  1. Rear discs on my roomster scout are quite badly ridged . Pads are fine , mileage 19000. Front discs are perfect. Any suggestions as to the problem or is this normal ( car is 2 years old ) JAMK
  2. I have a roomster scxout with 16 inch wheels and low profile tyres. Is there sufficient room in the wheel arches to fit standard sized tyres in place of the low profile. Thanks JAMK
  3. Now that winter is here has anyone fitted winter tyres to a skoda roomstewr with 17" rims Are chains available to fit the low profile tyres? I have also heard of snow socks being a reasonable alternative for short distances - has anyone tried them ? Cheers JAMK
  4. Could be air temp. I will keep a close eye on it in the next few days which are due to be warm. JAMK
  5. I have a roomster scout 1.9. I have noticed a small drop in antifreeze level a couple of times. Not much - only requires 20cc or so to top up. No leaks apparent and top properly screwed on until click heard. Is this normal or must there be a small leak somewhere. Mileage 8000. thanks JAMK
  6. Pressing the reset button for 2 seconds or so only resets the mpg figure but not the trip value. Looks like a visit to the dealer , although it is maybe not worth the hassle. JAMK
  7. The trip computer on my roomster scout 1.9 is giving some funny readings eg 60mpg town running , normally around the 30 mark and the trip miles will no longer zero using the reset Any ideas. JAMK
  8. Thanks for the info - both systems look suitable. Jamk
  9. According to the book it is not possible to fit snow chains to a Skoda roomster scout - anyone tried this or have any idea of an alternative other than fitting snow tyres at great expense. Any advice would be useful. JAMK
  10. Thanks for the replies. For those interested I have just towed my caravan ( 900kg) to the Scottish NW coast and back to Aberdeen. Average mpg 40 - actual as measured brim to brim. Tows very well. Skoda Roomster Scout 1.9
  11. I have noticed that if I lift my foot of the accelerator in top gear and allow the engine revs to drop to idle the engine revs then pick up again and the car actually gains speed. Is this normal?. I know that some marine diesels do this to prevent stalling if the engine is under load and the throttle is closed. Is this the same with the 1.9 tdi? JAMK
  12. Roomster scout - noticed that I appeared to have only one rear fog light ( offside ). Thought the nearside bulb was bust but when checked bulb was fine but no power to the socket - confusing - until I phoned the garage to be informed that the roomster has only one rear fog light - seems a bit strange - Is this correct? JAMK
  13. Just got a roomster scout. Anyone know if you can get mud flaps for this vehicle. - Dealer says they are not available but I am sure I saw something about rear mud flaps being available for the scout. jamk
  14. Just got my roomster scout 1.9tdi and will be towing a familia 320gt. Notice in the book that it is advisable to cover 1000km before towing with a new car. Any comments on this? JAMK
