  1. That in itself would probably rule out a future warranty claim then as it must be over 100 now 😁. If I get a diag done by an indy and they clear the fault, and then I wait until it reappears and roll up to say at Skoda garage saying " i've just had this fault warning come up" will it look like a new fault or would they know it was existing before the warranty was taken??
  2. Thanks for reply. Sorry for late read/reply. Just to be clear, as the faults are logged with date/time, if a fault is intermittent and keeps clearing (as in no fault lit on dash) /returning do all activations date /time log or just the latest fault occurrence?
  3. Hi, I have the above fault coming up and then clearing once ignition is restarted. It also seems to come up in roughly the same location on my daily commute strangely enough. I have an OBD reader but not sure if it only does engine codes rather than safety features. I have looked into getting it re-calibrated but not sure if it is this as someone said that if it was a re-cal required the fault would stay in? I have just taken out the Skoda 'All in One' package which includes the 2 year warranty. I have a 30 day waiting period on this. I have booked in for 28/01 for MOT and oil change service and wondered the following: Will they routinely do a code read for the above? If fault not showing at the time will it be logged? If logged would it be date stamped for instances of fault activation? I am hoping I can wait the 30 days plus and then take it in to get the fault sorted. Cheers
  4. For anyone who has had this issue a while, does the lumpy starting go away as the ambient temp rises or stay all year round when engine cold?
  5. DMF/fuel injectors (some diesel models)/abs sensors/intake manifold flaps/cold starting issues on some diesels (possible link to injector change). Check engine cover is secure as clips break. Sticky egr valves, dpf's can cause problems.
  6. Ok, i've read this thread through a while ago as I am having the same problems with cold starting on my pd 170. I have had it to dealer (left overnight in very cold weather) and they reported "it started fine" which is utter rubbish. Nothing showing on diagnostics so they are clueless. Took it to a local VAG indie and within 30 seconds he noticed that my intake manifold flaps were broken (it also has had fumes smell in cab). Now the reason he found this was that he saw the deposits of soot around the engine bay. This is the same soot deposits (I noticed this ages ago after having cambelt changed at dealer and showed them it thinking it was rubber from chafing belt) that have been there for 18 months and the dealer has never mentioned them despite them not being able to locate the fumes smell. Anyway, I digress. The cold start issue. I got indie to change glow plugs (75k so worth a shot) but no different at all. Next they changed fuel filter. This made it better but not cured. If I leave car for 2 days on drive then it takes a good 15 seconds of turning over with no hint of starting, then another glow plug cycle and a further 10 seconds before it, still reluctantley, starts. I am wondering if the injector seals are failing. It had them done around 18 months ago and has been ok till last few months. What would the symptoms of injector seals failing?? After the fuel filter was changed it did improve 50% so maybe on the right lines. This must be a fairly common problem so I am not sure why the dealers are so useless at diagnosing the problem.
  7. You could maybe buy a vRs that's had all the work already done like DMF, injectors, abs sensor etc. May sell my estate if your interested? 74k FSH and everything done. Its actually in tomorrow for new inlet manifold and am replacing glow plugs while its in. I've had the car nearly 5 years. It is silver and vgc. Still has a few months Skoda extended warranty as well. Have been looking at prices and they soon go up beyond 7k. Would be looking at around that figure.
  8. My 2007 TDI 170has a few problems I need advice with. I took it to dealer for mot and to investigate fumes in car and cold starting issues. They rang to say its failed mot on emmisions. They then wanted to do some diagnostics but I got car back and put some Wynn additive in for cleaning fuel system and mot emmisions and gave it a good run for around 15 miles. I plan to do same in morning before returning it for diagnostics as it may pass test then. Still have the fumes problem which is even detectable when moving now. They had the car overnight to get cold start but said although lumpy no fault codes so don't know! Any ideas on fumes and whether the emmisions failure will be anything more complicated? Cheers
  9. Service book says 2 years for brake fluid.
  10. Yeah, just been informed of this by the indie specialist quoting £79. Ive rang two other VAG indie's and they want £174 and £164 (more than Skoda and Audi charge!!). I think I know where to go.
  11. Cannot remember major service price (on variable regime, 07 vRS PD) as had it done alongside cambelt change but it was around £220-250 iirc. Just had quote for minor service 2 yrs later and main dealer want £150 for basically an oil/filter change and the usual checks. Local VAG specialist want £79 for same and the young lad who answered said he's sure that is for the variable service regime service (long life oil) but is to check and ring me back as also wanted brake discs/pads all round price as well. Quite a difference! The main dealers have been good to me over last 4 years and I believe in a bit of loyalty when you get good service but at nearly twice the price that loyalty may be over!!
  12. Yeah, very similar. I will check to see if it smokes like that but am sure it will because of unburnt fuel. What is the problem then? Faulty 'new' injectors? Bad workmanship when fitting the new ones?
  13. I have them currently and they are wearing better than my previous tyres. Around 9k and plenty left. Vreidestien (sp) ultrac sessanta's on front got around 9k Goodyear assymetric got 3k (yes - 3k!!) Kumho were going ok until they split right across tyre width on both front tyres!! Never again...
  14. Have just read this thread. I had the new injectors fitted on my vRS PD last year on a pre emptive basis by Skoda, at no cost. I was one of the first to get it done and involved Skoda UK etc. I have not had any problems until just lately sometimes when starting the car from cold it seems as though it is running on 2-3 pots for around 10-20 seconds. Is this related to the problems people are having since getting the new injectors fitted or totally unrelated?? Its due a minor service this week and was going to mention it so it would be good to be armed with some knowledge first. Also, are the problems due to faulty parts or fitting?
  15. For what exactly? Found out today that my Skoda extended warranty (RAC) should cover the repair of mine but may be tempted to an upgrade if it doesn't break the bank and I get something nice
