  1. The front end is worse than the MkIII facelift. Only 30 mile range on electric power. Wouldn't be my £25K.
  2. IMHO the face lift MKIII looks garbage! The lights are clumsy looking and the solid piece in the middle of the grille does nothing to improve it. The lines of the lights and grille look so much of an imbalance. The MKIII pre-face list vRS looks great from the front with the lines of the headlights flowing nicely into the grille but the face lift just looks like some f*****d up design proposal that unexplainably got signed off! If I was trading in I would go for the Superb Sportline which is the best looking saloon in the Skoda range. 280bhp & 4x4 is getting into Impreza territory (but with the price to match).
  3. All the manufacturers are up to this trick now. Never tried the can of goo and compressor but I guess it's how severe the damage is. A full size 18" wheel & tyre fits in the wheel well. I just picked up a VW scissor jack to be safe.
  4. When I look at the front of the FL MkIII it just looks so completely bad. Can't believe they would sign that off at the design stage. They have ruined the lines on the front of the car. Guess I will be keeping my MkIII for a little longer as I would never buy that model.
  5. Shame on you! Some fat burd will have to walk 50yds to the shop.
  6. Take up 2 spaces. There is always some **** that parks next to a cherished car. Don't know why car park lining is still based on Ford Anglia size cars. Just another general annoyance like the state of our 'roads'.
  7. I have a Meteor Grey vRS and it's a very individual colour, however just like Subaru rally blue it's not long before they all start copying. Audi use it and Ford & Mini have similar grey colours in their range. Colour choices are not great IMHO. The problem is the 18" wheels/tyres are tooooooooooooo skinny. The Audi alloys would look superb on the vRS.
  8. Buy a tin a panel wipe from your local automotive paint supplier. It will remove sticker adhesive in minutes and is not harmful to trim, paint etc.
  9. Looks like a non-descript boring american saloon rather than a euro taxi! Subaru did the same with the Impreza, every facelift was more hideous and sales figures dropped. It's change for changes sake not to improve the model. Wish they would improve the narrow wheel/tyre stance on the vRS. Looks great on a photoshop brochure but in reality it's a different beast. Why does Skoda not put facelift mock-ups on owners forums like this and gauge what the reaction is? Owners forums are the perfect place to see what the paying owners are liking and disliking about their cars. Do the manufacturers read them? Who knows. Don't think I'll be changing my MKIII for this facelift any time soon.
  10. Always said that a Superb estate would be the perfect hire car in the States for getting all your luggage in and 4 passengers with plenty of room. Would be streets ahead of the SUV type gas guzzling crap I've had on every holiday. One day the penny will drop.
  11. My vRS has just touched 12K miles and is 2 yr old, however the OEM fitted Bridgestones are ALL showing small cracks on the shoulders. Due in for it's 2yr service this week so I will be raising the point. Wouldn't touch these tyres again. Continental every time. They always come out top in the EVO mag tyre tests.
  12. I've fitted the Superskoda lifters and they work perfectly, however they don't come supplied with any washers so some s/steel penny washers for the wing bolts and 2 thin washers on each bonnet fitting do the job perfectly. I'll post up some photos. Bolt thread size are the same so they are relatively easy to install. £40 is good value as they look decent quality.
  13. With VW diesels now becoming the devils chariot will this model be a viable launch? With the increased weight I would say that 184bhp is not enough to light the fire. A tuned tFSI would be a more desirable option but the price is creeping up & up toward £30K. Glad i bought a petrol vRS.
  14. I asked the dealer in Glasgow where I bought my Vrs from to do this at the weekend when they were resetting the oil change warning. Over an hour later they came back saying that the couldn't do it as they used different software! Is this not standard VagCom software? I even took in a printout of what the required code setting is. They said they would have to charge me for it as they had never done it before. I said, don't bother. I'm not paying for incompetance and I'll go elsewhere. Surely this is an easy software change?
  15. My Mk III is my third vRS Octy and I love it. Done 2K miles now and I think the engine is starting to loosen up a bit now. Really nice to drive and feels like a great quality car. Love the Meteor Grey colour and have yet to see another one on the road so they must be pretty rare. Lots of hatchbacks, however! Still think the 18" wheels are too weedy for the body though.
  16. I got hit with similar quotes when I bought my new vRS and told them swivel on it. This leaves a sour taste in your mouth when you know it is a blatant rip off. Are they not making enough on the new car? I don't think so. I also spent 1/2 hr on the computer and got my own cheaper finance deal that they couldn't match. Maybe that's why I never got a Xmas card from them!
  17. Agree totally, even though I changed my MKII vRS FL hatch to the MKIII vRS hatch. If you could put the MKIII interior into the MKII FL body it would be perfect. The wheels are too narrow for the arches, the boot spoiler is too non-descript, (you can hardly get underneath it to clean it), the long rear reflective is pants. I think a few modifications are required. Pity as the 'photoshop' versions in the catalogues and TV adverts look totally different (ride height and wheel proportions). Still admire the MKII FL vRS when I see a nice clean one on the road.
  18. Insulating tape and tie wraps are options apparently!
  19. Meteor Grey, original and totally cool. Race Blue is a Scooby rip off. White is the new silver. Black looks good for 1 week after bringing it home from the showroom. Steel/silver metallics look like every other car in the car park. Yellow depreciates like a Vauxhall. Red is OK but doesn't stand out in a crowd. Grey will be copied by all the other manufacturers by the end of the summer. New Ford Focus RS already being advertised in grey.
  20. Banksie, this link is regarding bumper protector???
  21. Winter pack with the heated seats and front screen are brilliant options for the winter, whilst the sunroof would be great for the summer. Privacy rear glass in the dark winter weather is a nightmare when reversing (from my previous experience) and you can fit a portable Satnav that a) can be fitted more in the line of sight and you can keep for use in any other cars so this would be my decision - black pack & winter option.
  22. I thought the Bridgestones on my new vRS looked 'under-tyred' for the rims compared with MkII vRS rims and it was one of the sticking points in for me buying the new model. Continental tyres had a nice rim protection on them and although this won't prevent kerb damage they will help stone/gravel damage being thrown up from the abysmal roads we pay to drive on.
  23. Hi Banksie, Do you have any photos of this V2 hatch spoiler fitted as I can't see any in the thread posts? It certainly looks much better than the standard vRS version which is disappointing to say the least, however I was hoping it would be a straight swap into the original bolt positions. The Mk II spoiler was much better and it's one of the downsides of the new model which detracts from the attraction of the vRS model. Is the V2 spoiler made from simple GRP and not polycarbonate? Is the quality and fit good baring in mind it needs painted? Happy New Year.
  24. Just picked up my new one last weekend - TSi hatch, Meteor Gray, 18 Anthracite alloys, winter pack, black pack, colour maxidot, Bluetooth etc. Drives well compared with the FL model but will obviously need to loosen up a bit. Nice interior but I still think it looks a bit weedy from the outside. The wheels look too small and I think the tyres look small as they don't have wide shoulders or rim protection like the Continentals. Boot spoiler is too small but after some modifications I think some improvements will be made. Bad time of the year to get a new car when the clocks have changed and the weather is ****.
  25. Hi Svensken, 8 months to wait on a new car, no chance! Maybe if was a 911 I could take that but not for a Skoda. Those 19's still look under 'tyred' and don't fill the bodywork at all. I can't convince myself to go for the MkIII vRS. It just doesn't look the quality car it should be for the price. When you look at an A4 or A5 (on 19's) the stance and looks of the car just look perfect. OK, they are more expensive but I just think Skoda haven't made styling improvements over the MkII with this model and hike in price doesn't make it an attractive buy.
