  1. Ok, so in theory if I got aftermarket shocks for a golf estate, and then uprated springs, I could install them on my MK1 VRS?
  2. Hi guys, sorry to resurrect this thread, but im reading here that the Octy VRS can use mk4 suspension with uprated rear springs, but in this thread: http://briskoda.net/octavia-i/will-2wd-tt-suspension-fit-octy/92480/ it says that the octy can only use Skoda VRS suspension kits Clear as mud for me now, can someone help? Basically im looking to cheaply lower my car a tad, I suspect my shocks won't take just springs so id be looking to do shocks and springs on a budget. Thanks
  3. ah havent checked that one, im pretty sure its ok but will check
  4. Hi all. I've seen a few octavia's with my particular issue. My exhaust tip seems to be hanging down quite a way from its little cubby hole cutout in the bumper, and it looks a little odd. The rear hanging V type rubber is there and hasn't broken. Is this a common problem? Is it the hanging rubber needing to be replaced possibly? Any help welcome as it really lets the car down I think!
  5. If you do end up putting paid to your cat: Cats 4 Less | Home £74 quid brand new for the octavia thank you very much I bought one for my old passat 1.8T when it sheared off. i was skeptical because of the price, but flew through the MOT emissions test 3 days after fitting
  6. Hi all. all my brakelights are out. The last service the mechanic said he'd changed the brake light switch. Where is it so I can take a lookies at it? I shall consult the manual now to check the fuse but i doubt its that... Thanks!!
  7. Sorry for the late reply, thanks alot guys, will check that out. Cheers!
  8. Hi. Bit of a wierd one this. When I start the car in the mornings (cold) it sounds like there's a hole in the downpipe / airbox and it runs quite lumpy....for 60 seconds then magically corrects itself! After that time I get full power, no missing, no blowing noise anymore... really wierd. If I restart the car when its warm there's no problem, so its only when cold. Its really odd though that there's this wooshing air escaping noise... then 60 seconds later it stops and everything is OK. Any ideas??
  9. Ordered, on its way. Will keep you all posted wether it fits or not
  10. yep youll just need one of these: Car Audio Direct - VW Double DIN facia adaptor - Fitting Adaptor But beware, these surrounds have a lip around the INSIDE as well, so if your DIN unit has anything that folds out, you;ll have to grind the lip down.
  11. Right then if its in teh Book of Fables then its good enough for me
  12. its a good price, u recon i should just buy it? cant be too different can it... ?
  13. yeah there were a few different boxes. I know i've got tripodic driveshafts so I just need to know if they'll fit on that ENJ box I found
  14. My E38 7 series used to do the same thing. On my way to work it will go from a solid 90 down to 50, ping pong for a bit up and down, then back up to about 80 and sit there. Its not an accurate temp reading as the needle moves too quickly, so ive concluded mine is an electrical thing, and probably the sensor / sender part of it. In traffic it will usually sit slap bang on 90 though.
  15. as above really, ive found a ENJ octy vrs box from a 1999 car. Will it fit onto my 2001 Octy VRS with the EHA box? Thanks
  16. Hi all. first gear is on its way out so i need to source a new box. I have my manual in front of me and im trying to find my gearbox number. i can see: AUQ EHA HV 9102 Is it there? or do i have to write out that bloody matrix..
  17. well im going to bite the bullet and get it fixed soon. Ill get a price to recon the box, and a price for a scrapper box and see what is more favorable. I'll let you all know what the outcome is...
  18. ah mine is fine on idle, and all other gears are fine. its just when driving in first is the problem. Like a cog that is catching on something when its turning...
  19. yep ive come to that conclusion too. cheers guys.
  20. no reverse is fine - all of the above arn't cheap id imagine?
