  1. Finally got round to doing mine - has been on the 'to do list' for over 10 years. A small pair of mole grips makes all the difference having first drilled off the rusted heads. I have used stainless steel pan head 3.9mmx13mm/no.7 X 1/2" A2 pozi pan head replacements so hopefully won't need doing again for a while! 😁
  2. Hi folks, long time no post! With my trusty Octavia about to reach its 17th birthday, I was thinking it may be a good idea to take off the wheel arch liners and have a clean out. I don't have a jack and axle stands to lift the car safely. Can I remove them without having to remove the front wheels?
  3. Maybe a bit late replying to this so sorry if you have sorted it already! I got mine off Amazon - cheapest place I found for a new one details are: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00D0C9OUM/ref=au_as_r_pf_gs?_encoding=UTF8&selectVehicleSource=garage select&submodelId=15293 or put 'Valeo 404581 Wiper Motors' in the search bit. Cost around £65.00 and is really easy to fit.
  4. You are indeed right! Fitted in no problems and the cover fitted fine too - got to use a socket and a spanner too Also great service from Tayna - would recommend!
  5. Cheers for this but have now ordered from Tayna - I need to stop buying batteries! Hope it will be straightforward to fit - got to do it in the dark!
  6. Thanks for pointing this out - I think I will order the one you mention and take the other back to ECP. I got confused dashing between meetings and with multiple screens open
  7. That hasn't helped with the Land Rover Defender itch that I need to scratch! Having said that I still enjoy driving it after 14 years so won't be going anytime too soon... In terms of the battery I got the Bosch one from EuroCarParts because they had 25% off and can deliver it tomorrow! Worked out £3.00 more than Tayna.
  8. Mine is black on a '54 plate and owned since new Often on A1307 which heads your way!
  9. Thanks vrsTom Tayna have it listed for £69.01 so looks like that is where it will be coming from! The car has only done just over 55k but have recently switched it to a 14m round commute so not getting as charged up as it used to be.
  10. Thanks for the speedy reply rum4mo! I think I am going for S5 005 Bosch Car Battery 12V 63Ah Type 027 S5005 which appears to be 1cm taller but my measurements might have been a bit off at 6.30am and -5 this morning!
  11. Good morning all, So after 14 years service the battery on my 1.8T VRS gave up the ghost this morning. I thought I would just go out and order one but realised that is needs to fit under the plastic cover. Therefore can anyone recommend a battery that fits? Dimensions are roughly (L)24 x (W)17cm x (H) 18cm. Thinking an S4 005 Bosch Car Battery 12V 60Ah Type 027 S4005 might be ok? Any help appreciated and I did use the search function and couldn't find anything about new batteries and the battery cover... Cheers! Jon
  12. I bought my Octavia vRS new in September 2004 and still have it 45,000 miles later Still a great car and it has been well looked after!
  13. Mk1 hatch in black - either really really clean or properly dirty! My bro has a Mk2 FL estate and looks great in red.
