Hi guys, my window winder has jammed,though with a bit of force it will move. Now the window has dropped 4/5 inches.You can move it up and down with your hands either side of it. Any ideas of whats gone wrong so i know were to look when i take the door card off. Cheers.

I always use Castrol Edge 5W30.

Had my 05 plate in yesterday to get the tracking sorted.The lad takes it for out to see what it drives like. He comes back with fumes coming from under the car, the glow plug light flashing and the engine management light flashing aswell. I think the toss** must have been thrashing the car.Anyway got the lights reset at a mates garage who says it might having something to do with the injection needle.Any ideas lads and do you think the lights have come on because of this nobber or just a coincidence. Cheers mate,i got a price of a car parts shop and they quoted £197 including vat. Alot cheaper than £534. I hope it's the correct one as it also fits an Audi and Golf.

Was told off another garage that the seals were leaking and can't be repaired,Skoda said the same.

Apparently the seals can't be repaired it has to be a new rack. Cheers.

In October 08 i had to replace my steering rack on my Octavia due to a seal leaking, it's only been on the car for 16 months and the same thing has happened again. The rack cost me £534 from the dealership so it was'nt a cheap copy. Surely this part should last a lot longer than that and i bet the part only has a 12 month warranty. Have'nt phoned the dealership yet but they'll probably say it's out of warranty. Any advice would be welcome. Cheers guys.

Tried sliding the collar but it still won't budge. I was wondering if there is some sort of clip holding it. The pictures from RobClubly were good but they had no winder. Cheers lads

Hi guys, does anybody know the cost of a steering rack for an Octavia 1.9 tdi.2005 I have been quoted £700 from the dealership. Was going to get the part from the dealership and take it to a garage. Hopefully should be cheaper. Cheers.

I have a Octavia tdi and theres a noise when slightly turning the wheel not just on full lock.Is it just a case of topping up fluid or is there an underlying problem.In the manual it says its not a case of just topping up but it should be seen at a dealership.Do i need to use the fluid recommended by Skoda.Cheers guys.
