  1. Not posted on here in a while, but thought i would post today. Had bad fuel economy for a while and then some fairly rough idling and i noticed poor acceleration too. Changed the MAF sensor, Plugs, and Lambda sensor and now runs like a charm. Only problem i have now noticed is dodgy brown foam in the oil filler cap, and the oil level dropping, and water level dropping too. Have decided to do a full engine overhall with all gaskets, clips, belts, filters, piston rings and fluids being changed. Give it a new lease of life i think!! I have also put new wheels on it since i last posted too(i think), 18" Zito Alloys with 225/40x18 Tyres.
  2. thanks for the reply, all other bits work fine,,,, i will strip door down and see what i find then,,,, i have the trusty haynes manual for it
  3. Hi, i have not posted on here in a while due to a major house refurbishment,, but i need some help with my octy please. I went to Jabbasport in crowland to get the antihijack turned on, and everything was working fine, until a couple of days ago when the car would get to 10mph and the doors would lock,, but then the passenger front door would unlock straight away. I have tried wd40 in the lock etc,, no difference (apart from the key turning easier that is ) I have even tried holding the lock down from the inside while driving but every time i slow down to less than 10mph and speed up again, it unlocks again. It wouldnt be so bad if the soleniod wasnt so loud, but i could do with sorting it out,,,, so if anyone has any advice ,, please help!! Cheers, Rick.
  4. nice cars, but you have blanked out the number plate on one picture, and left the rear one on another picture??
  5. what camera is it going on?? and i think that that lens is great,,,, it got the gold award in the digital photo mag recently.
  6. not quite skoda wheels, but a quicky to give you the idea, oh yeah, and i tinted your windows, and removed the door handles too.
  7. how annoying,,,, just looking/drooling at pictures again, and noticed that whoever it was that made these pictures, has 1 - used the same base car picture for pictures 1 and 3,,,, and 2 - they have messed up cutting round the OSF tyre, as there is a slight wobble round the edge of the tread,, in both pictures obviously. still nice though !!
  8. In effect, as was said a few posts back,, suck-squeeze-bang-blow ,,engine basics ,,if the blow part of the sequence (Exhaust) is increased without a modification to the suck (Air Intake) part then there will be an imbalance of incoming and outgoing air in the engine, causing potential fueling issues. Go for the bigger exhaust but go for an induction kit and remap also,,, then you wil get an increase that is noticable!! :D
  9. That might have to be next on the list i think,,, the back end looks a bit bare,,, but then i wonder if i might go for the euro look and smooth it all out instead,,,,,,, no door handles, boot handles/recceses etc,, what do you all think?
  10. Thanks,, i know the air filter and plugs thing might be a touch over the top, , but then i figure there is no harm in treating it to new goodies every now and again, . I have since had the car plugged in to the VAG thing, and found,,,,,,, one or two problems,,,, erm,, where do i start:D 1 - MAF sensor faulty 2 - Lamda sensor Faulty 3 - Engine temperature sensor faulty 4 - Cylinder 3 misfire 5 - Random misfire oh yes, and several breather hoses frayed and split (hanging off in places too ) Put new MAF sensor on and new temp sensor, and replaced all hoses, new plugs,,,, again,,,,, and new leads, already getting 40 miles more from tank,, and pick up and overall response FAR better now, getting plugged in again tomorow to see if lamba fault has gone due to correct fuelling now, if not then new one of those tommorow too,, :( LOADS OF MONEY!!!! :(
  11. i have just changed mine,, you need a socket set with a 'knuckle' atachment, and then you need some long fingers Fidly but possible
  12. Hi,, i have got a 1993 Vauxhall Carlton, with a 3.9 Rover V8 and 3 speed Auto box, offenhauser manifold, Edelbrok 4 barrel carbs, and one off tubular manifolds, the car has been stripped out and now only has 2 bucket seats, and digital dash clocks, housed in an aluminium dashboard, i have kept the glass windows for now though.
