  1. Thanks for the replies, I am trying the car with the caravan next week so will see how it works. Further investigation finds that a Sergeant led adapter box is around £40 but only takes a few minutes to plug in to solve the problem.
  2. Hi , just in the process of changing my caravan and my new Swift van is fitted with led lights. I have heard that some vehicles fitted with vehicle specific trailer wiring do not recognise the very small voltage drop from an led light so assume they are not on. My 2018 Kodiaq has a new dedicated wiring kit . Has anyone encountered any issues towing a van with led type lights? Thanks
  3. Thanks Wiggo and others , just asked as it's the first skoda I have had that does not clear when moving forwards. Another 'simply clever' touch !
  4. My kodiak seems to have an issue where the park assist screen stays on when forward gear is selected for about ten seconds. As the radio volume mutes when in reverse this too stays muted until the screen reverts back to radio. My dealer has looked into this and tells me there is no fault. Anyone else found this or am I being robbed off?
  5. Tip, I just bought the same spec car from a dealer in Reading and am happy to confirm that my motor is returning about 47 on a tank but can reach 60 mpg at a steady 60mph and about 40 around town . Really happy with the car very quiet and refined and even in SE spec very nice. Delivery guy managed 54mpg on the delivery ride up to me!
  6. Hi , I am about to sell my wifes Seat Ibiza , 2010 model and wonder if the spare wheel would be suitable for my 2012 Roomster 1.2tsi. At present I only have the inflation kit with sealant and have thougt of swapping this for the Seat spacesaver and jack. Do you think this would be ok or should I stick with the sealant kit?
  7. thanks to all who replied , but I lost the option to buy the spare I was looking at. Will look again soon
  8. Could anyone advise me if a spare wheel from a mk1 2007 fabia , 15 inch rim , usual five hole fitting would be ok to use as a spare with my 2012 1.2tsi roomster . Dont like the idea of relying on the tyre sealant and pump , thanks
  9. all you lucky people with diesels! Our 1.2 12valve has recently only been driven in the town and we were shocked to find that it only returned 25mpg. The best it has ever returned was 38 on our daily commute on A roads .Very poor for a modern supermini My daughter has a mark 1 fabia that has covered 225 town miles and averages 34mpg.
  10. Just thought I'd report that the motor is now returning about 43 mpg since it passed the 3000 miles mark . better than the original 38mpg. Also engine seems to be more fluid and a little less course sounding. Can surely only get better??
  11. Zebra , we found that the passenger side airbag panel on the top of the dash vibrates at certain low rev ranges .Will mention this to my dealer next time we visit .
  12. Thanks , wooden , now done 3 thousend miles still can't get to the magic 40mpg . Have to admit though that the more I get to drive our motor the emgine tone grows on you. Our last car was a hyundai getz 1.1 gsi and always found it capable of 48 mpg so maybe the absence of one pot does the skoda no favours as far as economy goes. Even after having all skodas in the last 15 years , and this is our tenth model , even the old favourit 1.3 gave 43mpg and the fabia sdi a fantastic 60 mpg. Wish we had not parted with our mark 1 sdi estate for the hyundai but even though the hyundai was a very refined motor it could not match the feel and strength of any skoda. Just wish skoda would publish honest mpg figures and not mislead the buying public.
  13. Reece yes I think you're right it seems louder on the overun/throttle off.Seems a shame that a later development on the moter has worse characteristics /fuel economy
  14. 1.2 70bhp fabia 1 , unfortunatly only 38mpg after 3000 miles
  15. Has anyone noticed that the 12 valve 70bhp 1.2 engine seems to have an annoying whine when motoring along? My daughters 1.2 54 6 valve motor seems much quieter on the move and a more refined drive. Is it something to do with the design of the 12 valve that causes the extra whine? Also , still only managed to get 38 mpg in mostly 38 mile return commutes which is some way short of the claimed 47 and thats driving like granny!! I would welcome any comments and feel a visit to my dealer is on the way
