  1. Thanks for the replies. It just does it for the one fob. Which one of us needs to re teach the fob to cars or do we both ave to?
  2. Does anyone know what I can do to stop this, or what my neighbour can do to his van? We haven't had any issues before but starting yesterday whenever I unlock my 2008 Octavia vRS my neighbors 2005 VW caravelle alarm goes off, if I lock my car the vans indicators flash but it des not stop the alarm going off. At first I found this quite funny but now it's eating annoying!
  3. Car has been running absolutly fine and then last monday the coolant warning came on the dashborad. Checked the coolant level and it was below full but above minimum. Restarted car and no warnings to be seen. Then everytime i started the car cold the warning came on, if i restarted once warm the warning went away. I read on here about the senors getting corroded etc so had a go at cleaning these etc. Last thursday was doing a long trip so thought id just check the oil and water before i went, i noticed what looked like dirt in the water but the levels were okay. Well the long trip went without problem, car enver missed a beat but the coolant warning never went off regardless of the engne being warm or cold. On monday when i opened the bonnet to again try and find what the problem was i noticed the water tank was no longer clear but black. It is now complety full of oil, which even my poor mechanical head is a bad thing. Any ideas? Will it be the head gasket thats gone or maybe the oil cooler thats failed? The car runs fine, no white steam/smoke, no issues starting it, no over heating, heaters work as they always have so im not sure its a head gasket failure but not too sure what else can mix the oil into the water and not cause many other problems. I had the car delivered to a garage by the RAC, now just waiting to see what they say is wrong with it.
  4. I have a PD170 engine in mine and my colleague has a CR170 in his. On a 20 mile journey earlier in the year following each other i averaged 42 MPG and he averaged 55mpg! So there is a quite a difference in fuel consumption.
  5. I'm having similar issues, last night I drove from Leeds to Kendal via the motorways, the engine was running badly but I kept 70 up a the way. 20 miles from kendal a d the dpf Livy has come on. Is it the cold temperatures outside that stopped the exhaust getting hot enough I wonder? 70mph in -2C is one he'll of a wind chill. I now have to try and clear the dpf while driving around the lakes on snow! Not gunna be easy!
  6. If so how? Or do i have to ring the number on Adrian Flux website? cheers
  7. Apart from the above i do like my car and i would buy another, but id buy the estate next time!
  8. Most of the issues i have with the vRS have been mentioned already Boot filling with water when opened Snow and rain getting in when the doors are open. No washer fluid warning No Steering Wheel or stalk controls for stereo Squeeking dashboard Engine cover falling off constantly and pulling the dip stick out with it Other things Can cooler that the Fabia vRS has False floor in the glove box to put Handbook in. Fabia had this Roof bar mounts on the hatchback are rubbish and cause the car to leak water. And they destroy the door seals. Gear knob paint flaking off. Im on my 3rd one in 30k miles. The Fabia one lasted me 50k miles without a mark on it Worst Car ever in Snow Car mats are rubbish quality compared to the Fabia vRS mats
  9. I had put these on my Fabia when i had it and found them to be pretty good and lasted along time. And this weekend just gone i put two on the front of my Octavia and four on my girlfriends Fiesta ST. Expensive trip to the garage!

  11. I was there for all three days of the Jim Clark rallies. Ive now been every year since 1996 i think I shall upload some pics of the Skoda's once i sort them all out.
  12. Ive had to dig my vRS out of the carpark 4 times this week. I have to admit that its the most useless car ive ever driven in snow. But i can live with it for the few days we ever get snow.
  13. Im hoping its not as cold as it was last year! Still waiting for my tickets to arive tho :/
  14. 08 Octy vRS Should there be a light on the dashboard when you put the front fogs on? When i pull the headlight control out once the front fogs come on but the symbol on the headlight control doesnt light up nor does a light come on on the dashboard. If i pull it out a 2nd time the rear fogs come on, the symbol on the headlight control lights up and a light come on on the dashboard. Is this how it should be or am i going to need another visit to the dealers? Cheers
