  1. Another free bump. Bought a window switch unit. Many thanks
  2. No, Peak District, about 10 mins from my house
  3. No rubbing at all Sarah love. I've just taken the car to the local tyre monkey and he says from what I'm describing it sounds like the top strut bearings may be showing signs of wear but he couldn't replicate it at the time - it's completely gone now :S. The drop links and springs are all fine though so thats a relief. On a side note he said that I need a mid section rubber for the exhaust (Miltek) as its a Skoda OEM part that he can't get hold of. /sigh
  4. Thanks for the replies so far gents. Just took out it for a quick spin now and can't notice any noise, stationary or while moving :wonder: I had a look at the top strut mounts and both appear to be the same gap (about 1cm) and also had a 'tug' of the springs from within the wheel arch with no movement whatsoever found either. The car 'bounces' as it normally would when pushing down on either side. Just to expand on the clunks I had last night and it was if the clunks were at set intervals, not random as though something was catching as something was turning. I'm totally puzzled now! So while the engine is hot after a 2 hours drive it clunks, cold it doesn't... the plot thickens! Any other ideas?
  5. Nah I would think I would notice a broken spring? Everything still feels nice and tight on the road. Totally at a loss about this odd noise. The noise sounds like a rubbing knock if that makes sense?
  6. I posted a while back that I damaged my sump on a pothole. With the sump now replaced and happy driving for a while I then had a 'rattling sound under the car. Turns out it's just an exhuast bracket/clamp that has braken lose and is just swiveling around the exhaust which I'll be sorting tomorrow. Now for the worrying part. On my way home from work tonight, I pulled onto my driveway and noticed a 'knock/clunk' from under the car. Upon further examination this happens when turning the steering wheel, even when the car is stationary. I get three clunks from full lock to full lock :(. Now for the stupid question: Due to the missing bracket, could the exhaust have now moved and is now rubbing on the steering assembly somewhere? Or is it a symptom of something more serious? Drop links, steering rack etc? Seriously hoping it's the former as I'm on my hols this week and could do without a hefty repair bill :(. Please put my mind at ease :'(
  7. Awesome GTI (Manchester) or Shark (Mansfield). Both are excellent.
  8. I have no means to get it home from the garage now without filling it back up with oil so by the time I've paid for that I may as well pay 1hrs labour and get him to fit the new one. I've got a haynes manual for the standard octy so I can't imagine it would be much different for a vrs. I would however like your guide too m8 if possible. Is it posted here? Thx
  9. Yeah I've seen those m8. I would prefer oem atm though due to keeping costs down .
  10. After six years of trouble free Vrs driving I've had my first 'incident'. Due to the bad weather we've had there have been some really bad potholes developing and I managed to hit a rather large one, grounding the car. I pulled over, had a quick check underneath and saw nothing amiss....until the morning when I was greeted by a puddle of oil :(. Upon closer inspection the sump has a hairline 'groove' next to the sump plug resulting in a very slow drip. So I took it to the local garage who quoted £200 to repair the sump (aluminium weld) with replacement oil etc. However looking online I can get a new one which I would feel more comfortable about for £50. Problem is there are two types for the VRS and as my car is in the garage not on my drive I'm unsure which one to order as I can't check. My link So my question is - With or without sender hole? I suspect it's with but wanna be sure before I order. Its a mk1 2004 Vrs (AUQ).
  11. 300-340 on average here. Best mpg I've seen was 38mpg but averages around 26 if I dont drive like a loon.
  12. Touch up pens look gash at the best of times, especially if they are used to cover scratches. Save your pennies and get a spray job done.
  13. Time I gave the Octy a treat!

  14. My stage one boosts at 20psi.
  15. Some info on mine: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/octavia/pillar-gauge-pod/29305
  16. The mounts themselves are cheap (54p I paid iirc) but add 2.5hrs labour and it starts to get expensive. Had mine done under warranty and they went again 6 months later:(
  17. I have a full milltek with xenons and don't have any adverse effects. The system isn't loud at all.
  18. Silver looks more 'sterile' then shiny. You get plenty of clarity but not much depth. It does however appear cleaner for longer:thumbup: After polishing mine I wish I had bought a black one but an hour later when it rains I am glad I bought silver Mine :
  19. There have been times when only one of mine lights first time. A quick off-on sorts it.
  20. Yeah mine worked fine while the engine was running (jump started :() but with a dying battery they just flickered constantly with the ignition on.
  21. My Xenons have worked fine from day 1. You want to see them flicker when you battery is dying though - looks like a strobe light.
  22. Yeah mine keep getting nicked too:mad: - plastic ones only from now on.
