  1. Surprise, surprise. Diagnostic check picked up "No fault". The authorised repairer in Halifax (no longer a Skoda dealer) told me to take it home and if the car did it again to have it recovered in that state. Needless to say I was not impressed and sure enough the car faulted again just as I was setting out to work. Leaving the car was (not surprisingly) not an option as I needed to get to work so I left it a couple of minutes and it started. I have since taken the car to DM Keith's in Huddersfield where the service receptionist told me that it was a known problem common with both Skoda and VW ignition switches. So, no diagnostic check, just a good working knowledge of the cars she deals with. Car goes in next Saturday with a courtesy car until mine is fixed. I'll keep the forum informed of progress Wayne
  2. Thanks all, Car goes in tomorrow am for diagnostic check and hopefully a fix. I'l let you know what happens Wayne
  3. Anyone got a similar experience of this? On turning the key in the ignition the car does not start and all lights on dash go blank. In fact, everything goes off as is someone has disconnected the battery. After a few moments the display comes back on. Sometimes the car then starts as normal, but on a couple of occasions the whole process is repeated. Luckily the car is still in warranty, but I would be interested to know if this is a known fault. Cheers all Wayne
  4. On my second shelf, now they just replace clips. Not holding my breath!
  5. AAARGH!, Senility kicking in. (or was it alcohol?) I posted the same subject in March. Sorry:orb_blue:
  6. Anyone had problems with the parcel shelf "hinges" breaking? I have had one replaced on warranty and I now have the same problem again. The plastic which forms the spring clip which hangs on the peg is split which means that the shelf is not held securely and often falls off or pulls off with the tailgate. Seems to be a design fault which I would like to point out to the dealer, but before that, I would like to know if anyone else has had similar problems.
  7. Having had the rear parcel shelf replaced under warranty last year, I now find that the replacement has gone the same way as the first. The plastic clips which enable it to hinge on the lugs have split, which means that the shelf lifts off the lugs far too easily and ends up hanging from the tailgate. Anyone else had this problem? I'll be after another replacement soon and would be interested if this is a common design fault.
  8. Went there looking to buy a new Fabia. Salesman was extremely high pressure and tried to sell us a Roomster we didn't want. Needless to say they lost a sale and we went to Lightcliffe in Halifax and got one of their last sales before they became Lightcliffe Nissan. A totally different and pleasurable buying experience, and one which DM Keith should take a lesson from.
  9. First Service carried out by them today. Very good level of service, so will definitely be returning. Nice coffee too!
  10. Having just had the car in for its first service (Simpsons, Colne - Recommended) and while it was clean, I thought a polish would be appropriate. Trouble was that the duster got caught in the "2" badge and pulled it off. Now the question. Do I replace it or not? Am I bothered whether other folk know if its a 1,2,3 or whatever? Not really.Any thoughts?
  11. Chrome insert ones fitted today at £55 a set of 4. Car is just 12 months old and was already showing signs of wear on the sills. Money well spent as far as I'm concerned, and the first in 12 months apart from fuel, so far so good! You only really get one shot at fitting them though as the adhesive strips stick like the proverbial **** to a blanket!! Get it wrong and the metal inserts will surely bend as you try to remove the sill cover. Be careful!
  12. Having had my Fabia 1.2 now for six months, I have yet to find any major fault with the car. We went for the 2 trim level option with all the extras that brings. ( air con, alloys, remote c/l etc) As this was to be a long time investment we thought all these were worth it in the long run. The car is lively when pushed, though not quite up to the Ford 1.25 Zetec in my old Fiesta. Nevertheless it zips along nicely in its hilly Yorkshire home. Economy is not the best, but that's probably down to the driver! Comfort and accomodation space has again been well received by all. Boot space is good for a small car, and with rear seats down can shift some large items. Radio/CD gets some hammer especilly as it can play MP3 CDs with over 200 tracks per CD, with this who needs a multichanger? Even at full volume the speakers (and car) cope without creating rattles and distortion. Overall the car has been a good buy, and I recommend it to all who ask what I think of it. Been back to dealer only once since purchased with a minor parcel shelf problem, and due to be sorted in due course. Well pleased!! :)
