  1. @daverapid : Non power assisted steering @KenONeill : I'll say, when I try to turn the pulley, the shaft turns at the same time. Is the pulley screwed to the shaft..? If so, I would say the pulley gets tighten to the shaft the other way... :? The most annoying thing is the amount of things to do to get the pump off... The pump holds the engine from the top. In the same time, it'll be a good timing to replace the mounting and brackets! I'd like to do it myself, but with this weather... :/
  2. So, I checked the work to be done to get the water pump off the engine. It sounds like I'll need to lift the engine up and hold it in place while I'll change the pump. Did anyone replace the pump before..? Is it a though job to do..?
  3. Hi Briskodians, New thread, new problem... SSDD Last monday, my auxiliary belt just snapped... But not in the way you first imagine... The belt just seprated itself in half, making 2 belts. The first sign was the battery light switching ON, then then, the engine temp just rising till the roof! I stopped the engine, and had a look at it. The water pump is now misaligned with the engine wheel and the alternator. When I changed it last year, everything was aligned. What could lead the waterpump wheel to go on the "outside"..? I'm gonna flush the system and take it off the block to check... I'll keep you posted...
  4. I had the same problem when I bought the Felly last year, and it was one of the spring that holds the brush in contact with the rotor which had broken from being rusty. Replaced it with one from a "clicking pen", and it saved me 60€! Give it a look first!
  5. When I replaced mine, the problem was directly solved... Erf, kinda... I took it for a test drive, but still, I found the car being hesitant to rev over 3000RPM, starting to choke after this rev point. I put some Redex plus a full tank of Petrol, and it runs fine now. What I wanna say here is the pump might not handle well clogs or reduced passage in the fuel pipes/lines, and what inside the iron casing might just break due to the too high pressure it has to output. Just a thought, I'm not an expert in hydraulics though.
  6. I did replaced my fuel pump few months ago, in my Felly. The fuel pump itself is located inside a first cylinder, which is itself in another plastic cylinder. Just to say that you will end up with a small iron cylinder, and won't be able to know what's wrong in it, and pray that it was your problem. I had the same behaviour you described. The engine would start correctly, then choke a bit, a bit more till stalling dead... And you could restart it, and it did the same again. Since I replaced it, no more problem.
  7. I don't know if it's the same system as in the Felicia, but try this : - Open the door and get in the car. - Lock all the doors manually - Open a window and use your key to manipulate the central locking. It should work, if not try the other way around : unlock all the doors and try to lock with the keys. Hope this helps!
  8. I did it!!! The Felly is back! Yeeeaaaaahhh!!!:D:D:rice: :smrbow::orb_party It was the fuel pump! Or at least the last bit I did not change before that! So now, I need to monitor some more. Thank you all!
  9. Got the pump off the tank... Was pretty hard to get it, but I finally did it! I tried to "start" the engine with the pump off the tank, just to try troubleshooting it, or just listening to it if it was running wrong, or else. And noticed some gas left in the pump was gettin' out from the holes on top of it, not pipes, but from 2 tiny holes. Can I say the pump is dead, and should pay for a new one..? Are there some tests I could run before..?
  10. I figured that out when reading the wiring diagram... But was not quite sure about it. Thanks Tom!
  11. When I remove the pump relay, I just can't start the car at all... But I gonna try to take the pump cover off and see.
  12. Hi, I'd like to know if there is an appropriate place in the fuel line to depressurize the system..? My goal here is to remove the fuel pump for inspection. Sludge in the tank/pump, or if it needs a replacement. I had a look and start around the too small access on top on the pump, but I'm pretty sure I'll spill a lot over there... And it will smell gas in the car. So, any idea..? Anyone already messed with the fuel pump..?
  13. I got it by spraying some WD40 and let it overnight, but someone else told me about a better penetrating liquid. Cant remember the name, got it in AllFrauds, it is call something like "Shock bolts"...
  14. So, I took the catalyser off, tried to start, and couldn't... I then disconnected the lamba probe, and was able to start, but still same issue... It ends in choking and stopping. I was able to see through the cat, so I guess it is OK! Before sending the car to a Skoda garage to be plugged on their console, can I try something else..? It sounds like fuel starvation... This is why I was talking about the fuel pressure regulator. Can the fuel pump be my problem..? (The fuel filter already got replaced) Is it embedded in the tank..? Can a fuel filter plugged in the wrong way leads to fuel starvation..?
  15. Still in trouble with the Felly, had to buy another car to go to work, but still working on it... I replaced coil pack, lambda probe, temp sender, checked valve clearances, cleaned MAP sensor, and some other thing...But still... It is definitely "better", with new parts in it. It starts OK now every times, but still ends in a choky state after 15 secs, but I can make it revs again, etc... Until drop dead... I noticed that if I put the engine around 3000RPM, and release the gas pedal, then it does not try to stay idle, but just decrease speed up to 0, and stops. So I took off the black air inlet box, to have a look to the air inlet butterfly valve while running. I was activating with my hand directly the valve, and was able to hear like "backdrafts" from the engine, like exhaust gas getting out from the inlet! Is this normal doc..? I'm gonna take the catalytic converter of the exhaust line and check if the line would not be clogged up... Any idea what I should take a look at..? Fuel pressure regulator..?
