  1. Ah! Probably a silly question but how DO I change the auto fluid? No dipstick either!! Best Regards, JJ
  2. Many thanks for suggestions - am trying them. JJ
  3. Good Morning all. My 2.8petrol (44000) auto has developed a nasty judder on light throttle on a gentle slope. Around 1200 - 2250rpm. Fine if you use more right foot. No engine code comes up and no one can find anything. Compression checked all 179 - 181. New Coil pack, leads and plugs. HELP HELP!!!! Thanks in advance HOPE HOPE!!!! JJ
  4. Oh dear - nothing wrong they said. all perfect. still get a misfire at low revs light throttle. They agreed something was amiss but what am I meant to check now????? Coils are in a row of 3? at front of engine. Shall i try a hammer........ :wonder: :wonder: John
  5. At last - fault shown up. Interrmitent over rich fueling on one bank.......... Booked in next wed for detailed lokksee. John
  6. Thanks for suggestions - just managed to see them! Mileage 43,000 new front discs and pads and newish tyres. Engine management light came on - garage checked and said 'unregistered fault' or something like that and reset it. Still not right. What puzzles me is it is fine if I give it some welly. Is there any way of checking a coil pk? Best regards, John
  7. Good morning all. My '03 2.8 auto has started to occasionally run rough around 1750rpm on pulling gently. I thought at first it was the road surface - juddering sensation - but then realised it was mechanical. Not all the time and seems worse after a period of gentle running. Any ideas please and how can I check things out myself? Thanks in advance.. JJ
  8. Thank you - I'm going to have a go as soon as the new discs arrive.
  9. Morning All, Have new pads to put in but the discs look to me as if smaller pads have been used at some point - its worn 'in the middle' of disc more than is covered by the present ones!! Sorry to ask, but is it very easy or otherwise to put new discs on please? Thanks in advance - I did look on the forum but could'nt find details. All the best JJ
  10. many thanks for the pad changing help - I did not realise you had to undo the allen bolts!!!:O Have recorded all gas etc since conversion and am getting between 16 and 21.7 mpg on gas. Also over the last 9 months have put in just £60 of petrol. (9763 miles). I use the performance but not a hard driver!! unlike my son who thinks the right pedal is a switch, on or off!! We are also genarally 4 or 5 up too. Keep up 60ish on nrmal roads, the limit on motorways (cough cough) Actually prob. more like 80. I dont hang about - always in a rush. One thing that has just cropped up is that if it is a very hot day it changes over to lpg in about 5 secs when starting from cold (normally about 45secs) This needs adjusting as it runs unevenly. I switch gas off for 60secs or so. Dont use the car for many short runs tho, this helps the mpg. Anyone is welcome to see the installation etc. I am in Chippenham. Be good! JJ
  11. Just caught up - my steering has always felt heavy and I run 2 other cars with no power steering!!! Garage checked and said all ok. Sometimes feels as if the pump has 'stalled' when parking - most odd.
  12. Good morning All. I have a 2.8 auto (2003) which I had converted just about a year ago. Bought it low mileage and in very good cond. I pay 48.8ppl inc vat and get around 260miles per 59litres. Very pleased with it. Not able to tell any difference in performance - its set up with the cars parameters so it does not know any change!!!!! No trouble apart from slight water leak where its system is heated, but now cured. Clip needed tightening. Tank in spare wheel well, space saver now in boot. Its easier to take the spare wheel out than a tank!!! So there we are - lovely smooth engine and reasonable economy. Lots of places to re gas, the company I have an account with supplies a book with all their locations. Brill. The only slight downside is the injector noise from outside. Gives the impression the tappets need adjusting. lol. Want to change front pads - how do I do that please?
  13. Good Morning All. Further to my water loss the garage found 2 hose connections not tight enough. Whew, at least it was'nt the head gasket. As they missed this before they kindly did'nt charge me this time!!!! but are rather averse to refunding the £65 they charged for putting an expasion cap on................!!!! Happy Motoring and thanks for all the help. John
  14. It works a treat on my 2.8petrol. After hitting a flood on dark motorway it flashed like mad but kept me straight!! Probably being auto helps? (it was the t/c not abs as kept foot on accelerator) JJ
