  1. I had the same problem of corrosion around the number plate lights on my 2008 Fabia 1.9Tdi estsate last year. After being inspected at D.M.Keith, Hull a new tailgate was fitted under the 10 year paint/corrosion warranty.
  2. All fixed. Nearside front wheel bearing worn and offside ball joint knackered. So had new front wheel bearings/hubs fitted to both sides, 2 new ABS sensors fitted and a new ball joint. Total cost £225, which I didn`t think was a bad price. M+M Autotech in Beverley.
  3. Firstly the tyres fitted are Goodyear Eagle F1 on Wolfrace rims. Checked over no issues there. Tracking and wheel alignment done when tyres were fitted. Could not find any breaks in the springs, and when spinning the wheels didn`t hear or feel any noise or vibes. But I did notice that the inside of the offside disc was more worn down than the other 3 sides of the discs. Would a sticking caliper cause this noise ? So off to the garage it will go, discs came with a two year warranty so maybe I`ll have some new wheel bearings aswell while the wheels are off. Thanks for everyone`s input. Will let you know how it turns out.
  4. Bigsqueeper Hello everyone, I have a 2008 Fabia 3 estate 1.9Tdi and over the last couple of weeks it has developed a noise from the front end, sounds like you are driving on a concrete road with a rippled surface. Noise begins at approx. 30mph and is loudest at 40mph. Doesn`t make any difference to which gear you are in or whether you drop it out of gear and coast. May be slightly louder if you turn to the right but not by much. As you speed up the noise either decreases or the wind, engine noise masks it. New discs and tyres fitted last year. Any ideas, I do like to have a bit of an idea before I take it into a garage. Thankyou.

  6. Hi, is there an easy way of increasing the tickover speed slightly on a 2002 fabia 1.4 8v. My bikes are from the 1980`s so carbs have idle adjust screws as did my Morris but these new fandangled cars look a bit complicated.
  7. Hi, I purchased boot liners, carpet inserts and car mats for my fabia estate and hatch from a firm called carmats4u.com . Another firm is carmats uk which are a little bit cheaper.
  8. GeneralD, Will post pics of my Fabia when I`ve changed back onto my summer wheels. Use the original alloys with winter tyres when the temp starts hitting 7 and below. I live near a council depot and the town is the council HQ. You can`t believe how much salt I have to drive through on a morning. Bonus is that the windscreens frost free due to the salt thrown onto it from the passing gritters.
  9. My own car used to belong to my company so I didn`t have a choice as to which garage did the servicing etc. They always used the local Skoda dealer which it was purchased from. I kept copies of all the receipts of work done. I now use a firm called M&M Autotech since buying the car 3 years ago. Service, filters and brake fluid,Skoda garage, £257.99, 3 years ago. Service, filters, brake fluid, cambelt and waterpump £265 from M&M last week. As a latecomer on the wheels my Fabia 1.9Tdi Estate has gloss black 16" Wolfrace Assassin alloys with Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres. The original alloys I had fitted with a set of winter tyres. As for the mpg I drive 10 miles to work in 30/40 mph areas and usually get 58mpg during the winter and approx. 65mpg during the summer. Out of town that`s a different matter, mpg drops off a little probably due to extra oomph from the Revo Technic stage 1 ecu remap I had done as soon as the car became mine. Just `cos I look like a boring old fart in a Skoda I don`t have to drive like one.
  10. Hi, TMB. Result. Fitted 2 new pipes as outlined in your photo, also fitted K+N air filter and now we have a smooth tickover. The ones I took off were badly perished, cracked in places and very soft and squidy in others.
  11. Have spent the last 15 years driving 1.9Tdi Fabia estates so have got used to 60+mpg. The Fabia 1.4 was bought for the kids to learn to drive in and use when they pass their tests so they can have the pleasure of filling it up.
  12. Thanks for that. The ebay order is done. It`s a sound little car. Bought it 3 months ago for £650, years mot, serviced and hardly a scratch on it. Did have to have the inside fumigated though, smoker and dog owner. Daughter has just passed her test and my son is learning to drive in it.
  13. Sometimes when I lock the car the red light on the drivers door stays lit, the alarm is on and all the doors are locked except for the rear drivers side door. When opened the alarm goes off. You have to open and close the door several times before it locks and the red light flashes as normal. A garage thought they had fixed it after checking the wires supplying the door but now everything locks when its supposed to but when you unlock the doors the rear drivers side door remains locked. Annoying for passengers but at least I can leave the car locked.
  14. Could try a new battery. I don`t know how old the one fitted is, I`ve only had the car 3 months. It starts ok but the tickover speed is approx. 900rpm and sounds like the engine is `hunting`( garage talk ) Would still like to fit new breather hoses though, the ones on are perished.
  15. Was told by my local garage that the erratic tickover on my 1.4mpi may be down to the fact that a couple of breather hoses from the engine top had gone really soft and were collapsing or may have a hole in them somewhere. He advised looking online and buying a set and fitting them myself as the cheapest option (I always use this garage, never overcharges and gives free advice). Can anyone give me any hose details, where I might buy them from, any other cars that use the same hoses. Cheers.
