  1. Thanks for the quick reply Allytech. The car had a full main dealer service about a month ago, would this not have been checked then?
  2. Hi Guys I have a mk1 Octavia vRS that since yesterday has decided to become a mini disco, the oil light keeps sporadically flashing red with a short beep. And the engine management light is constantly on amber. The car does have a shady history with regards to the oil sump, a big hole was put in the sump, but the car wasn't moved until a new one was fitted and oil re-filled. The oil light comes on occasionally anyway, but nothing seems to stop it, i have had the sensors changed and it has been put on a diagnostic machine and nothing ever shows up. The Oil light however has got ALOT worse since yesterday, before it would come on at most 1-2 times a month, it came on 3 times before i reached the end of the road yesterday. Each time it stopped flashing before beeping and flashing again. Have any of you guys got any idea as to what the problem may be? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :S
  3. Hi Mate, I have Sportrac 3's on my car, had the back 2 on for about 6 months and the front 2 this week, I have to say they are very good indeed. Can really notice a big difference in the handling in the rain (as this is all it has done this week). I would definately recomend them and even have them again. Also i dont know where you have found them or for how much but the cheapest i could find was on MyTyres for £83 per tyre. Rikki
  4. Hi Guys I have a MK I vRS which has just been through its MOT. All was fine, but i did get an advisory to have the rear brake pads and discs replaced soon. What i was wondering is, is it worht uprating either or both and if so what is a good not to expensive way to go in your opinion?
  5. Thanks for the reply and advice Bodge. The oil level is fine to my limited knowledge, done the usual take the dipstick out wipe it then test the level, it was between the notches on the dipstick.
  6. Sorry forgot to say the problem is on an Octavia vRS mk1
  7. Hi Guys I am sure this has been covered before but i feel my car is a special case or REDOILWARNINGLIGHT-itus. The background of the car is that the previous owner got a metal bar stuck in the oil sump which obviously emptied it of oil, the car was not moved (except on the back of a truck) from when this happened to when skoda fitted a new one. The insurance company wrote the car off and i got myself a rather good deal. Now for the down side, for approx the last 2000 miles the red oil warning light keeps coming on intermitantly when the car has been on a bit of a journey. The most it has come on is 3 times and that was in 3 and a half hous of driving from Bournemouth to North Devon. I have had the oil pressure switch changed and the garage also advised before having this done the pressure was fine. I have booked it into the garage again next Wednesday to be checked out as the problem obviously needs sorting as it is kind of a worry, plus when i got in it the other day and started it from cold the engine made the car bunny hop down the road as it seemed it didnt want to kick in properly with any power. This only happened while the car got going and once it had been going it was fine. Any advice before i go to the garage next week would be a massive help. Thanks Rikki
  8. I have a Y reg RS and it has 48k on the clock. Bought it about a month ago with 47k on it.
  9. Hi Guys Thanks for the info. With regards to the Software, what is the succes rate of doing it this way (roughly) and do either of you know anybody who is likely to have it in this area as i wouldnt want to buy it for my self as i would be unlikely to use it again. Is the process once the SKC number has been acquired quiet a simple one?? And thanks for the welcome Taxi219. Where abouts in Bournemouth you from?? Im in Christchurch. I drive what i believe to be the only Red Octavia RS in the area.
  10. ah i see. I have read on other posts that vag-com is able to re pogram the keys. Is it able to see the code also? If so do you know if there is anyone other than the dealers in the area that could do this for me?
  11. Unfortunately not, apparently they stopped providing this with the cararound 2001 so would have to get it if it is essential from Skoda
