  3. Hi, they're not supposed to work with the remote. They work when you use the key to unlock/lock the door and hold it in that position... i.e hold it in the unlock position to open and hold it in the lock position to close. Regarding them working with the ignition, that's part of the "S-contact" a convenience feature which allows the windows to work for around 10 minutes after the ignition has been turned off provided a door has not been opened (I believe the driver's door). If yours works even with the driver's door open, then your microswitch may be faulty resulting in there being no recognition of the door opening. Hope that helps
  4. It appears his gearbox code is 02k, which suggests his engine code should be AEH or AKL. What gearbox codes can fit these engines?
  5. Currently operating on mates rates, plus some of my own elbow grease. The donor vehicle is a 1998 vw polo. Both vehicles have the same engine (AEH), and the mounting points appear to be the same. Just need some more info as to the swap. From my first research, everything should be plug and play, and then on the electronics side, there may be a few wires to swap and finally a few bits to change on the ecu coding.
  6. Good Day all, My Octavia needs a new transmission, however, I have come into possession of another vag vehicle with the same engine but a manual gearbox. I would like to know what I need to do to convert my automatic car to manual. Many thanks, Peter
  7. Do you have any updates? I have the same problem now since the transmission fluid, some solenoids and the solenoid harness were changed
  8. Welcome to briskoda and welcome from a fellow barbadian. I will pm you the contact info of a person who may have the parts or a replacement engine
  9. Would it be possible to get the parts needed to do a conversion to manual? Manual box, ns engine mount, flywheel and clutch, all clutch assembly and cylinders, driveshafts, gear linkages. Could you pm me the price?
  10. Hi, Can you send a pic of the vrs interior? thanks Peter
  11. I'm in for 2013. After my birthday (jan 20th) I'm looking at losing 3 stone and getting my back re-aligned and then back into sports for me.(Lawn tennis, road tennis, cricket, volleyball)
  12. I have a 1986 Daihatsu Charade 1.0 3 cyl. Only have it as it was gifted from my godfather. Mom has a 2004 Mk1 Octavia ambiente estate 1.6. Interesting thing is that they both use the same amount of fuel. Lovely car, the Octavia. My car has "nothing to go wrong" yet almost everything has needed changing. The engine's now being changed due to piston #3 having holes in it. It is a fairly ok car though
  13. An entire day reading, and I am very impressed. That's a good job you're doing. Keep it up
  14. Will the steering rack fit all mk1 octy's?
