  1. I wonder if it was for a magazine, not often you get 2 cars like that together!
  2. One of my best mates is a total Saab nut, he has a classic 900 turbo with over 200bhp. He invited me along to the Saab national meet. In the car park they set up cones that you had to park in, and then drive around a course etc...fastest time won a watch! The car that won was an old Saab 2-stroke with less than 100bhp, because it was so nimble and quick off the mark! 2nd place was a Saab 93 with 350bhp and then there was my ST. They took the mick a bit because I obviously wasn't in a Saab, but it was all just for a laugh anyway. It was quite a good idea I thought, gave everyone something to watch rather than just lookin at polished cars all day
  3. A 79 year old English gent has started broadcasting his life story on youtube.com. While you would think maybe none of the predominantly far younger users would be interested he has had getting on for half a million hits in less than a week and taken the place by storm! It really shows how the internet has the power to change how we do things. Apparently this nice old man with a simple headset using windows movie maker currently has better viewing figures than Dr Phil in the USA I reckon this will be quite a cool news story, it was picked up by channel 4 last night and a few websites mention it. Anyway for those who haven't seen it if you go to youtube and click on channels you can find a link to his videos. Respect to the internet grandad, I hope i can still use the latest technology if i get to be 79
  4. Hi guys Yeah i'm still hangin around here after selling my furby! This forum is definitely the best on the net There are some nice guys on the ST forum but it's so quiet, sometimes there are only a couple of posts per day...can you imagine that? Also there is no Mil Anyway i was bored on Sunday so made this vid, it is the first one I have ever done (windows movie maker is a bit rubbish ) so be kind! Hopefully get some more high-speed footage of the ST soon (be easier if I had my own private track like so many people on here seem to :P ) http://media.putfile.com/My-ST-video
  5. Hi all Just wonderin where some of you get the cool animated GIFs from. I had a quick search on google but it brought up some right trash and blatant spyware websites cheers andy
  6. When I go out I normally have to drive (live out in the sticks) and so only have 1 drink and then coke the rest of the night. Asked for a bottle of Magners the other night, they are massive Don't think I was over the limit, but wouldnt have enjoyed being pulled over and brethalised that night :thumbdwn:
  7. As the final part of my degree I am writing a dissertation (12,000 words :( ) The subject of my project is the improvement in reliability of cars. I am looking at changes in design, garages and the ways automotive journalism and surveys (like J D Power) have had an impact on the industry. It would be incredibly helpful if anyone who works for a franchise or independent garage could tell me: 1/ A bit about how the reliability of the cars you work on has changed during your career. 2/ Do you think that 12,000 mile/1 year service intervals are a good thing? Have any faults arisen that could have been picked up if the car was inspected more regularly. 3/ How has customer care changed and the perception of the garage? Do you have certain rules/training about dealing with customers? 4/ Anything else you feel might be useful for my project. Obviously I won't use anyones names or the name of the garage they work for. Cheers
  8. Hi guys I swapped my Fabia Vrs for an ST150. The ST is definitely quicker than a Vrs 0-60 and probably a second ahead 0-100. That would make a remapped Vrs quicker than a stock ST. The ST takes more concentration to drive fast, you can't rely on the torque as much so you need to be in the sweet spot! http://media.putfile.com/ST-vs-200sx Here is a vid of me racing my mates 200sx (200bhp) from 0-130 at bruntingthorpe. Both cars standard. You cant see to the end of the race on the video but I was ahead by 3 car lengths. I was pleasantly surpised My only explanation is that his car is very long geared and a P-reg where mine is a 55-plate
  9. Hi JUT I'm afraid I have no idea about your problem, but I did pass you on the French Motorway between Rouen and Calais! I saw your numberplate and all the briskoda stickers and wanted to wave but now I drive a Fiesta ST150 you probably wouldnt have waved back Hope you had a good time, it was one of the best weekends of my life
  10. Hello again Just got back from a nice little drive, finding it hard to leave the ST in the garage to be honest. I was getting a bit annoyed during the week, because it seemed to rain everytime I stepped out of the house, but today is gorgeous and I got to feel just how grippy the fiesta is. After owning the car for a bit now it's amazing how different it is compared to the Vrs, considering they are a similar package. My conclusion is: If you cover a lot of miles and want a car that is good for cruising and relaxing to drive, but quick, buy the Vrs. If (like me) you want something that is very involving to drive I would say the ST wins. It sounds like a racing car, the steering is fantastic and you have to work quite hard at the wheel to make the most of it, but when you get it right it feels great. In terms of straight line speed, it feels very different without the torque but really flies in 2nd and 3rd gear. I think 21.8seconds to 100 is pretty similar to a Vrs Autocar test figs). Andy
  11. Thanks everyone! I'm pretty excited, been trying to keep busy all day so it goes faster! The interior isn't quite as expensive feeling as the Fabia, but then again the Fabia does have a few rattles which i hope the Fiesta won't get. It was amazing when i started looking for a replacement for the Furby how hard it was to find something. I'd say there are only 3 or 4 cars that are similar, and one of those is the Ibiza which doesnt count. I considered the Grande Punto 1.9 130bhp but I wanted something sportier so it had to be petrol really. There will be no stripes for me I'm afraid! I already got some ***** in Saxos racing me and that was just on the test drive. I'll probably do a write up on the ST when i'm used to it. Anyone else on here bought one?
  12. Just been cleaning my Vrs for the last time :( I'm taking it to a Ford dealer in the morning, and they are selling it on to the Skoda garage I bought my Furby from originally. In return (and with a bit of extra cash) I'm driving home in a 55 plate Fiesta ST with 4000 miles on the clock The Fabia has been an amazing car, it was always fun to drive. The only thing that ever went wrong with it was the heated mirror switch. I decided it was a good time for a change, even though I'm not at all bored with the fabia it is just about to loose its warranty and need its first MOT. I was going to fit new suspension to get the handling just how I want it, but for the amount it was gonna cost I could get a newer car! The Ford dealer is owned by a family friend who let my keep the ST I am buying all night on Thrusday. I took it on all my favorite roads and the handling is really superb. TBH it didnt feel as quick as the fabia in places, but I think thats because I am used to driving with torque instead of revs. The engine sounds fantastic and even pops on the overrun a bit when the exhaust is warm. Anyway here is a pic. I will still be looking at the forum, it's the best on the net! PS I know the fuel economy will be rubbish, don't rub it in
  13. I would say it depends what type of roads you enjoy most. One of my best mates has an S14, totally standard, and I can easily keep up with him on twisty b-roads in my Fabia Vrs because he finds it quite challenging to drive fast on narrow roads and it doesn't have massive reserves of grip. On fast A roads, motorways etc it is very quick. The car obviously has great handling, but its a bit harder to exploit if you are used to front-wheel drive cars. For less than half the price of a 350z you could have a seriously sorted 200sx!
