  1. If they needed helper springs why are they still located when I jack the car up and have the wishbone off (so longest the strut can go while attached to the hub). This may sound stupid, but often the simple things are over looked, but has everyones coilovers been installed correctly? In the order this pic shows? topmount, bearing, spring, strut?
  2. Mines a PD130 beeza, so same as the VRs really
  3. I've got Weitec's on my Mk4 Ibiza, now I have replaced my wishbone bushes and gearbox mount bush, I have no knocking, banging or any noises like that! On a car over 3 years old I always say its best to replace the top mounts and bearings while your doing the suspension as they are fairly cheap for most cars! APs, Weitecs, KWs, etc don't need helpers as the springs are multi-stiffness (don't know what the technical term is!), so there are some coils of the spring which will touch when there is weight on it, but expand lots when its jacked up, hence no need for helpers
  4. Had a search but only really found this result (click me) My dads Fab VRs had the emissons light come on on Sunday while driving around town, he said power is normal (so not in limp) and when we looked in the manual it says it should come up with 'emissions workshop' which it didn't! Sooo drove to work and back on monday and tuesday (50ish miles each way of A roads, little bit of M-way and some twisties), told him to give it some stick thinking it could be a clogged EGR, no change, so scanned it last night, which gave this error 17055 - Cylinder 1 Glow Plug Circuit (Q10): Electrical Fault P0671 - 35-00 Cleared it, turned engine on and light had gone off. I think it stayed off on the way to work but came on early on the way back. The car itself is an 06 plate which has done around 105k IIRC. What do people think it is? Glow plugs gone and need changing?
  5. Yeah, around the back of the cinema, we usually park up against the wall nearest the train line, but I think this time we will just take over the place!
  6. Posted over from Ibiza Owners Club... (posted in Yorkshire section too as its on the border really!) So, I was thinking Sunday 31st Jan, usual pub meet, 2-4-1. 8. How much did people pay for their replacement turbos? (standard pd130 jobbie) and btw, he ended up getting about 20-25% off, so whole lot came in at about £1500
  9. Update, turbo has blown apart, its is likely that bits have gone into the IC but they don't know yet :thumbdwn: Skoda UK may be paying for it, so the dealers aren't ordering any parts until they know how the bills getting paid :thumbdwn::eek: And it also looks like they can't give him a courtesy car either for some reason
  10. Car has done 94k, is 3years 6months old. Is actually the 2nd turbo, as the first turbo was replaced after about 2k miles as the seals weren't in correctly so it leaked oil.
  11. My dad was driving home earlier (standard fabia VRs 06 plate), he slowed down and stopped while a lorry was pulling in to a layby, went to pull off and nothing, the engine then cut out. It would turn over fine, but not fire. When Mr AA man came out, he took one of the boost pipes off and smoke came out. with that pipe off it would start up, but not rev. The AA man said there was oil underneath too. This sound like the turbo has blown?
  12. Does anyone know, in a stripped out car with only the basic electrics (lights and windows) do you just need a battery which will match up to the cranking rate? As most lightweight batteries have a low Ah rating
  13. Whats the specification on the standard battery for the VRs? Just need the power ratings not the actual sizes. thanks
  14. On my fathers 06 plate vRS, the speedometer goes from 90mph in big font straight to 110mph in small font, with no space for 100mph. Are they all like that? Is it a misprint?
