  1. Bezzer88, Many thanks for that - just what I was looking for. All I need now is some dry weather (once the mirror arrives) and hopefully I can get the job done.
  2. Hello, I need to change a door mirror (manual control, not heated) on my Fabia 2, and have the part on order, but just after any links/help that is avaialble for this. I am assuming that the door card will need to be completely removed here, so looking for any help with this or the changing of the mirror. I have removed the door cards on my Fabia 1 (yes, the back doors, with a tube of bathroom sealant at hand to stop all the leaks!) so do know it can be the odd trim clip that you did not expect that can trip you up here.
  3. Yeh, sad I know, but with fuel around £6 a gallon my car rarely get to see the top side of 3000rpm unless I am on the motorway (and then only after accelerating slowly up to that). What I am keen to find out is if there is any detailed information existsing for my car (04 plate 1.2 hatchback) that gives an idea of the optimum speed for economy (assuming a flat road and no head or tail wind), or would give an indication of the best gear to be in at given speeds. Not have an economy gauge on the dashboard I am left until I next fill up to find out how much fuel I have been using.
  4. I have 2 Fabias (51 and 04 plates) and both are now suffering from sticking handbrakes after being parked for more than a day (and have done in the past starting anywhere up to 6-9 months after the annual service). Pulling away forwards causes a 'quiet clunk', but trying it in reverse is either very loud, or in some cases not possible. As I park one in the garage I have to remember not to park it too close to the wall just in case I need to go forward to free it. Is this just pads sticking to the drums, or is it the cabling that is preventing them from moving back. I am asking becuase if there is a know trouble spot that can be easily oiled/greased without major surgery then I would like to be able to do so. One of my cars is already sold, but I am hoping to get many more years from the other.
  5. I was driving along the other day and heard a scapping sound from under the car. When I was finally able to stop (why do these things always happen on main roads with nowhere to stop?) I found the plastic tray under the car was hanging loose and scrapping along the road. After removing the tray so I could continue my journey I found that it was the clips holding it in place that had rusted through allowing it to come loose. The clips are round, about an inch across, and like a washer with parts cut away to create grips in the center and allow enough spring for them to grip onto ridged pins sticking down from the bottom of the car. Refiting the panle should be simply a matter of replacing the clips, however I have had no luck finding these. Does anyone know where I may be able to obtain them locally/on the web, or are they really a Skoda only item for which I would need to go to a dealer?
  6. Has anyone come across this problem before? This is occuring on a Fabia 1.4, 51 plate On tick over the headlights are flickering and a sound coming from under the bonnet, clearly audible in the car, the nearest description I can give of this is a chirping sound. Listening under the bonnet it is difficult to identoify where the sound is coming from, but it sounds to be near the battery. All connections etc look to be OK, and have never had any trouble starting the car even when parked for over a week. Thanks for any help anyone can provide. Neil.
