i had a vibration from mine when going from second to third also after long trips i noticed that there was rather a lot of engine movement at idle with the bonnet up, i took it to a dealer and they said that it was the dual mass flywheel. the flywheel was replaced under warenty and the vibration / humming noise dissaperaed. however the large ammount of movement hasent. i think that the cause of the excess movement is being caused by worn engine mount bushes this is prematurely caused by the imballence of the engine due to the flywheel failure. if you are fortunate enought to still be covered by warrenty then get it replaced and that should solve the problem. if not then take it to a dealer and get them to have a look at it if they say that it needs replacing then i would advise replacing the standard dual mass flywheel with a solid flywheel, this would not be much more than the standard unit and would also remove the fault from possibly reocouring. As to the low gearbox oil level i am not sure that this would cause the noise.

is it worth up rating the standard brakes for bigger ones i have heard that the standard ones with a decent set of brake pads can make all the difference?

HI, had my fabia for over a year now and am starting to modify it this has started with a set of wheels and i have just ordered a Whiteline rear anti roll bar, am also going to carry out the short shift mod (cut an inch off the gear stick shaft). but what i want to know is what are the best mods that can be carried out on a fabia without costing the earth and which of those give you the best value for monney.

i have an 06 plate and it has started to make a strange sound when i come off the clutch in third gear whils accelerating relatively hard, it only does this in third so it must be the box, also it rattles quite a lot when i give it full lock could this be the bushes on the anti roll bar as mentioned elsewere if so, does my warrenty cover me for the box and the bushes? any help would be appreciated. tom
