  1. Good follow up by Tim; supplements are, by definition, supplements. They add to your diet, they're not supposed to become it. Don't worry about going home for lunch; take it with you. Tin of tuna between four slices of bread, place in air tight container or cling film, job done. Obviously remove tuna from tin first! (someone would've passed comment on that, I know they would!) You know those little jars that "Chicken Tonight" comes in? I always have two of those in my car with a scoop of protein in each. They're just the right size. All you need then is your shaker and a bottle of water. It's not that difficult with a little planning and dedication (My mates think I'm obsessed, my wife thinks I'm possessed but I think they're lazy. You choose. It just depends on how serious you are and the effort you're prepared to put in to reach your goals). John West also do tuna light lunches which don't need to be kept in the fridge. They have a decent portion of protein and some pasta with a variety of flavours (about 5, I think). A plastic fork comes with and you get change out of 2 quid. Healthy, packed with protein, convenient and cheap. Those pro flap jack bars I wrote about earlier work out at around 60p each and they won't melt in your glove box so there's another cheap and convenient option. Over to you now mate
  2. I found them ok. I only used them cos they were closest to my office. It looks a bit "backstreet garage" but they did the business. I got stuck in traffic taking my car over there and they waited til 1845 for me, fair play. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again but that's only based on this one dealing with them
  3. Mate, Only thing legal that packs on muscle is train hard, rest trained muscle group at least 48 hours before training again, and eat proper. You need 1 gram of protein per 1 pound of bodyweight per day. Shoot for 8 hours sleep a night. Keep your muscles guessing; change your workout every month or so. Try varying between 3 to 5 sets of heavy weight, low reps and long rest periods and 3 sets of low-ish weight, high reps and short reps then the standard 3 sets of 10 to 12 reps getting heavier every set. Try eating 6 meals a day. Eat low fat cottage cheese before going to bed as it's full of casein protein which is slow release and it'll nourish your body while you sleep without stacking on fat. Leave off the carbs after 6pm and drink plenty of water. Maximuscle gear is good but expensive and a little too much sugar. Try Optimum Nutrition protein; I've been using it for years and it tastes fantastic even mixed with water. Best bars to eat (in my humble opinion) is CNP's Pro-Flapjack bars. Affordable Supplements (01977 554 455 or www.affordablesupplements.co.uk) got them on offer this month at £14.99 for a box of 24 which is an absolute bargain. AS are very competitive for all their stuff but it pays to shop around cos different people have different offers on all the time. Meal replacements are a waste of money; use normal protein with some oatmeal flour chucked in. All oatmeal flour is is oatmeal whizzed into a powder in your blender. No intention of teaching granny to suck eggs here but I'm a "hard gainer", 41 years old and it all works for me. If you're a fair bit younger the results should be quicker and a lot more noticeable. I hope this helps. Good luck Paul
  4. Hi All, Turned out to be a ****y ECU which has since been replaced. Now all systems go and running like a dream. Getting an extra 2 MPG too for some reason. Weird. Thanks again to Elmside Skoda in Beckenham Paul:thumbup:
  5. Will do mate. Actually, they're not my dealer, just the closest one to where I work which makes them all the better for staying open. I bought the car from White Dove in Cardiff before we emigrated to Kent
  6. Hi all, I picked up a new Octavia vRS diesel in may last year. She's white & fully loaded (everything bar sat nav and xenons). Awesome! Anyway, started the car wednesday morning and she stalled straight away. I re-started her, the computer squawked and said "engine trouble. workshop!". The diesel glow plug light was flashing as was the traction control light. I drove, carefully, the one mile to work (I live in Maidstone, drove the 28 miles to my gym in Orpington and my office is a mile from there so I'm not lazy!) and then called Skoda Assist. The tech said there was an error on the ECU saying "Check Sum Error" and that the ECU would most likely need changing and that would be the end of it. I took the car to Elmside Skoda in Beckenham for them to sort. Anyway, they phoned yesterday and asked if I'd had the car from new and if she'd been modified in anyway. They then specifically asked if I'd had a re-map. After I told them she's completely standard (and she is), they said they be needing her for a while cos they have no idea what's wrong with her. Apparently the ECU is fine so now hey're in a dialogue with Skoda to try find out the problem. Beckenham Skoda said they've never seen anything like it in that the car runs terrible and keeps cutting out. Has anyone heard of anything like this or does anyone have any clue what this might be? Any advice greatly appreciated PS Big respect to Beckenham Skoda; I got stuck in traffic on the way there to drop my car off and they stayed open til 1845 to wait for me and hand over courtesy car. Top people.
  7. I picked up my Octy vRS on Wednesday, brand new. She has everything except sat nav & xenons. It's awesome AND it turns heads but maybe that's cos she's candy white? Either that or I'm mistaken for old bill. Mine has 18" alloys and seems quite settled on them, given I've only covered about 6o miles so far. Maybe that's because she's running on Continentals? My wife runs a Fabia vRS, a 170 bhp animal. I occasionally drive it; it's blisteringly fast, unbelievably economical (76 mpg from South Wales to Heathrow at 70 mph) and handles quite well but not as planted or solid as my Octy.
  8. Nooooooooooooo! It can't be standard! Now everyone will go and buy one!
  9. I thought that too. I sit quite far back being 6' 1" tall and I find I always have to llok to see what's coming from the left twice before I pull out of a junction, just in case I miss something cos of those pieces.:thumbdwn: Not a bad car otherwise but maybe not for me full time for another 20 years or so:rofl:
  10. Good point, my wife has a yellow Fabia vRS but 2 yellow vRS's on one drive? Really?
  11. Um, I knew that. No, really........... Seriously though mate, part of my point is that why would you choose silver over white when the white was, and still is, that rare and that stunning?
  12. Absolutely stunning mate. What spec you got on yours? I get mine this week with everything except xenons. Even got a sunroof:thumbup:
  13. Iordered a white Occy vRS three weeks ago and all I need now is my transfer of reg cert from the DVLA so it can be taxed and I can collect it. It looks absolutely awesome. Cancelled old bill order? Not a chance, not with the spec on there: sunroof, cruise, maxi dot, rear sensors, 18" zenith's, jumbo box, dual zone climate, heated front seats, electric rear windows, light assist, auto wipers * auto dimming interior mirror - in other words, everything except xenons. Every other car on UK roads is silver; check out my pics on my thread on the newby section entitled "new member with white vRS on the way" and tell me why you would take a silver one over this object of beauty! :pants:
  14. I've just ordered my white Octavia vRS from Neil Robinson. My wife had a black Fabia vRS but the miles were racking up so she wanted a new one in January. Obviously there's no new Fabia vRS's out there but Neil managed to source a 9 month old yellow one with full leather and only 1,000 miles on the clock. Neil's a top man and I would highly recommend buying a car from him. My wife has had no probs getting either of her Fabia's serviced either. The windscreen wiper motor fuse went on the black one, RAC couldn't fix it at the roadside. A chap called Tim at White Dove pulled all the stops out to get it sorted on a Saturday morning. We really can't fault White Dove
