  1. OK, thanks. Will talk to them tomorrow and see how Bristol's dealer handles it but good to know that it can be obtained.
  2. New engine fitted and picking up tomorrow. Has anyone had the warranty extended on the engine or as I was told over the phone, it is only warranted along side the existing warranty. In my case only another 8 months. Said this was concerning as we don't do a lot of miles and any issues may not become apparent in this period. He did say Skoda would still offer some cover after this period but not an official warranty. Anyone has dealings with arguing a longer warranty on the engine? Understand other areas wont be covered after 3 years
  3. No issues with not checking oil here .....Car owned 4 weeks and bought knowing of oil consumption issues with this model. Decided to gamble on it , knowing it had 8 months warranty left and intended on getting it in ASAP if I had any concerns over oil. Checked oil 6 times over the last 4 weeks and didn't actually have an issue with the oil consumption. Might have gone down a little but was planning on getting more evidence on usage before I could make an accurate decision. No idea if the warning light was related to oil but they have found something wrong with the engine.
  4. About to have engine replaced this Wednesday. 2013 with 22,500 miles. Went in after EPC light flicked on once, which led to an oil consumption test being carried out. Had a call yesterday to say new engine on order, being fitted Wednesday. Not had any info as to whether the oil consumption has caused the EPC error ( cylinder shut down error ). Will ask a bit more when I go down.
  5. It went in due to the EPC light coming on during a trip then didn't come on again. I scanned it myself and then got the main dealer to check it out what they thought. They haven't really told me what the fault code or issue was, just said they were going to do an oil consumption test. Presuming the cylinder shut off message may be oil related but don't know. From what I have read I assumed I would get the car back to run it for another 600 miles then take back to have oil weighed/measured. This wasn't the case, they said they would carry out the test over 2 days....unsure how? Got a call saying a new engine was required after presuming it failed the test. Thought was a bit quick to test but I'm not too bothered if the final result is a new engine. Will mention the extended warranty as only got 7 months left on original one and we don't cover that many miles a month/year
  6. Quick update....Into main dealer who initially said they couldn't find a fault relating to EPC. I said what about the code relating to cylinder shut down? After a minute on hold they said they would investigate further.......they kept the car to carry out the oil consumption test, 2 days later just had call to say a new engine on order, will be fitted Wednesday!
  7. Quite a bit of reading to do on fuel to use in a VRS.....wont be that early a night now!
  8. Cheers for replies..... fuel I'm not sure on today. I put super unleaded in, not sure about wife. Is standard unleaded a big No No with these engines? Service history is main dealer and stamped up in book but no mention of DSG service. Will ask that question as no real history of whats been done apart from the book being stamped couple of times.
  9. Wife was driving our newly acquired 2013 VRS down the M4 today when the EPC light came on. Told her to check brakes after a quick forum search but were fine. On starting again EPC light gone and car out of limp mode. I scanned it with VAG COM tonight and got the following code. Cant find any reference to it on forum or Google so any ideas. Will be phoning main dealer tomorrow as well. Cheers 1 Fault Found: 16426 - Glow Ignition P306D 00 [096] - Cylinder Shut-Off Intermittent - Not Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear Freeze Frame: Fault Status: 00000001 Fault Priority: 2 Fault Frequency: 1 Mileage: 36720 km Date: 2028.14.22 Time: 12:06:22
  10. Stott, Thanks for offer. I will see if I can the Bosch numbers. be anle to get the original one. Not sure about being able to get them for possible ones I might try to fit but wil see.
  11. I mtrying to find if any other VAG alternators will fit my Fabia 2002 1.4 MPi (with air con). Currently its a 90 amp Bosch part number 037 903 025M which I m to replace 2nd hand but struggle to find exact one. Does any know how the VAG part numbering works on their alternators and whether other VAG alternators will fit. eg Will a 90 amp Bosch 037 903 025F or a 90 amp Bosch 037 903 025**(what ever letter) Cheeers
  12. Ref bonnet not closing...... double check the release catch by the pedals has gone back to its closed position and not stuck on the mat etc Catch in my golf used to stay in open position unless manually pushed back. No ammount of slamming bonnet would close it.
