  1. Hi robw, VW Heritage do rear anti roll bars for air cooled beetles, both swing axle & IRS ,about £100 per set, dont know if they would fit,but worth having a chat, have a look at their site, Pete
  2. Hi johnnyHS, Left hand threads are used to tighten against the turning effect of motion , where righthand threads would loosen ie, bike peddles, 1s lefthand1s righthand, but if lefthand threaded, replacement bolt must be L/H, also Pete, covskoda
  3. HI JohnnyHS, have you checked its not a left hand thread? If it is ,all your effort will be tightening the bolt, If you have an electric drill, and HHS drill bits, drill a small hole centrally down the bolt, then enlarge it with each bigger size, until close to the thead & use studd extracters, which turn anti clockwise, only works on right hand threads though, Pete, covskoda
  4. Hi skunkola, The last time I did this job, I borrowed a one off puller from the local village garage, that they used for early vw beetles & some obscure peugeot or similar. It was made from 3/8" steel, basiclly a square plate 8" x 6" with a hole big enough to pass over the axle nut,& 4 slots to fit the wheel studs, attached by 4 legs of 1" square bar, about 3" long welded to a second plate 5/8" thick x 5" square, with a hole cut centrally about which a large nut was welded, like 11/2",af or similar. a long bolt of corresponding size had the end champhered to fit the hub nut internally, This was bolted to to the wheel studs, once the axle nut was loosened to the end of its thread, the large bolt was then tightened until the hub jumped free. A thick bar was passed through the legs to prevent the hub turning. A skaffold bar is used as a cheater bar to undo the axle nut as it is tight.147ft lbs, 200nm .Pete
  5. Hi all, just completed the quiz & scored 90%, however; the official quiz answer to question 3 ,(Favorit) is incorrect, as I believe the car is a Felicia, 994/996, produced1959/64, Pete, Covskoda
  6. Hi h39 , I suggest blocked rainwater drains in the trough that the wiper & washer bottle sit in. They are rubber tubes which run from each corner of the trough into the wheel arch. A fiexabie wire or similar will clear them but they are easily remove able to reseal with mastic once cleared, Pete,Covskoda.
  7. Hi h39, regret no tensioners at all, either externally or internally, these engines do become rattlely with use & the only cure is to replace the chain & sprockets as a set. They used to be readily available & inexpensive. Try Paul ( skudman) at SKOPARTS INTERNATIONAL. See the Skoda forum on zeta boards, Pete, covskoda
  8. Hi Mr Christopher Linton' please see the" News & Announcements " section ,Birth Certificates for Skoda classics dated 31 October 2013, explains all,Pete, Covskoda, UK.
  9. Hi h39,the brake master cylinder sits vertically on top of the servo, operated via a pushrod from the brake pedal. If the cylinder is leaking ,fluid dribbles down the back of the brake peddle in the foot well. Pete
  10. Hi h39, l would suspect the master cylinder seals have failed if the car has not been used for some time. The master cylinder is of the twin ciruit type & if the seals fail fluid just flows between the two circuits. Check for fluid contamination coming from the dust cover around the pedals. Pete
  11. Hi Duggie, If the yobbo's mother was sorry her horrid offspring wrecked your car, how about a contribution towards the damage say £170 , paid for by pawning the ratbags nintendo DS, playstation 3 , BMX , and denying him anything other than the basic needs of life for some months, Covskoda
  12. Hi Tenman, Butts of Bawtry, Doncaster supplied a reduction gear starter motor, for my Estelle, some years ago that was a straight fit & far superior to the standard item, I regret not removing it when I sold the car on, might be worth talking to them. On Ebay now standard starter, but seems expensive No.370193361981 £59.60 + £10 p.p. Pete. P.S you can usually get starters rebuilt or checked OK locally, try yellow pages for your area.
  13. Hi all, if you watch the film "UPIR Z FERATO" on YOU TUBE you will see both the Ferat & 1100gt uvum side by side. The Ferat is an1981 revamp of the1971 Skoda 110 Supersport prototype, a little like a Lotus Europa, specially modified for the film, adding a large spoiler, louvre rear window & bank of spot lights. The red coupe appears to be a customised version of the original prototype now sporting alloys and later rear view mirrors. The SAAB school think that Skoda took their inspiration from the Sonnet 11 for the 1100GT , Covskoda
  14. Hi all, red coupe is a Skoda 1100GT UVMV prototype, based upon S110R mechanicals, built in 1971 75HP rear engine. Covskoda
  15. Hi alfcapone, brake inefficiency sounds like servo not working which is probably because the vacuum pipe from the inlet manifold is perished or blocked, often just the 1st few inches( cms) caused by the heat from the exhaust. As a quick test disconnect pipe and run a dry garden hose between inlet manifold and servo , if brakes improve you can then replace the pipe which runs in the tunnel beneath the car held by the long plate with 6 or 8 bolts, Pete Covskoda . PS., the original pipe is often long enough to trim the damaged part off and reattach if measured carefully.
