  1. Afternoon All, We have had our 1.0 Monte Carlo for around 6 weeks now, and no matter how either of us drive it, the initial moving off is always jerky( for want of a better explanation).....its as if you have either dipped the clutch or the power dips, this comes on any surface, handbrake not on, normal driving..... Any one else suffered this? car is booked into local dealer for a second time, first time at two weeks old, it needed something on the clutch pedal as the cruise control, stop start and gear indicator were not working, they did not find a fault with the throttle at that time, so we decided to do a few more miles and see if it was us.....but now its going back as Stop /Start is back giving an error, the gear indicator keeps flashing in 6th at 70 miles an hour telling us to go down a gear, might be interesting in the 1.0, and throttle response is spoiling the car...... Any advice greatfully received Thanks Dave
  2. Hi all, After some advice from anyone who has made the switch from an Octy 3 VRS TDI to a Karoq 150hp diesel. I am coming to the end of my lease on my Octavia and quite fancy a Karoq Sportline 2.0 tdi 150hp, however I cannot find a demo to drive to see what the performance drop really feels like. I don tend to drive my Octy that hard, but I do like to put my foot down from time to time and don't want to get a 3 yr lease on the Karoq to find I have made the wrong choice. What is the Karoq like day to day, does it feel as quick with the same push that the Octavia has with the assistance of the 4wd or would it need to be worked harder to get the same go? Appreciate all comments from people who have made the switch, currently trying to track down a demo within reasonable distance to Newcastle to have a go myself. Thanks Dave
  3. Morning all, Currently thinking of leasing a 245 DSG Challenge spec when my current lease ends in September, and coming from VRS TDI, am curious to know what sort of figures people are getting in the real world. Obviously there will be a hit compared to the 50ish I get now, my daily commute is 50 miles, mostly motorway however that motorway is the A1 around Newcastle and anyone local will know how congested it gets so no real chance to cruise in 6th. Reading up online and checking honest john seems to show a roundabout figure of low 30`s, so would be interested to hear from current owners. Cheers Dave
  4. My wife bought a Monte Carlo yesterday, but luckily was sitting in the showroom in colour and spec she wanted, all sorted and should have it in a week or so. Coupled with the dealer doing a great deal as he wanted registrations this month, happy days all round. Remember ordering my first Mk3 Octy VRS, that took 4 months to come and seemed a long time, so hope the 6 months is not correct for those waiting unless you are more patient than me
  5. Hi mate, i had the thing on my 63 plate vrs, dealer replaced clutch slave cylinder which helped but did not fully resolve the issue. Car was traded not long after
  6. Afternoon all, Got a question for anyone with a late model VRS TDI, mines a 66. In this current cold spell, if you have the Climate on high, does your tickover go to around 1200rpm and stay there? Just noticed this with mine, and my previous 63 plater did not do this, the high tickover appears to remain until car is fully warm, then settles back to normal. Takes me back to my early cars with a choke when you had to keep the revs up to prevent them stalling Thanks Dave
  7. Welcome along, On my second mk3 VRS and had a Mk2 before that, great cars, just up the road in Blyth
  8. Hi, This is my latest summer ride 2013 Anniversary Fireblade Dave
  9. Morning Ian, so you have taken the plunge and joined the Skoda brigade..... What you getting, hatch or estate, what colour? Cheers Dave
  10. Thanks for the reply, guess that answers the question. Yes it is on fixed rather than variable, they said it was part of the plan with the 3 year fixed services. I will get it booked in then, Cheers Dave
  11. Hi, This appeared on dash this morning, car is 8 months old with 8600 miles on clock, anyone else had it? IF so did you ignore till 10,000 interval or did you go in early for service. Sure I had the same thing on Fabia Vrs a couple of years ago, something to do with the factory setting or conversion, but for the life of me cvannot remember what I did...... Might ring the stealer anyway as the service is free...... Thanks Dave
  12. Interesting as they told me the jack was different........I can get the insert, jack etc for £45 from Ebay, so might go down that route......then just find a wheel Thanks Dave
  13. Hi All, Has anyone purchase the spare wheel, and all the other bits for a Octy VRS? I just rang my local dealer and was told the price for spare wheel, tyre, jack, foam insert etc plus fitting was £320...... Now that seems an awful lot when I should have just ticked the options when I got the car, plus not sure what is required in terms of fitting, surely just take out existing insert, and replace with new one..... Will try a different dealer for a comparison, but if anyone can give me an idea it would be much appreciated. Thanks Dave
  14. I have been since they moved the RAC to become the South Wales tour, not the same anymore.....might see if the historics come , as Mk2 `s and Sunbeams would be great
  15. Think if the stage start is just over the dam, that is called Falstone, used on the RAC many moons ago........Good stage, watched there and all over Kileder many a time, RAC, Pirelli etc......
  16. Hi all, Only ever used water and shampoo on my wheels, with a wash mitt I keep for the wheels only and use a 2 bucket method. Car is washed every week by me, dont trust anyone else to do it and the wheels are always wiped dry with a soft cloth.... Not that impressed with the quality of the wheels, but I do like the Anhtracite wheels as the car is white with black pack. Dealer was honest, said they have had a load on other models , not seen so many Octy Vrs ( yet) as I dont know how many they have sold. Wheels and caps were ordered whislt I was there, takes a couple of days and then get them fitted, sadly no I dont get to keep as they go back to Skoda as a warranty claim.....Did joke as to how many wheels I will have over the length of the pcp if 5 months is the time for the damage to appear..... Will keep you all posted Dave
  17. Hi guys, Well after washing the car yesterdat, noticed some white marks on ond if the spokes of my front alloy, felt the laquer , no damage so appeared to be water ingress. Phoned dealer today and called in to see the service manager, car put on ramps for close inspection of all four alloys, result is i need two new alloys and four centre caps, on a 5 month old car which is washed every week without fail. Not a good advert for a 24 grand car but there you go. Cheers Dave
  18. Hi and welcome..... Might see you around, as I live in Blyth and travel down the A1 to Team Valley each day in my White Mk3 VRS estate...... Dave
  19. Very true George, 3rd owner on an 18 months old car so next one needs to keep it a while. Dealer was a little optimistic with 12000 price, now at 11000 with a bit of haggling could make it a good buy Dave
  20. Hi mate, I have a white vrs estate and travel daily to team valley down the A1 and have noticed a similar experience, which is great. Enjoy your car i got mine at the end of oct after a 14 week wait and love mine Dave
  21. Hi all, The fabia was registered on the day i test drove it so only 7 miles on clock. It had a few extra, nothing special as dealer chose them. The deal i got on the new octavia was around 1000 off list coupled with the trade in figure meant i was very happy Dave
  22. Hi all, Traded my 2012 12 Fab VRS in at the end of October, to a Skoda dealer, and just noticed it is still on their website, but now for £200 quid less than I got as a trade in, £11000. It only has 17000 ish miles on it, although it is a basic spec as was dealer demo for a day before I got it, but seems cheap for a car with 16 months warranty left. Is this the sign of things to come, as the motoring public becomes more aware of the issues with the engine or just a confirmation that it appeals to a small minority of the car buying public. I did enjoy the car for the most part, performance was great, economy was okish , it liked to rattle inside, and as for the brakes, well that is one area for an upgrade. Still around here as moved onto an Mk3 Octavia VRS ( well another one as had mk2 as well) diesel....... Cheers Dave
  23. Mine have 2500 on it now, never been in eco, mostly normal and occasional sport..... Have a 50 mile daily commute, round the congestion that is Newcastle, light has never come on below 400, get close to 500 miles per tank, so think it is averaging 50mpg...... Much more than the Fabia VRS it replaced so I am quite happy....still to do a long run to see how it goes. Mate has a 2012 320D saloon, on a run to Birmigham and back in Novemebr, we got 62mpg but it was on cruise control most of the way set at a steady 80.........
  24. Enjoy, sure you will..... Love mine, got a candy white TDi estate at the end of October, never looked back....great car...
  25. Mine is a Vrs in White, ordered on 20th July, was postponed from Week 37 so really hope it does not get bumped again
