  1. We had water coming in on our (currently v.sick - clutch & gearbox) 1999 1.6i. Maybe this thread and my low-tech tip may help.
  2. Our 1999 1.6i 75 bhp Lxi has the same symptoms as James in Norway's. Previous to the symptoms starting the brake light sensor broke and whilst checking to find the fault I did take out some fuses to check them. Next time the car was driven the symptoms started. Maybe I triggered a failure. Interested to know if James tried anything after removing the wires to the throttle body or if any other members have any ideas.
  3. We had water coming in to our 1999 1.6i. Screen misted up and we could hear water sloshing around during cornering. Never found where it came from but found a lo-tech solution. Seems there was a drain area that runs from the windscreen bonnet area Follow the water flow from screen to under bonnet - and exits through the wheel arch. It regulalry gets bunged up with leaf mulch, and backfilled somewhere near the glove compartment. I probed the area with a garden cane, about 3mm, and rodded through. Water poured out! Now just rod through every 2-4 months (more in Autumn as wife parks under trees!). Hope this is helpful.
