  1. Just tried to 'build' a Fabia Estate for my father - no joy. The car configurator is mentioned in the FAQs, but no link. Pretty poor showing really!
  2. After just over a month of ownership, I still think that car is great! Ride quality can be adjusted - normally, the suspension is left to adjust itself automatically, which gives a soft ride. However, you can engage the sports suspension setting, which firms it up nicely for 'pressing on' through the corners, without shattering your inards when going over every piece of grit on the road. Fuel economy is acceptable being a petrol V6 and auto 'box. If anyone wants a 4 seater coupe that rides well, and has a decent amount of luggage space and kit, then the 407 is worth a look. The shape is 'challenging' for some, but, if you can get past that and the badge, then you could have a fine car indeed.
  3. Took it on a longish run and manage to get nearly 26mpg! Fuel economy was improving as the miles went by and the engine began to free up. OK, for you TDi boys, 26mpg is poor, but for a heavy brute of a car (nearly 1.8 tons)with a petrol V6 and auto box, and only a couple of hundred miles on it at present, not too worried.
  4. I don't smoke and don't drink - nor do I do a Max Mosely and have sessions with call girls. I have to have a vice of some sort! Plus I had a fairly good trade-in price for mine (better than was offered from the Skoda dealer that sold me the car in the first place).
  5. Looks quite good too in the flesh - the Passat CC that is. New Superb looks pretty nice from the pcitures - although not sure about the 'smiley' mouth on the steering wheel! Is it all part of the 'Manufacturers of Happy Drivers'?
  6. The car looks a lot better in the flesh than in the pictures - particularly with dark red leather seats!
  7. Well, just to annoy you all, I've decided to go ahead and buy the 3.0 V6 Auto at a saving of over 8 grand on list.
  8. Interesting this. Just been into the local Peugeot dealer and they have a 407 Coupe 3.0 V6 SE Auto on an 07 plate with delivery miles at over 8 grand off list. Still covered in its wax at present. Took a 2.7 V6 HDi for a test drive - very smooth and quiet - very impressed. Going to see the 3.0 V6 on Wednesday! Have provisionally said I'll take the 3.0 V6 if they can meet a couple of conditions for me.
  9. So, what is going to happen to the one you originally ordered? Cancel the order, or will that suddenly appear on the Grimsby dockside, ready to tempt someone else who is waiting for theirs to be built?
  10. I think the vRS looks very nice in comparison to other cars that go for a 'sporty'. The styling issue is fairly subjective as some people say the 'look' of the MG variants of the Rover 25, 45 and 75 (ZR, ZS, ZT) is too OTT. In my opinion (since I am on my second MG - not biased in any way:P) the MG 'Z' series and the Skoda Octavia vRS all look fantastic.
  11. Quite a good review in the Motoring section of The Daily Telegraph on 14th June.
  12. Honest John in today's Daily Telegraph Motoring Section is begining to question the economics of diesel-powered cars. Specifically, the increasing number of component failures (dual-mass flywheels, clutches, injectors, turbos, intercoolers; EGRs etc) and their associated costs.
