Front windscreen wipers not working
vr6yorks replied to frank2015's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
Many thanks for the advice. I'll work my way through them in a process of elimination. Thanks for the heads up on the LH & RH motors. Re the card reader I'd just take it back for a refund if it doesn't fit, they don't usually quibble. If I get any fault codes I'll post on them here. Cheers, Martin. -

Front windscreen wipers not working

I've had this recently, scared the crap out of me, and pulled onto the hard shoulder. After a couple of minutes I found they'd still work in the "one click up" flick switch mode. Stopped raining by the time I was home so promptly forgot all about it until the next time I was out in the rain (a common occurrence) and it happened again. They still work , though I use them sparingly at the minute and only risk using the intermittent wipe mode. I'm thinking that they wouldn't work at all if the motor was shot. Can I trust a new £15 motor of Ebay? Or should I look for fault elsewhere, would this type of fault show up on an OBD reader? Aldi or Lidl are selling an OBD11 reader for about £16 but not sure if they work on mk Octavia? -
Will this work with 2003 Octavia PD130?

Yes, a wheel with an ET figure above 42, say 47 (assuming it's the same width, diameter is unimportant) will go inwards, by 5 mm, towards the suspension and could foul on brakes, suspension setup or even inner wing, whereas a wheel with an ET figure of say 37 will move outwards, by 5 mm, and could foul on the outer bodywork or catch on rear arch when fully laden. I'd stick to between 37 and 42 to be safe. Also a wheel of the same size, stud pattern and ET figure is still not guaranteed to fit, as certain spoke patterns do not always clear the brake callipers.

Hi Dutch 4x4, Can you point me towards any Dutch dealers that are RHD friendly? Cheers, Martin H.

Is there any difference in the front brakes between the RS hatch and RS estate? Thought I'd read the hatch had 312mm discs, but would 312 discs fit inside 16 inch wheels. Are the front brakes on the RS difference to the 4x4 150T? Are Skoda about to bring out the Octavia with 130PD TDI? Only Auto-Express says it's going to be availble from April 1st but my local dealer knows nothing about it & no mention on Skodas site. As a previous poster also mentioned 130PD 4x4 add me to that wish list. VAG are doing it in the Passat, so why not the O. Cheers, MH.
