  1. Have checked back a bit but without luck, New rear tyres fitted today and discovered a cross threaded wheel nut. In the meantime running on 4 nuts.Appreciate any measures I could take that will resolve the issue. Fitter said that was not to much of an issue until the next MOT so long as regular check on the security of the other 4. Might try a good good clean out and order a new wheel nut and see what happens ? Any ideas? Please.
  2. Job completed yesterday took well over an hour and took a lot of effort to get the bolts back in. Was concerned about cross threading but in the end had to use brute force. Once again Thanks
  3. Thanks for that - ordered the Skoda part at £26 which is OK .
  4. Have checked a number if threads without luck. This week the unit that one puts the seatbelt clip into has jammed but either way has stopped functioning. At present able to secure it to the pax unit . Have tried the WD40 and a general fiddle but no change. Any tips and if i have to replace it is it a Fabia 55 year part or are there a Halfords one size fits all ? Thanks for the help.
  5. I have read much of the contributions on the above topic. Why is the info and bumf out in the EU (CK anyway) and not acessible to us? I guess I would consider a new Fab as mine is 3 years in Sept a 1.4TD. I am interested to see what the mpg returns are in particular. Whlist I got 50+ most of the time since I put my daughter on the insurance it is now only 45+. I would be looking for better returns on the new Fab as I would have to say the current model returns figures in my view that are some way over stated. Many times there have been discussions on mpg and my conclusion was that overall the engines failed to achieve their targets unless driven in very favourable conditions. Some of the prices quoted for the new models at the present seem on the high side to me added to which there seems to be a lot of talk about add ons. Despite all of this VAG have still not come up with the Asian 7 years warantee which must now be vital as the Hyundai etc are very fine cars and a challenge to anything produced and marketed in the EU.
  6. All right! All right! calm down, it is a lovely Monday morning and the sun is out! Agree get some quotes and ask around and make choices on experience and costings!
  7. My very point ? A concern shared by most of us as some dealerships have a poor reputation anyhway?
  8. Is it not more about how much you are prepared to pay. My 57 has had 2 services the first being st a Skoda dealersjip - a glass and steel one too. It cost £200 and due to loitering close by unintentailly the complete exercise took 20 minutes. I complained but was never called back! No suprise there then! A couple of weeks ago took it to a local sports car sales / general sevice garage. Was quoted about £120 plus vat. I did not wait around to see how long it took but when collecting it much later the bill was £98 inc. All the boxes are ticked and feel sure that Skoda would have charged another £200. I think you take your chance and test the different places? I do not think that high price makes for any better service? I guess others will agree.
  9. [i stopped locking the fuel cap a year or so ago.
  10. Looks Ok the main interest is to the engine performances? I am not sure that they have made enough changes as perhaps it is to subtle? The price is also key to sales as since the car was introduced as the Fabia 2 our friends in the far east have come a very long way. Skoda need to be offering a longer Car Cover maybe 5 years and inclusive free service for a couple of years at least?
  11. We will let you off? Do not go on again like this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. I agree I do not reckon they give a positive effect?
  13. I am sure it will improve as I recall mine was only 50 + at first. I was not impressed as I had an A!60 CDI auto before and that had always been good for 50mpg, the A class was a heavier car as well as 'auto'. Give it time and treat as awomen on the first few dates and then you get what you want! Not that I can remember?
  14. Mine has now 13000 on the clock but since day one iy was always good fot 50 mpg, which it has achieved ever since even when friven hard. I am sure it will get better!
  15. A seals missing - I guess amny people have given up on those things. Clips are very delicates and not built to last! Not seen issues with 3 or 4 before? Like you mine is a 57 with A seals missing and clips broken - but nothing else untoward!
  16. As someone said if it is going and only on a part ex take to a fixed price garage and when it comes to sale it will make no difference! When I part exchanged a Merc the dealer never checked the mileage or the papaerwork and I had just spent £800 to get the service record up to date, a lesson learn't!
  17. It is not an issue if your wife gets bored with the car more importantly do not let her get bored withYOU!
  18. Seeing that you are a young chap can we not see at least a picture of your partner? I would be a little concerned that one so yoing is getting turned on by mpg issues? You may need to seek help? Or buy a diesel!
  19. You will pay more but have a look on the net there are several companies that provide some thick sound proofing. The standard kit is about as thick as the cheapest underlay and as one guy said does nothing.
  20. No runflats unless speced. We have had them before and they did not last more than 10,000 which for tyres costing £150 each is not good enough?
