  1. Congrats on the fabia! Id love a smaller engined petrol to put something interesting in it! Ill do my best to answer your questions: 1. Get a new one...but the bonnet should stop any major water damage to the battery! If its still running and not suffering any problema with the broken taped one then it should be fine till you get another...probs a couple of quid on ebay! 2. might need someone with a 1.2 to clarify but im not sure if a 1.2 has an undertray! I dont run one and i can just see the floor from the top down. I can imagine with a smaller engine without one you'd see quite a bit of the floor! Nothing to worry about! Doubt the engine sump is very low on those engines either! 3. Keep an eye on that! Like you said it could just be the workshop! Give the car a thorough clean in and out and of you can still smell it then take it back to the garage. 4. not sure on that? Got a pic? 5. Spot on! Well done haha Enjoy fabia ownership! Im.on my second and even though they can frustrate the hell out of you they are fun little cars!
  2. Can you pm me some pics of the seats? Been wanting some for aged and im based in pboro! Too good to be true lol!
  3. Massively impressed with that! ^^ thats ok then! I dont mind when on WOT to have bugger all but would still love to keep a little bit of sensibleness when going to work and the like! Cheers lads!
  4. Right so I know the terms uprated injectors and mpg shouldnt really go in the same sentence but its a general question really! Looking at getting some 80% firads to go with a 2260 to then be mapped but was curious to see what id expect to see mpg wise for those that have uprated already! Not expecting anything special probs around mid 20s to 30s at best maybe? Or when cruising is the drop not to noticeable? At the end of the day its all about the powaaah but would be nice to know Cheers Liam
  5. Stupid phone wont let me paste! Could you add me to the list for a mk1 fabia! Thanks
  6. I would give my right nut for those wheels! Been looking for some for a while that are decent condition!
  7. Newman cams sponsored the mk2 gti championship and were an option cam as opposed to the standard cam! I had some in my 8v and they were very good quality! I think thats a decent price! Unless your running big power though i don't know if you'll notice a massive difference

  9. How much did the set up all come too? Nice to see a genuine review rather than the same "ive never tried them, but ive heard this that and the other" popping up on various threads across t'internet
  10. Hi guys Just looking at getting a new clutch and SMF for my fabia and just wondering what the current thought is with you guys on where to find the best deals? I'm currently in the process of buying a 2260 and will be looking for a nice 260-270ish and would like a clutch and flywheel to be able to take the abuse! Do I even need a paddle? would an organic clutch do the job just as well? I've had a search around numerous places to see what I can get a hold of. When I had my old fabia I had a Helix cerametallic paddle clutch and SMF which rattled a lot...(didnt' bother me) and never slipped at all, and I was able to get it from Demon Tweaks if IIRC for around £800. Just having a look about at the moment for the best deal out there. Jabba's equivalent Sach's and SMF is coming in at £1086 inc VAT Awesome GTI do the Helix Road clutch and SMF for £931.08....so not as hardcore as I had before Darkside do theirs at £750 which includes a Sintered clutch And Peformanceclutch.co.uk again do the Helix organic clutch with SMF for £810.22 Is there anywhere I've missed that maybe able to do a better deal? Any genuine reviews of CG Clutch's? don't want this turning into a flaming war against them!! Any saving would be ace as i'm going to be fitting an LSD at the same time! Thanks Liam
  11. From what i can see, it looks like 13a... The bonnet release cable hooks onto a metal prong, and this clip just slides over the top to prevent it slipping out!
  12. As title says..anyone got a part number for the white retaining clip that holds the bonnet release in place under the bonnet? Mine has broken and after thinking it would be OK without...im now locked out of the engine bay... So need to get the car on stands to get in underneath to pop the bonnet then I can put a new clip on...when ive found out the part number Any help mucho appreciated
  13. Im also well aware of my answer to this thread above lol!!!!
  14. Thought id bring this back up again after something that happened today! Im on my second vrs after i had so much fun in my first one i just thought i needed to get one again! Its been sentimental and a real novelty to have one again but after a month or so...im a bit..meh I dont know whether its because the first time i had one it was the fastest car id ever had..now being older and experiencing better build quality..cars that are much faster...then coming back...the shine has gone? Was at the mini dealership sorting swmbo's private plate and for a laugh the dealer let me take a mini jcw gp out..no back seats..full diffuser..and it blew my socks off! After that i got back in my car and went for a drive and i just felt so underwhelmed...i know its becuase the mini is a fantastic bit of kit but im not sure what i can do with the fabia to get the thrill back? Hmmmmmmmm
  15. Ooooo if hes willing to sell for a decent price ill be sure to take them off him!
  16. ****...forgot that was there! will go try it tonight........ Thoughts on track wheels still appreciated though
  17. Alright guys, Just trying to work out if I can get away with 16" trackday wheels. I've got 312mm brakes which i know if they came from anything VAG, then as long as the offset was correct they'd fit fine, But my 312mm brakes are from an alfa romeo brera so i'm not sure if these are bigger/smaller/wider, so don't fancy ordering some Pro Race 1.2's in 16's and then they either don't fit or I have to pull the arches to run even bigger spacers! Any ideas where I might find the dimensions of the vag setup and the Alfa setup to compare? Also any other ideas of what track wheels to get...i'm almost about to commit to the team dynamics, but didn't know if there was anything other than the 1.2 or pro race 3's to look at?
  18. Grr666- sounds like you'd be at home in a clio 200 for a fun revvy car! I loved my first fabia..i was absolutley gutted when i sold it! Always kept an eye out to see where it was and it was just fate that everytime it popped up for sale i didnt have the funds! I agree with grr in a sense that a fast petrol just doesnt have the same drama unless your at illegal speeds! My astra vxr was tame until you were flat out...but then i was filling up every two minutes! Im just glad that ive got my new fabia and its got everything i could want without having to tinker with it too much!....although rarb is next on the list! To the OP like you said..i think once youve put your own mark on the car and made it yours you'll be much happier!
  19. PM'd about the brakes on weds…agreed price..turned up on friday…really good service! Thanks Chap much appreciated! Now to fit them when i have a spare two minutes! haha
  20. Hey Guys Long time no speak! recognise some of the names still posting away on here! used to be a frequent poster but sold my fabia which i massively regretted. So for the last few years i've been floating about in a mk2 golf, Astra VXR and recently a BMW 123d but nothing made me smile as much as my fabia! so after trading in the beemer for a new mini for SWMBO I was given permission to hunt for another fabia! Not wanting to start from scratch, i decided to look for one that had been fettled with a little bit and started the hunt! Must have been someone looking over me, as i stumbled across a certain build thread thinking...wow...i love this car.. And after checking the classifieds, it had been up for no more than 2 hours!, so a quick PM, a little haggling, and a deposit... I'm now the owner of Jacks Fabia..which is immaculate! http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/231611-claps-fabia-vrs/ Link for anyone who doesn't know which one i'm talking about. I also managed to buy the brand new hybrid turbo too with the car so that will be going on soon. Very happy with the purchase and not much i'd do really to it apart from keeping up the high effort in maintaining and improving it! Plans for the future: Rear Anti Roll Bar Fit Hybrid and get it mapped Fit Helix SMF and Paddle Clutch Buy some Track Wheels and Tyres I may in the future change the interior and take it to seat surgeons for the treatment! for the time being though, i'm just going to enjoy being back in a fabia and clean it every moment i get haha Unfortunately i'm working away at the moment, so other than the nice drive back from southampton, i've had to leave it on the drive under cover :( Glad to be back though guys! i'll keep a look out for the shows to attend! thanks Liam
  21. Mmmmm this looks nice!! So old boy! In your intoxicated state the other night when are you giving me the keys?? ;-) ;-) ;-) haha
  22. Go for coilies! You can then set them up how you like!! Although remember you get what you pay for so if you get ebay specials expect a harsh ride!
