 octy tdi.(90). Many thanks
  6. Yes well done spurs, nice to see a different team in CL next year, im a utd fan so anyone finishing above Arse nal and liverfool ,get my vote. Just hope Wigan can overturn Chelski and us beat Stoke , and life will be even better
  7. w*****s x a zillion, lets hope one day if theyve got something that they cherish , that someone does the same to them, or they just get chainsawed....
  8. Yes , but this feels like driving over cats eyes ,, but to a much lesser extent.
  9. and I also have a new one in the shed ,but have been a bit reluctant to tackle the job as the haynes manual doesnt cover this job. Are they easy to change?
  10. My octavia 1.9 tdi has had some vibration on acceleration for some time and although its not got any worse, im determined to sort it once and for all.The vibration can be felt through the steering wheel and the pedals and is present only on hard acceleration in any gear. Ive replaced the rear wheel bearings, front and rear shocks and springs, discs and pads, top suspension mounts and bearings(all as a matter of course as all were wearing), fitted superpro wishbone and arb bushes, new bottom balljoints, new dogbone, and still it does it.Idont think its the dmf, as it does it at any revs in any gear but seems to smooth out if I release the throttle slightly. Today , I removed the front wheels and checked all was ok and noticed that if I gripped the o/s driveshaft and tried to move the wheel, that there was some play in the outer cv joint ,(ie I could rotate the wheel a few mm and the driveshaft would not move)The wheel bearings seem ok so do you think that this could be the cause of the roughness? The car is a 90 bhp tdi which has been re mapped and apart from this, runs like a dream. Any advice appreciated thanks.
  11. Ihave one of these for my octy tdi and it also works on my missus 1.0 ltr micra . They are worth the money as you can read the codes and crossmatch them in the manual supplied and also turn off the engine light etc. HTH.
  12. Ive just received my ecu back from Ecu Evolution and my god what a difference it has made.!!! I have been running a tuning box for the last 18 months and thought that that was good but this is something totally different for me.the car flies off the mark and the increase in torque is phenomenal (even tho its only a 90 bhp) so im really pleased with it. At the weekend ,I also fitted new front and rear suspension (shocks and springs) and it has lowered the car by around 30 mm,which has made it look more agressive.Ihave 225/45x17 tyres on all round but will I be able to carry 4 people with luggage ok , or will the arches catch? The rear feels quite stiff so hopefully it will be ok.When removing the rear springs I found that BOTH of them had snapped about 2 inches of spring off, so it was a good job I did change them
  13. He probably just likes driving around the side of a mountain
