  1. Firstly, apologies for poorly describing the problem in the original post. It seems it wasn't the oil light but the coolant light that was coming on. I got the car back this afternoon from my local independent. It turns out the coolant was being lost from where the temperature sensor fits into the radiator, tightening this up should have solved that issue. As described by sepulchrave, my independent agrees that the emulsified oil around the filler cap is normal for this engine. Short runs and condensation mean mayonnaise. Apologies for having been a dipstick and thanks for all the replies.
  2. Thanks for the interest - its due in on Monday at my local independent and will post on the outcome.
  3. Thanks for all the replies - I will get it to my local independent as soon as. I will post on the outcome!
  4. Hi All, Hoping someone can give me some advice - I have a 2001 Fabia 1.4 16v on about 70k miles. It started with the oil warning light coming on briefly - checked the oil level its ok. Then the oil warning light started sticking on so I looked further and I noticed the coolant is very low and on removing the oil filler cap I found a thick creamy substance around the thread. I cant see any cream in the coolant reservoir. Is this head gasket? Thanks, Porl.
  5. Hi All, I have a 2004 comfort 1.9PD. The AC stopped working this morning and the external temperature sensor on the AC unit read "--". Oddly the maxidot outside temperature still read ok and the AC unit would only blow ambient air. This evening it worked fine, any ideas what to look out for? Is there only one external temp sensor, could it be a dodgy connection? Thanks for any advice, Paul.
  6. Hi All, I'm looking for a decent after market stereo that will work with the CD changer and hopefully the steering wheel controls in my 2004 superb comfort. It has to read MP3 from a data CD also. What have you fitted? What would you recommend? Thanks!
  7. Thanks chaps, its supposed to be ready tomorrow, so will know more then. In the mean time I have a 2 litre diesel 3 series bimmer which is quite a nice drive.
  8. My superb received a shunt from behind. It's in the body shop and needs a new rear bumper/boot/parking radar and a ton of clips. What should I look out for when picking it up? Has anyone else had similar damage done? Thanks!
  9. Glad you got it sorted, I was gutted when I heard you had the wrong sensor. Also good to know it can be done all from above, I had trouble finding the damn thing so ended up removing undertrays. Does the car run better now? Cheers, P.
  10. Thanks for the part number. I had a look under the bumper and things look different for me. I can only get to one of the sensors from below, there are just too many obstructions to get to the other sensors. Off to find my Torx bits....
  11. Hi, Could you let me know the part number? I have the same problem currently! Cheers, Paul.
  12. After two days I finally shifted a foot of snow off the car. I lifted the passenger footwell mat to have a peek for any water but the carpet seems extremely well secured so I didnt go any further, where exactly should I go to have a look for water ingress? Cheers!
  13. You should be ok to re-use the existing clip, they are made of very tough plastic. The clip has part# 032121142 Did you get a new o-ring? I replaced mine just in case.
  14. I found the old sensor - here is a photo. Note that the new sensor has a green plastic cap around it rather than black.
