  1. thanks for the info guys, I would say the piston winder is a must !!! 2 hours spent with a pair of long nose pliers scuffing my knuckles before I threw in the towel and went out and bought one. regards, rob
  2. Hi folks, just got myself a new set or rear disc's and pads, anyone done theirs recently ? is it straight forward enough, anything to watch ? regards, rob.

  5. The banjo bolt is missing on one of the calipers of the 312 brake set up I've just bought from ebay (I was aware of this when I bought them) I didn't think this would be an issue but it might be turning in to one ! just been to the Audi dealer and the banjo bolt isn't even listed as a spare on the fiche, Anybody have any idea where I can get one from ? will it be the same as the one already in my standard vrs caliper ? if so I could use one of them when I swap, don't want to take my existing banjo bolt out to check and have to re-bleed my brakes if one of you guys/gals can tell me. Never seen this type of thread in a brake banjo bolt before! its very coarse 10mm dia. regards, rob
  6. Have found this dealers parts department staff to be quite un-helpful and rather dismissive in the past !
  7. Hi All, recently got myself a one-click and must say its brilliant, very recently though the clutch has started to slip a bit which is a bit annoying as the cars only done 22,000 :( I was thinking of getting an Allard uprated clutch plate to go in my standard clutch ! anyone used one of these or any other brand ? Would I have to buy a new pressure plate and bearing to go with it and is the clutch do-able at home ? I have a pit and plenty of tools...any body got a Haynes manual for sale....
  8. Hi all, just spoken to someone on ebay selling one of these for a Fabia VRS, as an incentive they were offering to plug the device in to your car to try out the map !!! I was under the impression that these devices were locked to a specific ECU. The guy states that he'd plugged it in to his sisters VRS and his fathers Golf TDi and they worked ??? Are One-clicks locked to a car or not ??? perplexes, Rob
  9. Just took my ebay purchased MFD to D.M.Keith Skoda in huddersfield so that they could recover the security code (as I don't have one) and they said it can't be done ! Said this unit is car specific and they'd need car registration it came out of and the chassis number !! Are they correct or just being lazy and not wanting to help ?
  10. Hi Stu, thanks for the reply, but in terms of the plug & play wiring, do I have to do any thing with these can hi and can lo wires to get the MFD working ?
  11. Hiya folks, got myself an MFD from fleabay, went to my local skoda dealer to ask about recoding and they say it can't be done  but if I bring the unit to them they can have a look at the serial no. and retrieve the original one !! what do you think ? true or false ? Second point, got myself a plug & play cable from germany and the two wires labelled c-bus H and c-bus L ! what the heck are these for, any ideas ? regards all, rob p.s. the car's an '05 model
  12. Hi Octygone, thanks for starting the thread. I took your lead and contacted Milford Microsystems, they emailed me from their parent company headquarters in canada !!! putting me on to Gary Hamilton (ex AMD I believe ?) at PCM Tuning and he did the re-flash of the one-click for me at £411 . Top service and good comms, highly recommended. Also £90 cheaper than AMD Thanks again mate for the one-click the new software feels great
  13. Looks like a similar product (though not as neat if you don't mind me saying). "whats the best mp3 player for the symphony HU" is surely the same question as whats the best mp3 player = personal preference. I love the iPod for ease of use myself : )
  14. Damn, thought my original post hadn't sent:O:thumbup:
  15. Fitted one of these in to my fabia symphony this afternoon, ten minute job, drilled a hole in the back of the cubby below the HU for the 3.5 jack cable to come through. Works spot-on and the ipod video I have sounds great ! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=110253479966&Category=75307

  18. I'm aware that VW MFD's light up red, I've tried to pm VRSphil regarding his experiences swapping out the red led's for green ! no luck yet though contacting him
  19. Hi folks, does any one know if its possible to re-flash the firmware on a VW MFD so that it shows the Skoda logo on start-up ? I'm thinking of getting one for my fabia vrs but the vw ones seem much more plentiful and cheaper. regards, rob
  20. I bought a couple of stereo keys off ebay for my Fabia symphony single cd player and they were way too wide for the slots ! I just kept filing them down until they fit, ended up 5-6mm wide and went straight in and out poped the HU.

  23. Thanks for the links Dave, bid on and won one of the ones on ebay:thumbup: good saving made, I owe you a beer for that:D regards, rob
  24. Went to my local Seat dealers this aftie intending to buy the PD160 inlet pipe and trumpet for my new (to me) '05 Fabia VRS after reading the fitting thread on here. Great I thought, the start of great things for my new baby (the VRS of course), £45 in my pocket, I strolled up to the parts counter, read the guy the part numbers. Yes he says, we've got these in ! how much I says, £75 he says. I pick jaw up from floor and walk out fuming, imagining myself the victim of a global scam to fleece innocent Skoda owners !! ringing around though once home it appears that the two parts are indeed £75. I'm back there on friday after completely emptying my piggy bank:O inflation, don't ya just hate it...
