I expect the garage did a test using VCDS (vagcom) in other words just checked for fault codes What you need is a garage that can do : 1. Compresstion test 2. Cylinder leakage test 3. Injectors tested on a rig

If the glow plugs are damaged or faulty you will get a light staying on in the dash Injectors or cracked cylinder head is the most likely outcome of this problem

Wow, It’s not possible to fully test injectors when the they are in the engine, they need to be removed and flow tested on a test rig Diesel engines cannot compress water... that’s why they bend con-rods if driven into a flood and water is sucked in the intake Clearly your engine has been damaged and proper diagnostic needs to be done. Another vote for 4x4 here, To answer the original question is 4x4 worth getting, well for me it is. I have found no disadvantages like noise tyre wear or high fuel consumption I do a lot of driving in bad weather not just snow and ice but rain and feel safer with the extra grip My expectation is that come trade in time the car should make a good price, also 4x4s are better for towing. I think Skoda should offer DSG option maybe they will soon

There is a lot data on the internet that suggests that modern (low sulphur) diesel lacks essential lubrication qualities needed for long injector life. One solution is to add two stroke oil to diesel fuel. The best type is marine two stroke TC-W3 spec (low ash)

I think you should pursue a warranty claim with Skoda customer care even if it’s out of warranty, you may find they will offer to pay half the repair bill assuming it’s a premature failure (defective injector) However if they analyse the fuel and find that to be the cause(in other words bad fuel caused the problem) they won’t help you

Basically, there are 3 references for the cylinder heads on your 2.0 Tdi BKD engine. Open the hood, remove the engin cover, and to the rightof the cylinder head, under the metalic fuel lines, you will see a references written upside down, with a letter at the end. The glow plug light will stay on if one or more fail The glow plugs are located under rocker cover and the rocker shafts need to be lifted to get access not a DIY in my opinion The wiring loom that goes to the PD injectors and the glow plugs runs in the hot oil and can fail

I would expect a battery to last 4-5 years however they can fail sooner. Should be easy to get it tested with a “high rate discharge tester” most of the motor factors and fast fit places will test your battarey for free. The battery needs to be fully charged for the test

I think you have a fuel problem It is possible that when you had a fuel filter changed a poor seal was achieved at the filter housing allowing air to get into the system over night When you start car in the morning it has to bleed its self before if fires up Check O ring at filter housing

I litre should be enough DOT 5.1 is the best...be very careful pumping brake pedal it is possiable to turn a seal in the master cylinder.....thats why the garages use atomatic bleeders

I feel a lot of the “sludgy sump” issues with PD engines in down to variable service intervals and wrong oil.On my previous car Octavia VRS 170 PD the first service came due at 18000 miles I think that too long to have oil in a car no matter how good a spec it is.With my new Superb I have chosen fixed servicing at every 10000 miles
