  1. just wanted to know,the black trim at the base of the windscreen where the pollen/pollution filter resides on the vehicle in title,is it secured with clips.doe's it pop off,thanks.
  2. I would tend to take the seat belt mechanism off and take it apart to see if it can be fixed,or have a search on Ebay for second hand unit. My hazard switch pack up a few years ago and yeah my indicators stopped working,bought a new replacement on good old Ebay for a tenner,problem solved.
  3. You may be right, it does look oily around the turbo,cheers.

Just had my 02 mk1 Vrs MOT,the examiner said that it was blowing blue smoke under acceleration, and he said it just passed the emissions by the skin of its teeth,the garage manager said its your pistons rings mate,now in the past i myself have noticed the odd puff of smoke when idling, but surly if it was piston rings it would be a constant plume under normal driving conditions and i have not noticed this,there is also a minor oil leak at the back of the engine that might be the turbo oil feed could this be the cause of the blue smoke? Just had my mk1 Octy vrs in for its MOT and the guy called me over to show me that there was an oil leak down the turbo side of the engine,the red arrows in the pic show fresh oil and what is this line the green arrow is pointing to ? where about is the oil feed line to the turbo,i have checked the cam cover for leaks and it seems ok. Just a quick update on this electrical fault,upon inspection i discovered that the wires on the small plug that plugs into the alternator were broken,i had to cut back the sheath on the wiring loom and solder in two wires to the broken wires on the loom and reconnect the new wires to the plug,car runs fine now.

Hi guys, Do any of you guys know where this black cable leads to,because its getting hot when the engine is running i can only keep my finger on it for 5 seconds,car runs like a bag of spanners,ABS,ASR, AIRBAG,coming on, test meter reading 7.5-8.5 volts across bat terminals,turn ignition off car fails to even turn over. Cheers.

  10. Hi,again cheers for reply's guys,i had a gander at the distribution box and all seems fine no signs of melting at all,however the cars seems to be running fine now, Many Thanks.

Hi,cheers for your reply,i put a volt meter on the battery this morning and it was a bit under 12 volts, which is not great considering the battery is only six months old,the alternator seems to be charging ok, the volt meter was reading 14.2 /3 volts at idle,it looks like i might have a possible power drain some where because i also checked with a fault code reader and it threw up the code PO562 system voltage too low and on the airbag 00532 supply voltage b+ sporadic-signal too low. Thanks again.

Hi, The other day I had to take my sister and her cat to the vets, while I was waiting outside I decided to run the engine on my car and after about 10 mins I noticed the rev needle started to fluctuate and it sounded like the engine was going to cut out, then the ASR and ABS,AIRBAG light came on the dash, at that point I turned the engine off . When I tried to re start the car the engine would not even turn over it was like the battery was dead, I have never had any problems like this before. cut a long story short I had to leave the car, after 2-3 hrs I returned, and it started and i drove it home. I started it today and ran it for twenty five mins with no problems.
