  1. I found it under the plastic engine cover, it is a sticker.
  2. Had the gearbox drained, no big pieces just fine particles, the colour was a bit brassy. The knock is still there at every gear change, unless I ease the clutch coming up and press the accelarator. Do I need a new gearbox?
  3. Thank you, I will drain the gearbox and hope for the best.
  4. Gday all, My car(Fabia 1 - 1.4L petrol, 103k km about 70k miles) has a strange metallic knock sound when I release the clutch (while driving) without using the accelarator. (shifting the gears up or down with 2500-3500 revs) Also when I accelerate to let say 3500, then release the pedal I hear the same knock. I went to a repair guy who put it on the bridge, then rotated the wheels by hand and then later the drive rods together, a metallic sound is heared and there is a clearance in them. His suggestion was to leave it be or put teflon in the gearbox. My brother says drain the oil and sif for metal. Does anybody have a professional opinion? thanks, kami.
  5. djeesh, I'm happy i'm not the only one. I'm a bit fed up with my car, the thing is I would buy an other fabia without thinking. My brother (the car mechanic) says to me to buy a vw polo. A well first wait and see what this coolant problem is. I love the fabia, hate the new one though.:thumbdwn:
  6. Hi there, I own a mica black fabia 1.4Mpi and I think it's the greatest lokking ride in it's class. I bought it new and now it's 6 years old with 55k miles. It has been a love hate relationship( I love it but it hates me:mad:) So far this has been wrong with it : -rpm sensor replaced -fuel tank replaced -steeringwheel angle sensor replaced -rpm sensor replaced -glove box door replaced -antenna replaced -fuel injector replaced -thermostat replaced -electicwindow system wire, driverdoor replaced -radiator fan repaired at the moment it has a leaking coolant problem, which they have problems finding, already replaced the gasket on the temp sensor I'm sure i've forgotten some of it, non the less it's alot, some of the work was in garantee though. greetz Kami
  7. What does matter how ever, is where you fill up. I used to do this at a cheap petrol station, the skoda had to replace my fuel tank which had a leak leak(in warranty) The muck that came out of it after 2,5 years of cheap fuel was unbelieveable. I tank at shell now, no more cheap stuff.
  8. My Skoda does this every 250 miles orso and then I have to fill it up 0,7liters(sorry i'm a metric lad) G12 coolant. I have a petrol 1.4Mpi Ive been to the dealer twice now first to replace the gasket on the thermostat(i think) 2nd for an overheating engine(fan failed) I rang them up after they renewed the gasket and I had to refill the coolant. The reply was that there was still air in the system, wich sounds fair. This morning(after 250 miles from the fill up) I had to do that again. I don't have any muck in the expansion tank, so the head gasket problem is out. I've had a look around the engine and radiator but I see no leakage, I'm at a loss now. This car is 6 years old now and has about 55k miles on it. Does anybody have a clue?
