Thanks all, Yes missed that bit out it is a TD! right so its normal then. If I wanted to improve it what would be the best way? More tourqe from a remap? or filter and exaush to improve breathing/lag? Cheers, Paul

Hi all, New to the Octavia Vrs (2008 17,500 Miles)just had it two weeks now but starting to feel a bit odd now I am getting used to it. it feels like i am always in the wrong gear when changing down, if the revs are below 15000 in 3rd or higher it struggles like hell. At first put it down to me but it still keeps catching me out! I am not talking about driving the car hard for this more just pottering home from work. (although when pushing on I seem to over compensate and go down too many gears!!) Last car was a Golf 150 TDi anniversary which was also 6 speed and with less tourqe but pulled a lot better at low revs. I have tried to find some info to compare the gearing between the two cars but have not up to now. after a bit of advice from longer time owners, do you find you have to rev it to get it to pull? how do you find they compares to other desels? are they higher geared than most??? I read the notes in the MkII Escort, not many pics as we did not last long One on here: Our Jim Clark Outing This was our first run on the Jim Clark in the challenge event, the Tour of Mull is normally our main event of the year some other photos here: Team-Autotec this was completly different to mull, a lot faster but great fun. We hope to have another go next year. Our event ended with stone damage to the oil cooler supply, probably happend while we where passing someone as we caught 3 cars over Abbey. we coasted over flying finish but got a time (although I did not bother to hand the time card in) we did 14:29 which is encouraging for a first run. We have had the sump off this week and it has just picked up on a couple on shells. So we have been lucky it did not do more damage and we can go to Mull later this year. Just lost the fun, the commute to work has increased so Mr Brown is getting a bigger cut of my money every time I fill the tank!! They have backdated the road tax hike so I now fall in to this bracket as well The plan is to sell this and run a cheaper road car the Vrs and have a couple of grand left over to buy something to have a go at some single venue rallies/hill climbs/road rallies, something FUN. That’s if I can sell it that is, I think there are a lot of others thinking the same. Thanks, Paul

Thanks for the comments These were taken with my old Minolta A2, a good camera but had to make way for something quicker as rallying is my main choice for photography. using a Canon 40D now which is a world apart, a cracking camera Thanks, Paul

Thanks Matt, Is it a 3 year Warrantee on the Fabia? and what are the servicing costs like? Not sure if to go for one just out of Warrantee so I can add some mods

Hello all, First post and all that.... Anyway I am thinking of buying a Fabia Vrs and have a few questions after trawling the forums. I am currently running a Impreza and the first mods for this was a full decat system to improve the breathing, reading some posts on here people mention turbo spikes when running a decat system?? is there something different about a Tdi that causes problems with this? Also much talk about clutch slip, is this still only a problem with the generic maps? or is it a problem once you go over a certain Hp? I have had import cars for the last 8 years so not sure on warrantee issues; I presume the warrantee is transferable? As I am looking for a 2006/2007 car? Also I have never owned a VAG car before so was unsure about wheels, do all VW, Audi etc wheels have the same fitments? Or is there things I need to look out for when looking for wheels for a Fabia? Oh and by the way I really like this forum especially the technical guides forum its great that people are adding the help guides with photos and info, really good.
