  1. Had the car 9 months [on variable]. Days & mileage on service interval display just keep increasing - expected this at first until things settled down after the initial service. They reckon a fault with the dash insert? :confuse:
  2. My Octavia II is going into the dealers as there is a problem with the service indicator. I suggested that the dealer should not reset it without a service [which was accepted] and that as the work is under warranty, the service should be FOC [again accepted]. What type of service is it realistic to expect i.e what should be replaced/checked in anticipation of the service interval being reset after the fault has been rectified?
  3. Had my Octi for about 6 months and is on variable servce. The indicator according to the manual should show a decreasing number of miles to next service followed by number of days to next service - that's if I've understood the manual correctly. Both my numbers go up - never down. I queried this with the dealer and he said that was right, the numbers go up until the service is due said I didnt think so but wanted to check out further before I went back to him. If the numbers are going up how can you monitor how long it is until next service? Any ideas please?
  4. Thanks Moley & gadgetman with your comments ... I'm going back to the delaer and I'll report back what happens.
  5. Cheezemonkhai Haven't bought any yet but what's the dilution rate for Stardrops?
  6. I’ve just got a 2007 Octy II with a Stream MP3 radio. It has been commented on in numerous posts that the reception is **** bad. I agree, forget MW and LW.... no chance, it sounds like something through a tin of baked beans at best, FM is ok sometimes but fluctuates to such an extent that you just want to give up on it. I won’t give in to upgrading just yet and have read many of the posts regarding testing and what could be wrong. Using the menu button I’m generally getting the following readings, can anyone explain in layman terms what each means and the readings I’m getting [mono, stereo & weak I can work out !] so I can go back to the dealer well prepared as still under warranty. FM ANT off MP 0 NK 0 RDS 1 Q Mono (occasionally goes into stereo) MW & LW Q Weak AF is set to ON and Seek to DX Thanks in advance for help Got the font wrong... not shouting really
  7. Mannyo Dont know! From what I've worked out this morning it looks like its set up for fixed 10k, yet the book is showing variable. Still think I should also be getting something to show what was done on it and the vehicle status check although Ray's point about private vs trade sale is valid.
  8. Apologies if I've not posted this in the correct area. Just got a year old Octi (my first) from a Skoda dealer with 4,500 on the clock which was to include a service. The service book has been stamped but nothing has been ticked to say what has or has not been done / checked. When the car is serviced should you not get a copy the workshop inspection record (or something similar) showing exactly what was checked and what if anything was replaced? I am especially concerned about the oil as dealer thinks (waiting for confirmation) it is on variable. I also didnt get details of the vehicle status checks (prioe history, any outstanding finance and confirmation of true mileage etc) I dont want to nit pick but kind of thinkin these things are important? Thanks for any thoughts...
  9. Got it for £10,200 - I know its cheaper to buy new from likes of Autofinders. I saw the Elegance on there for £12,495 + delivery (£220 for me, or go and collect) but think with the low mileage I dont reckon it was too bad a deal from the local guy ( I hope !). By the way I couldnt get a delaer locally below £13,500 for a new one Thanks to everyone.
  10. Been to local skoda dealer and negotiated price down to £10,400 (he's been very good, but I still want the best deal and to not pay over the odds) - 1.6 FSI Elegance 5 DR, 4,500 miles, Registered Mar 2007. Its in good nic, got to make a decsion first thing tomorrow - what do you think guys, worth it now? Whatcar says £10,080, Glass's via vauxhall website says £10,550.
  11. 1.6 FSI Elegance 5 DR, 4,500 miles, Registered Mar 2007 £10,995 Good deal? What do you think guys?
  12. If they are saying they apply a first registration fee doesn't that mean that you are the first registered owner?
  13. Hi Has anyone had any experience of buying a new car over the interent from Autofinders Ltd (or similar type companies) ? http://www.autofinders.ltd.uk/index.php Their prices are cheaper than main dealers but you always think there is a catch. Will Skoda main dealers honnour all the warranties? if something goes wrong do you simply go to a local Skoda dealer with it... and how happy would the dealer be about that? Any thoughts / experiences appreciated Thanks
  14. Been phoning around my local dealers and none seem to have spec 3 Met Black estate ! Maybe you have to compromise on the exact spec for the price?
