  1. Many thanks for the input guys;maybe I can flog the bridgestones on fleabay to someone whose hearing isn't too sharp??The fronts only have about 5k. Cheers.D.
  2. I'm becoming really p...d off with the racket generated by the Bridgestone Potenzas on my L&K; predominantly between 20-30mph.All's fine on M-ways, but a lot of my motoring's in town and what should be a fairly good driving experience is marred by this unacceptable din.I'm getting very near to changing all four, although there's 1000's of miles left in each.Anyone any suggestions before I get rid of the car?? In anticipation.David. PS. I'm sure there have been many threads on this issue, but all advice would be much appreciated.Cheers.D
  3. Recently changed the fronts on my 2009 L&K at 19,600k but stuck to Bridgestones (£200 inc) for consistancy;yep,v noisy at low spd on certain road surfaces but I've got used to it after two years.Pretty quiet on M way though. David. what.eh.???
  4. Thanks guys-managed to remove the plate damage-free without too much *#**!!*# and fit the alu-look replacement I ordered from SuperSkoda(that's the easy part!). ATB.David. PS. I thought that lower storage compartment was an ash tray!? Good place for the extra-strong mints anyway...
  5. Can anyone help me in the removal of the dash plate, which is the plastic dashboard trim which surrounds the cd/radio screen and the three heater/ac control knobs?I understand it seems to click into place but I'm having no luck removing it without breakage of some sort! Cheers.D.
  6. Hi all, Have ordered an alu-look dash plate from SuperSkoda to alleviate the predominantly black facia on my L&K. I have no idea how to remove the standard one and there is zilch documentation.Anyone help?Cheers.
  7. I've ordered an alu-look dash plate from SuperSkoda to relieve the completely black facia on my L&K.I understand that the new bit sort of clips in with all those hooks and clips, but how do I remove the standard one?No helpful tips came with the package. Anyone?
  8. Good grief-why is the spare wheel well in my Octy soaking wet?? I know it's chucked it down the last couple of days, but even so...
  9. Driving home from work tonight the red battery light suddenly came on and stayed on.After a few miles I pulled into a garage, switched off and restarted;the warning light didn't illuminate after starting. Are there grounds for moderate hysteria?
  10. Driving home from work tonight the red battery light suddenly illuminated and stayed on.I pulled in to a petrol station, switched off, restarted and no warning light. Should I get hysterical? Sorry, somehow managed a duplication!!
  11. Unfortunately not,but love the vid
  12. On a daily basis??Have you any idea how damn irritating this is becoming?I'm about ready to do the creature.
  13. Think mine operate in conjunction with the rear window element;heavily frosted up this morning and thawed out in minutes(I took a while longer though!)
  14. Any ideas on how to stop a local moggy climbing on the roof of my (occasionaly!) nice shiny bmp L&K leaving it's muddy pawprints all over it on a nightly basis?? Humane solutions preferred, but I'll try most anything! :wonder: David.
  15. Well, after a lot of shopping around I've opted with Sky as suggested by a couple of you-appreciated-and with the very handy 20% discount I've saved myself approx £200;result. Don't you just love this forum! David.
  16. Many thanks guys for all your input;I'm on it
  17. My insurance premium has increased from £350 to over £600 in a year.I have fully comp, ncp and maximum ncd.The company is RSA through Castle Cover. I'm a 64 year old music teacher, unfortunately I have three fixed penalty speeding offences within the last five years and was involved in an accident(not my fault and fully settled) the tail end of last year.I still think the increase is excessive;what's the opinion of forummers before I resort to 3rd party F&T. Tentatively awaiting replies.David. :S
  18. I had a 1.9pd dsg for a couple years and currently have the 2.0pd dsg L&K;I can assure you the 1.9 yields much better mpg figures than the 2.0. Maxidot regularly showed late 50's and even on occasion early 60 mpg.No way can my 2.0 get near those figures.Lots of grunt though! ATB.David.
  19. I wish! I can't get anywhere near those figures in my 2.0tdi dsg L&K.my 09(15.000 miles).Best I've attained recently was a fairly fast M40 run of about 80-85mph for 70 miles which showed 46-47 mpg.Pretty grim in London traffic however;usually approx 27-35. Love the Octy though! ATB.D.
  20. Probably approx 45mpg overall(pd 140 dsg L&K.).I do a regular commute to London's west end;about 12 miles, which shows between 30-40mpg.Mway stuff between 40-45.Hoping to improve on these numbers as the donkey loosens up;presently at 12,500m.
  21. I've had both the 1.9 and 2.0 pd tdi Octavia;the 1.9 is MUCH more frugal with the diesel.I'm struggling to achieve 45mpg with my current 2.0 whereas I often used to reach the late 50's in the 8 valve. Both dsg.
  22. Been a lot of chat about how raucus the pd unit can be in certain situations;well,I've had the opportunity of experiencing both the CR (Passat) and my own 2.0 L&K dsg.Yes,the pd diesel can sound a bit 'agricultural' around town or when cold. But,I have to say, yesterday, driving west on a newly resurfaced section of the M3,my octy cabin sounded pretty subdued at 85-90;minimal tyre noise, very little engine noise and a bit of wind noise from the RVM.Love this car!
