  1. Hi all hopefully I can get a bit of advice and feedback on the above. Essentially I’m looking to get back into a mk 3 octavia Vrs petrol (I’ve previously had a mk 1 and mk2 fl dsg tsi) and need to know what’s best. my situation is this-I’m considering selling my S4 B8 and splitting some of the money off into a mk 3 Vrs and putting the rest towards a daily that can also be used for a bit of track daying! Having owned a few Vrs in the past I’d happily step back into one every day of the week manual or DSG but I would be looking to put a stage 1 tune on it but no more than that. I know they map over 300bhp but most importantly does anyone have experience of how the clutches cope on manual cars with the significant increase in torque?? Or is it best to go DSG and not have to worry about that ? I quite like driving both so it’s not a question of driving style or preference for me just capability of the car as I don’t really want to go down the route of putting a stiffer performance clutch on it as my wife will also be using this quite a bit! my two previous Vrs have both been stage 1 and my S4 is currently 500bhp so I would definitely want to tune to stage 1 just so I wasn’t bored of the standard performance and ideas welcome
  2. I put a post up on this months back n nothing so unsure?? Used to be a big event for the club as done the stand a couple times in past shows I’m going now anyway and on track but no stand that I’m aware of!??
  3. Assume some of you guys will be attending this as per norm but thought I’d put a quick post up that may interest some of you?? castle coombe had a gift package on that I’ve bought this month for two tickets to any action day (including spring action)and a track session for £45!!!!! Considering the track sessions are normally £45 on their own now/or the fact it’s £15 per ticket in anyway I consider that to be a bloody good deal. anyway I’ve booked mine already and a 11:20session in my fat lardy family estate so maybe see a few of you there ?
  4. Anyone on here doing /going or tracking at this-Silverstone this Sunday coming?
  5. Bloody hell that didn't last long lol-almost tempted to buy her back as she was a lovely drive/car but tbh I'm totally in love with my S4 and now have little c2 vts track hack to get my thrills out of. Hope she continues to be well looked after! well spotted jonboy
  6. As titled imo probably the best open filter kit for the 2.0 Tsi as in facelifted mk2 octavia vrs, mk6 golf gti etc. Great returns on torque and power and a definite must in a stage 1 mapped car! Only about 3k miles use and £250 new so good bargain! complete with heat shield, silicon coupling, filter, intake pipe and jubilee clips etc! Can post at cost £140 07814 113120
  7. 23rd/89 fastest 0-60 of the day ftw
  8. Yh I noticed this but second run was on the left lane which was higher up on the bank so maybe a greater wind resistance at higher speed -only thing I cud think that would of effected the 4 mile difference!?
  9. A little update date on the performance of my Audi barge. A little trip over to rockingham over the wkend for Gti Inters . New venue for them so finding their feet with this one but personally had a great weekend with the bonus of full track wkend tickets and some sprint action for my Charger. had several sessions on rockingham national circuit and started to get to grips with it (esp the twisty chicane into tightening right handed that caught my little brother out in his golf lol) but they also had an 1/8 mile set up on the pit straight between the bankings. Originally wasn't going to have a go at this but my mate got me some free passes and the benefit was 0-60 times as well as 1/8 timing slips so did it out of interest after my previous sessions at the pod. was expecting her 60 time around 4.5 esp after seeing several stage 2 mk7 golf r's hitting low 4's and 8.2's 1/8 and a S5 Charger coupe with 480 bhp on tap hitting 4.2! So really happy with a 3.76 0-60 and personal best 7.997 just scraping that sub 8 1/8 for a 1 3/4 tonne family estate really didn't expect to be hitting such times also just fitted some some new black edition badges and blacked the cooler out behind the grill just to make her a little more underplayed and stealthy . I'll get some pics up soon but for now the timings proof
  10. so some times from my runs at gti spring fest yesterday weather was pretty decent (maybe a little too hot as got the inevitable "pod face" lol) and wind was minimal which can always be a bit of a bugger at the pod being so open! tried to get used to the launch control , which I will say is far more a brutal assault than my dsg octy VRS was, and pretty much fluffed the first run putting in 13.1 shaved a half second on the second pass and at this point to be fair I could of gone home happy with a 12.57 but thought I'd give another go just for practice on the launch of her! final run 12.43 and just a shade under 113mph at the terminal!!! Must admit im pretty chuffed with her times and performance-my brother was running a friends Golf R with a tte 460 , no seats/spare and some serious engine work and hitting 11.9's so to be running these times out of a large family estate fully equipped with full size spare, kids seats and a kerb weight touching over 1700kg you can imagine I'm happy-plus sounded beautiful going down! May try stripping out rear seats and spare once gear box has been updated etc later in the year but for now I'm a happy boy!! also good to see some great cars down there and a few briskoda cars too I noticed!!
  11. I know quite a few of you guys will be hitting Combe this wkend(unfortunately can't make it) but anyone doing spring action at the pod on the Sunday?
  12. I've just been put today with my brother testing the launch control ready for next wkend at the pod-I've never been in ANYTHING that goes from standing like this did today ! I've had and been in cars that physically push you back into the seat from the acceleration but this thing takes your head and smacks it into the head rest like a hammer hitting you!-does make me think though what the hell a 918 or a Veyron feels like!!
  13. Yh she certainly moves-even better when you consider she weighs in 1700kg plus! I've always missed my old VR6 highline cause of the sound of a sixshooter so to be back in one is awesome an even better with the Charger!
  14. Holy Jesus!! just been reading through this and if I didn't think the superb 280 was a stealthy weapon already then this really cements it!!! Totally my type of car!! awesome build dude
