  1. My reasons for going for the 1.2 were the very short journeys most less that 5 miles, and fear of DPF problems with the Diesels, although never heard of any Yeti's having DPF issues.
  2. Hope your enjoying your car... if your getting 40+ thats brill. Whatever fuel economy I achieved it I still think it was worth every penny as driving the Yeti is FUN! What options is yours carrying? Are you travelling on your own or fully loaded? Notice yours is also running on 16" wheels. Would the Tyre / Wheel combination affect mpg ? Mine was running on 17" Dunlops. How old is your 1.2? Maybe they've improved the software, and consumption?
  3. I'm glad others are getting better fuel economy... these were just my observations after 2.5 years and around 10000 miles. " New Yetis seem to be pricier - Can't get the same spec for around the price I paid new in 2010." - What I meant by this was even allowing for Inflation and VAT increase. The deals don't seem to be there anymore. Guess Skoda dealers know how great the Yeti is, the product sells itself, so not willing to discount.... great for low depreciation.... great trade in. I bought my fully loaded (every option) Yeti for a great price in 2010. Same car is now at least 15% more. Don't think I or the wife has a particular heavy right foot.... so not sure why so low.... ... although 80% of journeys in heavy stop start traffic, school, shopping runs.... Even the optimistic trip computer would suggest 28-29mpg at best - other cars i've had in the past seem to achieve near claimed combined figures but never better....so maybe it was just my Yeti, early model? fault? or weight of options, kids etc, and getting the thing moving everytime we stop in traffic.. Hope the big Yeti, grand Yeti, Yeti +2 or Snowman, whatever it ends up being called has extra boot/ seven seats.
  4. After two and a half years happy and proud Yeti ownership my time with my little 1.2 with deep regret has come to an end. I've finally had to bite the bullet and get something bigger. I've gone for a used XC90 an altogether different beast. Positives - Placed order and bought without test driving pre hype. One of the first 1.2 dsgs - exceeded expectations! Great fun to drive, plenty of get up and go, So quiet, a joy to own, drive.... great spec - mine was fully loaded, No squeaks or rattles, reliable, low depreciation ( based on price paid in 2010 ). That sunroof.... lets loads of light in and opens!!! Interiror doesn't feel cheap and finally i've been left with great, very positive memories. Negatives - Build Delays. Claimed economy - never more than mid to high twenties mpg in everyday use, alloy wheel and badge white worm, leaky sunroof sometimes. DSG sometimes hesitant. Park Assist never trusted it again after it kerbed rear NS alloy. Farce over ordering spare and sunroof options together. Room for improvement- Small boot with spare in place. After 1st year,,,, began to have nagging doubts over DSG reliability... weird rumbles when pulling away from standstill never failed though. No KM markings on speedo, rear seat backs only cloth material easily damaged / how safe - should have a metal plate. 12 speaker sound system??? not worth the extra. New Yetis seem to be pricier - Can't get the same spec for around the price I paid new in 2010. Front seat bases seem to ripple. Expensive front indicator bulb changes... why is something so simple so complicated not simply clever. I'd like to wish all who contribute, those who just visit, support this site, and all you Skoda / Yeti owners out there all the very best... to those undecided about the Yeti... I say go buy one... you'll never regret buying one....it becomes part of the family letting go is very hard though... If only there were a Grand Yeti..... I'd be at the front of the queue..... Are you listening Skoda??????
  5. I have just installed a Columbus in my Yeti. It's 2010 DSG Elegance with th 12 speaker SoundSystem. Originally had Bolero. All appears to work OK, except I get electrical static crackle through the rear right speaker. This occurs even when the Columbus is off and the keys are out of the ignition. The crackle is there 24/7 unless I unplug the Columbus from the car using the large multiplug on the rear of the Columbus. I've had the coding checked and the following errors have been reported. Not sure what to do though. Don't think I can leave the unit in the car as I presume its running or crackling continously, and i'm sure will drain the battery. Doesn't look like the battery drain issue reported elsewhere because the gateway is AE revision, but I don't know now. Help needed. 6. I like Lava Blue, if it looks as good as the photoshopped image it lends an understated class to the Yeti in this shade. Definitely a colour i'd consider if I ever replace mine. I considered Storm Blue but found it too bright, and also considered Muscavado. In the end went for Steel Grey. My personal favourite though at the moment is the Orange. A real suprise when you see it in the flesh.
  7. Thanks Mike, I think i'll go ahead with this. Watch this space i'll let you know how I get on.
  8. Thanks James, a copy of the fitting instructions would be great. Only asking the question about park assist as the Superskoda site seems to imply it won't work with park assist equipped Yeti. I presume that the front piece must be different to cater for the parking sensor.
  9. Agree with CT17 all can look OK but isn't always. If you ever have a bump don't just look at the cosmetic and assume all is OK. If you're not upto checking everything yourself, make sure you get the car checked over properly at a dealer and don't let the other party escape without getting their details. In my opinion the Yeti's bumper area isn't as tough as it looks. As well as the cosmetic, make sure anything attached to the bumper, or around it such as the mounting points, bumper bar and skin are still connected, clips, parking sensors, exhaust silencer/ mounting, reflectors, tow bar, boot floor are all still OK. I found out to my cost on my old A3 just how much replacing a single parking sensor cost. It was working pre bump and all looked OK post bump. I didn't get the other parties details.... when I put the car in reverse the warning for esp/parking sensor failure came up on the dash. Too late... parts, labour, painting, waiting for parts / time off work - I had to pick up the bill. It wasn't cheap. My advice would always be to get the other parties details, If alls OK then the other party have nothing to worry about.
  10. Would like to add these to my Yeti http://www.superskoda.com/Skoda/Yeti/Yeti-ORIGINAL--Skoda-Autoas-fender-flares-full-set Anyone had any experience of fitting this pack? Is it easy? Experiences ordering from Super Skoda? Anyone with access to ETKA - is there a version for Park Assist equipped Yetis?
  11. I went for the three spoke wheel when ordering my Yeti new and this was the one option I really wanted which wasn't available. Had paddles on my previous A3 and initially missed them. A year on i'm quite happy with my Yeti, although now knowing this can be done i'm seriously considering it as a retrofit... but have a few questions. 1. Does this mod affect your insurance premium? and if so by how much? 2. Any problems after fitting? 3. Do you have part nos for the wheel and any other bits needed? 4. What coding changes are made? 5. Do you still use it as much as you thought you would after the initial novelty has worn off?
  12. Same issue with my rear badge. OK up until end of April then the worm appeared. Getting it replaced under warranty on Wednesday. advised it should be 1/2hr while u wait repair.

    Exit Assist

Park assist How it works The park assist system can assist you with parking in a suitable parallel parking space between two vehicles or behind a vehicle. On selection (and travelling below 30 km/h) the park assist automatically searches for suitable parking spaces using sensors mounted in the bumpers. During the parking procedure the park assist only takes over the steering movements, the pedals and gears continue to be operated by the driver. This option also includes front park sensors (rear sensors standard on SE & Elegance) which can be controlled indipendantly of the Park assist program via it's own switch. Also manual 2wd models fitted with this option will have ESP fitted as part of the package for no additional cost. Worth having? If you do a lot of street parking this could be for you. A number of owners have commented on how small a space the system can fit the Yeti into. Although there has been the odd negative comment such as not it not recognising a large space as suitable, overall I think owners who have this system fitted are happy with it. One month since delivery and 1200miles on the clock. Use it everyday.... My thoughts on Park Assist are its brill so long as the cars you allow Yeti to squeeze in between have moved on by the time you want to leave. Twice had experience where i've been nervous about getting the car out of the space Park Assist has managed to put it in. Now I won't let it squeeze into a space I wouldn't attempt to manually park in.... Anyone else had a similar experience?
  14. Any update on your car? After considerable testing( hoses, buckets, etc) I haven't been able to recreate the leak. It's even rained twice! I managed to get one of those snake cams and feed it up between the headlining and roof and left it there recording.... no leaks. The only thing I did notice was that the two drain channels exits either side of the tailgate hinge (they look like rubber blank covers) were retaining water, the exit holes appear to be covered by design with only a cut in the rubber to form a flap which allows water to exit. By slightly raising the flaps water was draining much faster. wondering if these had stuck, thus causing a bottleneck, and water to back up and overflow elsewhere, leaking into the interior. For now my Yeti appears to be dry inside... will monitor and update as things progress.
  15. Hi, Thanks for empathising and your advice. Really hope you won't have to wait too much longer to be reunited with your Yeti. It's a great car, and the roof really made it special... I agree that this might become a much bigger issue for Skoda if /as the weather gets worse... with the summer we've had so far, not much rain this is one aspect which hasn't really been tested. As the Yeti has been out in some markets for a while just wondering why this issue hasn't been picked up already. Were the carpets wet, or did you have to remove them to confirm water in the footwells/ underlay? Will carry out further tests this weekend... sit in the boot and see what happens.... I believe more rain is forecast. will post results asap. Then contact dealers/ Skoda etc. I really hope you are saying that your Yeti's leak has been fixed and that the wait is now down to waiting for replacement parts damaged as a result of the initial leak issue. Do you know what Beadles have done to prevent further leaks? Are wider drain channels available, or were the original channels defective in some way and simply replaced?? Regards Paliman
  16. Hi, really sorry to hear about your leaking Yetis - Levnclo and Thomas29… Just discovered my Yeti's also leaking, so that now makes at least 3 of us...On mine it's not just a few drips :'( IMO from a five min poke around the boot area this morning there must be either a design or assembly issue to allow this much water in…. No visible damage, the roof wasn't open... Maybe everyone with the roof option should check their Yeti’s assuming they were left out in the rain yesterday My Yeti was parked on a level drive... the water ingress appears to be from behind the white pillar trim on the right side rear pillar… This has resulted in a couple of water features… the little shelf behind the wheelarch and the plastic tub in the floor containing the tools under the boot mat…. Both were brimming. Headlining, carpets and everything forward of the boot appears to be dry. Will update once I have had a better look this evening. Given the amount of water which has entered the boot area, in a single shower.... (I know the boot was dry the day before.) i'm sure it's not going to be difficult to confirm where the issue is.... My dilema now is how to go about getting this resolved before the weather gets worse without significant inconvenience, multiple trips to the dealer and side effect rattles, damage as the dealer attempts to dismantle, fix and reassemble something which is currently an unknown. How many of these roofs will technicians have worked on?
  17. Had a call from my dealer today... to update me on delivery issues.....my SM has had his build date put back to week 19  I placed the order at the end of Jan, and thought waiting until quoted April delivery would be an eternity now my patience is to be tested into May and possibly beyond!!! Apparently this has been down to a number of factors... ordering the new 1.2 engine and DSG, and loading Elegance with optional sunroof and spare wheel. Skoda ordering system won't allow Spare wheel with Sunroof therefore to achieve the an acceptable spec combination the spare had to go. Dealer has advised he will supply spare and jack seperately. All this because of emissions apparently. Nothing to do with RFL costs, simply that Skoda wants to ensure there average emissions across all cars it sells are within their own targets. Anyone elses build dates slipped? Dealers not happy but his hands are tied...not that its any consolation he's said somewhere around 16 weeks is now average for non standard spec Skodas not just Yetis. How can a 4 month wait be possible? Anyone else having similar issues? I could probably wait until June but wouldn't want to wait any longer.... would need Cambelt, MOT and service for PX. Anyone know where i'd stand if I needed to cancel order if it still hasn't arrived in June? would I lose deposit and be liable for any other costs?

    1.2 TSI DSG

Hi Krooked... not one of the four ... so your search goes on... I was going to update the poll once I'd collected it. I've ordered a 1.2 DSG Elegance in Steel Grey / Gobi, Sunroof, Silver Roof Rails, Spare Wheel, TPM, Annapurna Alloys, Three spoke Steering wheel, sound system, park assist.... ordered just over a week ago expecting delivery mid April. Only option I didn't go for was the Columbus... Hope our cars live upto the hype generated by the reviews....
  19. Thanks everyone for your contributions and guidance.... Being as unpredictable as I usually am... I have placed an order for Steel Grey. The demo in the showroom convinced me it was the colour for my SM. All colour options look great on SM's. in the end I considered Muscavado a colour I might not like in a few weeks... like my purple Volvo, and the Aqua too safe.... there is not enough blue for me... The grey looked just right, I think Skoda could have helped a little if all dealers didn't have the same colours.... Aqua, Muscavado or Black....seeing a colour in the flesh is completely different to photos or the brochures... Happy with my decision now..... just waiting for build schedule now....
  20. I cannot recommend them highly enough... bought my first Skoda an Octy from them two years ago... Jason and Will always totally professional... know their products unlike some.... and how to look after their customers... they are credit to the Skoda brand. Unfortunately on this occasion we could not agree a deal on my new Yeti, so going elsewhere for my new car... Will be using them for parts, servicing etc without giving it a second thought.
  21. Agree Columbus is the best and thats what I retrofitted into my Octy, and will i'm sure be able to do the same in the SM. No sat nav unit is worth 1400+ given the mileage i'm clocking up. at probably half the cost retrofit maybe even less if I resell the original as new bolero it suddenly seems viable. Anyway I've placed my order with the dealer on the basis I make up my mind > confirm the colour by close of business tomorrow otherwise its Aqua Blue.
  22. I thought it was your lights switch on when entering a tunnel and switch off again on exit... On my current Octy I think its part of the Auto setting on the light switch.
  23. You should try the 1.2. It certainly suprised me.Just wondering where the 1.4 would fit in price wise, unless they drop the 1.8 once the new showroom tax starts to have the desired affect on sales. I'm currently driving a petrol 2.0FSI Octy admittedly not VRS and no Turbo, but 150BHP. I don't think i'm going to miss much trading down so to speak.into a 1.2 DSG... I'm no pensioner, or boy racer (no offence to pensioners or boyracers intended ) but still like my cars to have a bit of get up and go....The 1.2 manual i test drove with 15 miles on the clock certainly didn't seem overworked or out of its depth. I'm sure it will improve as it gets a few more miles under its belt....indeed theres a lot more fun to be had with the 1.2. Strange I know but difficult to put into words... I decided the cost of service, and cambelt change didn 't warrant me keeping the Octy. Octy prices are in freefall with discounts available on new... there seem to be good deals on the Yeti as well if you do your homework, know what your PX is worth and lay your cards down on the table and let the salesman know your serious about doing a deal today. Just be honest and don't expect miracles... I've got around 12% off list. The 1.2 indeed does have a timing chain... this hopefully won't need replacement therefore extra saving.... for me insurance...reduced RFL, improved fuel economy, new car warranty etc going for the Yeti now makes more sense over retaining my Octy.
  24. Thanks CharlieB72, Krooked, and TP Glad i'm not the only one who has gone through the pre order jitters especially all important colour selection....I dismissed cappucino beige for being too wishy washy. again another colour which like silver never really looks dirty, but then doesn't sparkle when clean. I've only really considered colours i've seen in the flesh.... yes most dealers only have silver, muscavado, black or aqua. I've seen a few Storm blue Skodas, Octavias and Superbs all looked great so I'm sure CharlieB72 your Yeti will look fab when it arrives. . certainly the photos on the french forum TP posted a link if I remember looked fantastic... but not the colour for me. Never ever seen a lime green Merc... just be grateful Skoda don't do lime green or in the UK rosso brunello. like the volvo purple... Maybe we should both leave colour choices to someone else... we're both going for Muscavado. as well... I think i'll have another look at the one in the showroom before taking the plunge. Don't know if its my eyesight, the daylight or photography but all the muscavado pictures seem to all be different and different to real SMs. Does this colour react a lot to different levels of daylight. One I saw at Letchworth recently looked fab... another near beaconsfield didn't and started all those nagging little doubts. Should I go for another colour Aqua thoughts? I dropped the nav off the options list... figured I could retro fit the OEM unit at much cheaper cost. I won't need the off road functionality of the Yeti Columbus. Have done this in the past ... was very simple 15 mins for the install and another 15 for the coding... although my current Octy has the factory install.
  25. have decided to take the plunge tomorrow.... Only driven the 1.2 manual (no DSG  ) which was a real suprise... drove a 1.8 TSI just before and it didn't feel underpowered. If anything it seemed a little drunk and needed a little guidance until around 2000 when it sobered up, put on its running shoes and encouraged you to put your right foot down... and have a whole lotta fun! i'm hoping the DSG will be as good... reviews all positive except for one comment from Autocar about it might be underpowered when fully laden. As it will only be me, mrs me and the two babies around town I don't think this should be an issue. Don't need 4x4, and the diesels seem too grumbly. extra cost , DPF issues, and lost refinement not worth to me for low annual mileage Anyway this is what I've decided to go for.... 1.2 DSG Elegance, Silver roof rails, Annapurna Alloys Pana Roof Gobi Leather TPM Spare Mats and flaps just got to decide which colour... have been torn between (Heart) Muscavado and (Head) Aqua Blue - I don't like dark interiors so will be keeping Gobi leather and panoramic roof whichever I go for. Keeping the car clean won't be an issue. Also seen a few elegances with marked drivers seat bases... the leather / seat base seems to ripple taking on the impression of those who've been seated in it which seems suprising after such low mileages max 4K on the five demos i've seen. All showing the issue...seems to show up even more on the Onyx Leather. The cloth seats don't seem to do this. Wonder if SE Euro option Gobi Alcantara can be ordered for an Elegance even though its not a UK option? Anyone tried? Alcantara might also offer a little more lateral support Anyone any experiences, regrets, positives on either colour. My thoughts... Muscavado - Looks great and was the colour I went for first but i've had so many jibes about spending around 20K on another Skoda... haven't even mentioned it could be brown. If this is the reaction at work... the gremlins in my head have started me thinking.... what about a few years down the line if I decide to trade in. Will the brown count against it in the trade as fashions change? Why do Skoda UK call it Muscavado rather than Mato Brown? Had a bad experience in the past with a blackcurrant pearl (purple) Volvo V50... my excuse is it looked good new... however even I started to question my colour choice after a few weeks... and then when it came to P/ex the trade all offered 500+ less than if I'd had a silver one... My dealer made no comment... As a baromter of what the trade might offer on a SM I thought i'd check PCP MGFV on the finance didn't seem to change though whatever the colour just under 8K. Is it easy to wash/ dry or is it like black? Is it a colour that only looks good straight out of the showroom? What's it like covered in road dirt / salt etc Aqua Blue - Is this too safe? I would jump for the blue if it looked like the cover of the UK brochure in the flesh, but every SM in Aqua i've seen seems to be almost silver as if the blue's faded after a few baths . the nearest ive seen to a brochure aqua blue is the photo of MBrock's SM aerial shot... the other photos of his SM also look more silver. Silver cars imo always look clean, but don't sparkle when clean.... Any comments?
