  1. Hi all Just noticed today that 2 letter of my front plate have almost disapeared. The odd thing is I washed the car last weekend and it was perfect, i also noticed that they seem sticky too, so anyway they need replacing. What do I do? never had to change them on any other car, obviously want a legal setput and nothing bespoke, just as they come. Do I need to register of do I just buy them online? Any help is appreciated Cheers
  2. Thought so, my mate has a 944 S2 with similar seats but full grey leather, I agree, they are very comfy
  3. snow_muncher, if im not mistaken they are seats from a Porsche 944???
  4. Well after a bout 3 hours of soldering, getting it wrong and re-soldering i can confirm this works perfectly. I now have a high quality ipod audio feed directly to the unit, taken off the changer wires, mounted througha switch. I have mounted the 3 position switch securely at the back of the Din tray, meaning i can switch from changer to off to jack (iphone in my case) The jack lead comes through a small hole in the back of the din tray to to make it nice and subtle. I know this is basically doing what a tape adapter could but in mine the tape deck is quite noisy and I think the quality is better. I followed the votex link. V pleased PS- didnt get chance to take any pics, sorry, but will take some "after" pics when iots light
  5. not a fan of aftermarket stuff in general and those are just plain awful, its your choice but you i honestly think you will ruin it. just my opinion though :-)
  6. I had my old Fiat Stilo JTD done by these guys a few years back, very impressed with the results, nice smooth power delivery and a hell of a punch at motorway speeds.
  7. Originally posted here, but you guys might not see it there http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/198034-switchable-changer-and-iphone-for-very-little-money/ Any thoughts? Cheers
  8. Bear with me, im not that tech at auto electronics, but... If I were to identify the left and right audio wires from the changer input loom, cut them and join to a in line switch, then connect that switch to a length of jack wire and inturn a 3.5mm audio jack.- Would I then have a system that could be switchable from changer to mp3 player (iphone in my case) for around £2? I could place the switch subtley in the din storage tray and have the option of either changer or iphone. Please can somone with a bit more knowledge confirm (Or tell me im completely wrong) Thanks Neil Update - would the earth be effected in anyway??
  9. Hi all I love the vRS and the skoda brand, however im just getting itchy feet and am considering a change. I like cars that are a bit special and diferent, but performance and quality and reliability are important. Looking at 2004 saab 9-3 aero (210bhp) and the old Merc E190 cosworth's (2.3 or 2.5) Merc is half the cost for insurance than that of the vRS! Has anyone had any experience of either of these? good or bad Many thanks
  10. Just done a search and it seems fuse 27 is the one, gonna whip it out and see what's what
  11. Ok, it's getting more frequent and I need to go out later, really don't want it to carry on with it making the awful noise of dry wier on dry screen, for the time being can I remove a fuse to kill it until I get chance to take it in? If so which fuse? Cheers
  12. Hi all. Bit of an odd one, I'm finding the rear wiper comes on randomly, havnt found a pattern to it yet but it's not often, every minute maybe, but not regular. Any ideas? Cheers
  13. Hi, why do you need the code? After my battery completely died last month, I got it fixed (turned out to be a faulty relay) I turned it on and it said "safe mode" for a minute or so then all was back to normal? The radio wasnt removed but the battery was completly dead and disconnected.
  14. Right... The man came to jump from his portable pack and it wouldnt quite turn over, so he connected it to his truck (which must have a suply with a much higher current suply) and it fired 1st time, no warning lights, radio code not needed (after 5 mins minutes of driving the "sage" mode cleared) and all ok. He said its a common VAG issue, but wasnt sure of the cause. Drove it to the garage where it will be on charge all night, they noticed the fans still running after 10 minutes of the engine being off, so thats the culprit alright. It even started when I turned the engine off when I arrived at the garage in "auto pilot" mode (i know, bad move - very lucky and I did think 5h1t as soon as I did it lol) Anyways, hopefully its a sensor or wiring issue that they can trace and solve easily. Also asked them to change the thermostat as it has been on the to-do list for a month or so and may even had contributed in some way?? Always on the cold side, never overheating) Thanks everyone for their help and assistance ExAudiSi - That pointer on plate lift has proved very useful and my mate has found a local Porsche specialist who thinks the same that has quoted £150 to clean the fronts and replace the plates (not a full refurb as he doesnt think it is required) to see if it recifies the problem, so thank you
  15. Hi Phil Nicely put, now I understand! :-) Im awaiting them now so hopefully their jump pack will have better luck.
