  1. So impressed. My 1.2 tsi 86bhp was done by Revo December 2015. In a Roomster. It went up to 129. That was at was at 20k. Just after 2nd service. I have now done 12k miles and the last service carried out by a main dealer in Feb 17 on its 3rd birthday. Transformed the drive. Now more responsive and really decent. Most impressively mpg risen to norm around 40 plus locally and nearer 50 on runs. Down side is revo dealer indicated should use higher octane that I do, but engine is so sweet. Main dealer did not notice or comment on re map at service. Revo did a deal at xmas when price was 25% off like in a sale. All well within tolerance and no stress on engine. It obviously pulls so much better and more relaxed.
  2. First FULL tank brim to empty and to brim. Worked it out and 43.3 MPG. Mixture motorway and normal pottering. (computer said done more, it lies !) Either way, that is better than ever got before on same driving, just about get near 40. remap has made it better, certainly no issue. Out of interest IF you do it take all your keys in at same time to be recoded as well. I had to go back in with spares and bit of messing around. Very pleased.
  3. My Roomster 1.2 TSI 86 hp. Two years old next Feb 16. Just had second service done at 20K miles with main dealer as part of service plan. Just over a year till end of warranty. I saw that Revo in December were doing the stage one remap with 25% off. The price came down from £399 to £299. Increased Torque, and power went from 86 to 129. Others here have commented the power in the 86 was adequate and I will concur fully with that, but after all research and some diligence I went for it with a local Revo dealer (who also a well respected independent VW/Audi garage). I had registered my interest with Revo UK head office early in December and got my certificate for the discount, and had it done a week before Xmas. The result is really like night and day. The performance was certainly OK before, now i would say it is good. I notice the extra power on hills where i live and more relaxed drive on Motorway. I used to keep Revs between 2 - 3 K and still do, and I find that the car pulls so much better in that rev range. Certain local hills can be taken now in a higher gear, previously had to say go from third to second. The interesting thing is while they were doing it (Streetwise Bristol) they rang me and said i could have one of three different maps uploaded. One (which i did chose) suggested using better fuel such a Shell V Power for example. However, it would still run perfectly well on normal cheaper stuff but I might notice a small loss in power as ecu adjusted. I chose that map as i tend to use Tesco momentum fuel anyway that is 99 ron. I will report back accordingly with MPG figures, but I suspect I will be getting far better than I did before. All things considered I am a happy bunny. The irony is if i had wanted a 105hp engine it would have cost me a whopping £4K extra at the time, (had discount/offer on the 85 engine at the time). My car is certainly a keeper now, and even the other half commented how it is a better drive. Only disappointment was the place where it was fitted did not have a dyno so no chart of before and after (dealer not allowed one due to close proximity to houses) but I am happy. It is obvious a great improvement.
  4. Was offered 6.7k on my 2014 Feb 1.2 tsi. Not even two years old, £3.2k in 20 months. Forgot that. Spend £299 on Revo re map. Transformed car. Was adequate before, now great.see separate thread
  5. Agree with this chap spot on. I am now 60 and been a Biker for 40 years. I am sort of retired and lucky me have two trips abroad each year on my two wheels. I have a bandit now as needed something a bit smaller in the dimension stakes but still with touring ability hence in 2012 got myself a bandit 1250 when the wife retired from riding on the rear with me (she fly's down to Spain, I ride down and we meet up other end !). Its about the same size and weight as the 650 but you can ride the thing like a scooter, leave it in top all day with loads Torque and I still get great MPG (getting on for 60 when touring). The 650 would be great for you as a starter. Fantastic smooth bomb proof engine. The SV650 would also be useful, but a bit more character and vibes ! Also more sporty riding position . Also look at Tiger 800's. Being more mature in age you should not get hammered on insurance. (Me on my 1250 Fully comp, 200 excess 90 for year(max no claims)
  6. Possible indeed, but is there more wear on a 105 1.2TSI than 85 1.2TSI ? It simply has a slightly brisker performance higher up the rev range, in fact I might have to rev the 85 a bit harder to make same progress as the 105 ? Interesting view mind but like anything is it about how maintained which amounts to longevity ?
  7. Jabba. used them before, very good. Peterborough. Brave having it done after first service. :peek: I got a good deal on a service plan when i got mine, and after 2nd service I then have a years warranty left. The only issue I ever had with a Skoda was a leaking radiator on a 12 month old vRS that was replaced in a day or so. So if ever a problem like cropped up it should be safe !
  8. I have owned my Roomster since Feb 2014 when new. Basically a special when they had the 9995 deal. I have posted previously that I went from a 105 tsi engine down to the 85 one. The car is great. My wife hated the looks of it and called it an 'old mans' car but even she has come round that it is rather useful with loads of room and actually a good drive with reasonable performance. I can afford another car and have thought about an Octavia estate and fancy the 1.4TSI engine. A Skoda dealer said my car was a Marmite car, people love them or hate them I guess, but he always shifts them if tidy (as is mine). Today done a 100 mile round trip and returned grand daughter to home and in all fairness the car will crack along easy at well above the legal limit but I have found that if you can discipline yourself to stay at 70 or just under the MPG is so much better. I recently did a 500 mile cross country round trip and driving at around 70 got best ever MPG at 48MPG (when filled out by brimming tank and working it out. The trip/computer was quite accurate as well.) I now see that quite a few reputable car centres will remap the TSI and actually take it up to 129bhp and improve the Torque. I have been quoted 399 by the same people who did my VRS some years ago and after having it done the car was so much better and I did another 35K on it before I sold it without any issue. So I am contemplating getting mine done as a gift to myself, appreciating it will write off the last year warranty on my car if i had a engine issue. They told me they had done a few 1.2TSIs with great results and all adding no extra stress on the unit, not as if you would be red lining a roomster for long ! I have a service plan, will get second service done and then go for it  Look out for a Flying Roomster !
  9. My car will be 2 years old next Feb (2016) Now done 17K miles from new. 1.2TSI 86. SE Checked it today, not a drop used at all. One service last February at around 10K. If from using no oil to suddenly consuming large quantities would indicate a problem, but these TSI engines are great ! I have owned both the 105 and 85 versions. (105 in a Monte Carlo before I needed to change). 12K on that and never used a drop. Very impressed
  10. Engine options ! I have a 1.2tsi 86bhp I have made quite a few enquiries and various reputable firms will now do a remap and bring it up to 125bhp (obviously even better than 105) and claimed to be totally safe within tolerances. Mine is 2 years old on February and I will do it after its second service. I am more interested in a bit more torque and this can easily be provided at relative small cost ! Have you had a look at this ? In a previous life i had my vRS done and it was great with no issues. Done by Jabba sport
  11. If your prepared to travel you will find some. saw one at a dealership last week at 9995.
  12. One year ownership of 1.2TSi 86hp. I intend on doing a full review of my 'year' on this forum for what its worth . 9,000 miles and later today first service (an oil change if thats what you call the first service!). I have had the 105hp engine in a fabia Monte Carlo before hand, and recently helped my sister acquire a Rapid with the 105hp engine. The difference in performance is really marginal, only notice it higher up the rev range. Look for the petrol tsi engine, it really is a gem, the low down torque makes it feel like a oil burner with out the issues associated with a DPF. You will find some cracking deals on SE spec, depending on the budget you have. I love it. My wife hates the 'look' but concedes its great to drive, and so practicable.
  13. I note you say the budget is 10K. you can get a NEW Rooster 1.2TSI petrol. 9995K. That is so cheap. I got mine a year ago on same deal. All benefits having a new car, but likewise this will hit second hand values. The tsi engine is a cracker. The 85hp has loads torque and I have never felt it lacks 'puff' took 4 adults to Brum in a 250 mile round trip last week end. Cruised above legal speed limit with out issue. I would be careful on the diesel due to well documented DPF issues unless lots motorway. Get one for a test ride. the engine can be found across the range
  14. been looking and found nothing, want something to break it up around the rear sides ? I see from an old thread that once there was a Roomster decal that went along the length of the car the bottom half on the sides ? Anyone put anything on theirs ? Looking for some ideas !
  15. get one if you can, you will not be sorry, and seen NEW ones back at 9995. That is one hell of a lot of car for that !
