  1. Experiencing as coarse noise from the brakes when applying the brake, kind of like the noise you get if you haven't used the car for a few days and the discs have rusted over slighty. Thing is I'm using the car everyday.............is this noise generated by a build up of salt grit??? I've check my brake pads all round today, and there is loads of life left in them, likewise the dics. I have also given calipers a good clean with hose, to clear all the gunk and salt off them. What could it be, its into the dealer on Thursday for warranty repair, its loosing coolant! Should I get them to check me brakes 2!
  2. Thanks for all the advice, yes, its a Stream MP3 headunit which I am quite happy with. Looks like I'll forget the speaker upgrade based on replies here. Its due a service soon, so will get the dealer to sort out the rattle under warranty I reckon, especially if there are pesky clips to break while removing the door card. Funkycat.
  3. OK, decided to keep my Octy II VRS rather than change it for a VAT free MY08 model on current Skoda UK deal, gonna hang on for the facelift VRS later in MY09. So, have small rattle in nearside front door when "pushing" the stereo which is either the speaker needs replacing or something is loose in there. Questions :- 1) how easy is the door card to remove to investigate, any diagrams, tools, tips? 2) Is there an aftermarket speaker set out there which will drop into the doors with out the need for major surgery? Thanks in advance.
  4. Have used them thus far for warranty work, after having purchased the car from our "friends"at Streets. Hated Streets, and had no intention of going back there. Clist & Rattle sent me a letter saying they were taking over from Streets, and to contact them with any issues, so i did. Car went in twice to get warranty work sorted out, which they have done, no complaints. Two niggles though, enough to make me go elsewhere for the service (here's hoping they read this!) 1) They charged me for the curtousy car, to quote "because I didn't buy my car from them" So am I a customer they have just recruited and wish to retain??, and possibly sell me a face lift VRS when its out next year.... Short sighted I'd say, clearly not thinking about the longer term, I paid, but thought, for the sake of £20 you are NOT now getting my servicing or new car purchase! 2) On the way back home from collecting the car, it over heated!!!!! managed to get it off the m'way. Called them to tell them, and ask what they had done, they didn't know, and suggested I call RAC out. So I did, all sorted by RAC, no coolant!!!! Still waiting for the call from C&R to see if I got home OK........ So C&R, if you are reading this, your short sightedness has cost you a new customer for both servicing and new car sale........I'm well in the market for a facelifted VRS in 2009. ***************************
  5. With the news of additional penalties for using mobile phone etc.. in the car, my Mrs has started to say that my nokia bluetooth car kit ain't quite good enough. She thinks I should change things round a bit so the phone is controled via the HU. What would folks recommend in place of my Stream HU, with Nokia bluetooth and Denison icelink hooked up to it. I want to keep the green lighting, so really want something that can manage bluetooth phone, Ipod, and may be have a CD player/MP3 player built in. Seen one by Alpine 9884? which looked quite trick! Any suggestions/installs already done which fit my parameters?
  6. Ah!, I'm the opposite, being a great fan of diesels, I just want them to know they have been "whipped" by a donnkey diesel! Especially those 1.2 Corsa's with a downpipe for an exhaust, and the biggest wing they can find "hangining on by a thread" on the boot!
  7. I saw a very nice 56plate vRS estate the other day on the m25, put a spotted post up, but not got a reply (yet), but it had a very cheeky TDI badge on it, very subtle, it wasn't the usual VW TDI badge, more along the style/design of the Audi S-Line badge, with the TDI text integrated into it. Anyone got any ideas? where it came from/can get one? is it OEM over and above the normal VRS badge on the boot beneath the OCTAVIA. Thanks in advance for any feedback. Funkycat
  8. Hiya What stubbie aerial have you bought? I bought a cheap one off ebay, it fitted OK as it came with a variety of attachements, however once fitted the reception was awful, so took it off and went back to OEM beesting aerial. I've thinking about getting a Honda stubbie, but just not got round to it, they are supposed to have good reception.
  9. Aye, its does look good, mine was already done when I bought it from the dealer! One of the reasons I chose this one over other ones I looked at. It does seem to act like a road sweeper on the motorway too! Especially when the auto lights are on for some reason on a warm June day! So much so that it attracted the attention of the local traffic constabulary on Swindon race track (sorry ring road) the other morning! Oooopps, thank fully it was early, and I wasn't pusing it too hard, so had chance to ease off gently, and they went past me slowly, but having a good look at the car! Perhaps they wanted to swap their bland 3 series for my Octy II!!!
  10. As title says, rear sensors have packed up. recently has Nokia phone kit put in, which also failed after a couple of days (both went at same time) Phone installed co came out and found inline fuse they had put in for the phone power had blown. Any obvious places to look in order to park sensors going again? Have check fuse, or at least I think its the right fuse going by the guide in side the fuse box cover, but it doesn't seem to totally match layout. Anyone know which fuse is the rear park fuse? Funkycat
  11. very nice indeed, wud luv one in my Octy II, reckon it would fit using a double DIN with original skoda faceplate?
  12. Mmmmmmmm...................not really my thing...doesn't loook that trick to me, why not just get the original grill painted/dechromed to match bnody colour like mine! Lower grill is OK though.
  13. Thanks for all the advice folks, been out and tried it tonight, switched the earth from pos 2 to pos 3, and there you go, we have Ipod fully functional, all playlists, FFW RRW,track skip etc.. Gr8 stuff go 200miles to do tmr, willenjoy even more now! Saved a cooled £80 on buying Gateway 100!! Thanks again, appreciated! Funkycat!
  14. Folks read on a couple of post here that Denison icelinks have been fitted into the jumbo box. I have a Denison cradle which I would like to mount in the jumbo box, question is, how do you route the lead in neatly? I assume you have to be brave and drill a hole in the bottom of the jumbo box, and route lead along under gear lever housing etc..... Funkycat
  15. Ah, cheers for that, I'll give that a go 2nite after work/kids in bed! Also read that some folks are just earting black lead to HU chasis, which improves things somewhat...........here's hoping one solution or the other works!
